24.01.2022 Hi COF Followers. I was talking yesterday with a Vic Farmer whose family was struggling last time we spoke, but now have exciting plans to set up some therapeutic horse experiences alongside their Appaloosa and beef raising business. I’m sure Peter & Wendy would love to run their ideas past some Travellers- they live in Koetong. The 1st photo attached is from another Vic Farmer Sheryl, who lives in a great central spot near Bendigo if you are after a jumping-off- for- touring... place We also have new Farmers joined in Qld Greg and Tanya have been taking in RV’s and campers for a while in their Bush Camp, so I’m sure they will look after you too. Time to see all those places in your states you’ve zipped on through before! A horse walks into a bar one day. The bartender says, "Hey." The horse says, "You read my mind!" Drive safely everyone, cheers Deb See more

23.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR! It probably won’t be very different to what we have been experiencing the past 9 months, but in comparison to this time last year our Farmers are mostly much better off and it all flows on eventually. When I spoke with one of our potential new Traveller Members this week, she quizzed me on where we lived, how long we’d been operating the COF business etc she joined! For those I haven’t spoken with, Yes, we are 6th generation Australians, developed the COF co...ncept ourselves, live in Albany WA, don’t take any booking fees or commissions from our Farmers, and after many years still love talking with our members and helping find safe places to travel to. You know, New Year’s Eve is the best time to have a bubbly personality? My new year's resolution is to be more optimistic, by keeping my cup half-full, with either champagne, rum, or whiskey. Don’t drink & drive, but celebrate the new year to come. Best wishes to you all, Deb & Rod See more

23.01.2022 Hello COF Travellers & Farmers, and welcome back to those Melbourne Travellers who can now think about getting out and about again! We have actually had a few new VIC Farmers join COF in the past 6 months so drive out and meet them! There’s Sheryl NE of Bendigo on a 500 acre property (one of her photos here), Alison & Damien in E Gippsland, and Tim & Carolyn in Skipton (photo of cropping), only 2 hrs from Melbourne. Explore your state now check out their pages on the website because they offer lots of opportunities for extras bushwalking, wildflowers, bbq’s, tours and pet friendly etc etc..I know you will love the open spaces. You know why sheep are such bad drivers don’t you? They always make illegal ewe turns.:) Catch ewe later, stay safe (yes, KEEP washing your hands!) Cheers Deb

20.01.2022 Happy Australia Day COF Followers! Can I request some help too please? ... We have quite a few Solo Traveller Members and enquiries from Solo Travellers due to the safety on our COF Farms. I keep forgetting the names of the Solo groups in each state, so would like to put them on our Useful Links page on the website. Can you please send me the Names / Contact details? Thanks, Deb

20.01.2022 Hello COF Travellers & Farmers. We are about to turn around towards home after a wonderful few weeks wandering around the wildflowers in WA. We’ve met some lovely people and got to know our state so much better. Have visited historic places, Op shops, museums, read heaps of plaques, fished and done it slowly! We’ve only had 4 days out of that time in Caravan Parks to enable a bit of powering up, washing and catching up with internet and you lot! We’re off to meet more of our ...COF Farmers on our way home which we’re looking forward to can’t tell you how much we have enjoyed the Farmstay experiences! Even if it’s for an overnight break I’d encourage everyone to take the time to venture on to our COF Farms for that de-stressing, peaceful connection. For COF members, have you joined the chat group? We let you know the new Farms as they join and hear from the Farmers themselves. A lovely pic from Rachael & Darren’s place in Qld. I used to suffer from soap addiction, but I’m clean now. :) Have a great week, drive carefully, cheers Deb See more

20.01.2022 We love Christmas in Australia. Best wishes from Rod & Deb

19.01.2022 Hi COF Travellers & Farmers. With a little more freedom to travel now I thought you may like to see some photos of a few of our COF NSW places? In the North in Bundarra is Paul & Shannon’s place; heading South call in to Bongee and meet Geoff & Margaret; if you are going West a must see in Gilgandra is Belinda & Peter’s farm and to the East Brian & Bernie in Laurieton would be glad to see you. A couple of these properties have river frontages, or if you like bird watching or watching / helping farmers with their cropping, then the opportunities to see more of the great outdoors is there to be had. I like the scenery around river valleys. Some are absolutely gorges. Drive safely, Cheers Deb

18.01.2022 Hello COF Farmers & Travellers. We had a query about how many COF Farms are in Tasmania this week. The Tassie tourism was going great guns before March and so it will be good if people are thinking again about getting out and about around our apple isle. It has made a huge difference for all the small towns & businesses in the other states where travel restrictions have been eased. If you don’t live in Tassie, go on, start planning now for when we can get across there ! Whether it’s in the heart of Derwent Valley, Cygnet, North Bruny (that’s where the photos come from) or you want to try one of the other COF Farms to explore the area, check out the map. Have an apple-solutely wonderful week! Stay safe, cheers Deb

18.01.2022 Hello COF Followers. We have just returned from a caravan trip to Perth via the South West of WA (weddings & birthdays to attend) so apologies if our response to your enquiries have been a bit slow this week. Most of the countryside is looking great after rains here and I heard our WA Farmers crops will be up by 20-30% this year. I’ve only spoken with a few COF Farmers East of WA, but they seem to be having a good season too thank goodness. As most RVers are still keeping to ...travelling within their own state, I’d encourage you all to get out and see what Spring (Maungernan) has brought us this year as we head into Beruc, the Dry and Hot season. If you are willing, ask a Farmer if he/she needs a hand, for as you know farm workers are hard to find at the moment. Did you hear about the wooden tractor? It had wooden wheels, wooden engine, wooden transmission and wooden work. Stay safe, keep in contact with friends & family and enjoy your travels if you are able to get out. Cheers, Deb PS we are selling our 2016 Jayco 18' Offroad Outback if anyone is looking for a great van to buy (Advert on Gumtree). We are downgrading and upsizing. See more

17.01.2022 Hi COF Farmers & Travellers. Nearly February, Kids & teachers going back to school, the streets are clearing and we can now make plans to get back on the road in the van! If you are travelling near the Bunya Mtns in Qld, we have a new COF Farmer this week. Joan runs some sheep and cattle on a small farm at the foothills of the glorious Bunya Mountains. If you are looking to waking up to the sounds of birds and animals, then this might be the perfect place for an overnight s...topover. Of course COF Members, check her info on the website and call beforehand (Let’s be Covid -safe) We’ve had problems with our internet reception since the holiday crowds have been in Albany, so I’m quite keen for them all to leave so I don’t have to work at night when they are all asleep!- I think Rod will be pleased to get rid of this Grumpy Old Woman then Thought you may enjoy some (6)technical terms and what they mean to Farmers: Log on: when you want to make the loungeroom warmer; Log off: Timberrrrr ; Laptop: where the cat sleeps ; Windows: what to shut when it’s cold outside ; Byte: what mosqitoes do My math teacher called me average. How mean! Keep well everybody, Cheers, Deb See more

17.01.2022 Hi COF Followers. The NSW & SA border is open, so I thought I’d feature SA this week. If you are in the area go chat to some of our Farmers in Sedan, Nildottie, Gulnare, Kingston SE, Port Kenny, Smithfield, Port Wakefield, and Clarendon I’m sure they would love to see some new people after being in isolation so long. The 1st photo today comes from The Australian Wombat Rehabilitation Centre Inc (AWRC) which relies on donations to help the animals from outback South Australia. The 2nd is from Sandra & Harry’s place in Gulnare one for the blokes who love old cars in sheds! . I couldn’t think of any good wombat puns (mortal combat didn’t really suit) but they are very good at digging holes so in that vein The shovel was a ground-breaking invention. :) Drive safely everyone, Cheers Deb.

17.01.2022 Hi there COF Farmers & Travellers. For those travelling around QLD check out the website www.caravanovernightfarmstay.com for a new Farm on the map in Tamborine (south of Brisbane, West of the Gold Coast) I know Shari would love to meet some of our Travellers and is happy to dog-sit if you want to spend the day touring the area without your little loved one. So if you need a new leash on life, anything is paw-sible when you have a dog. Be safe everyone. Cheers, Deb PS We are going to meet our new Farmer member in Nannup (WA) tomorrow. Also, Have a look at the new reviews/member feedback posted on the website under the Contact tab.

17.01.2022 Hi COF Followers. All Members will have received a Newsletter by now (check your junk or spam folder if it hasn’t come through!) with a welcome to the 24 Farmers who have joined COF since our last Newsletter at the beginning of the year, but we have a new Farmer has joined in WA this week since then. Heather lives near Nannup in the SW of WA and We grow lavender for dried flower and have a small campground. The farm is centrally located for touring around. If you like Open ...Gardens(17) there is also a big event on this week in the area for 4 days starting today - Festival of Country Gardens. I’m sure there are Open Gardens all over Australia at the moment go on get out there this weekend (go on put the petal to the metal)! Must admit I just love gardening and getting some inspiration from others, but when it came to growing herbs I just couldn’t find the thyme Drive carefully everyone, Cheers Deb See more

16.01.2022 Hello COF Travellers & Farmers. I hear it has been very wet in some places! Take care on the roads, don’t hurry, enjoy the countryside and remember you make more money out of mud than dust. By the way, this week we have another new WA Farm has joined COF. Leanne & Steve have just returned from RVing themselves, so appreciate how hard it can be at the moment to find those safe (low cost) overnight stopping places. They have a 37 acre hobby farm just north of Dongara (south of ...Geraldton) and looking forward to meeting people visiting their area. A reminder to all our COF Travellers too please leave a comment about the property you stay on as it guides others for great reasons to visit those rural & country areas. What do you call dangerous precipitation?... A rain of terror! Drive carefully everyone. (Bad puns? That’s how eye roll.) Cheers, Deb See more

13.01.2022 Today, Friday, on our north trip stopping at Linga Longa Farmstay just south of port Gregory WA. Nice spot very well grassed, shady trees plus a bit of history thrown in. Hopefully Jenny and Greg will register as farmers on our website.

12.01.2022 Hello COF Farmers & Travellers. Have you all had a go at making Damper some time? Rod made some in the camp oven for morning tea while we were touring around WA a few weeks ago so simple but so nice with lots of butter and some home- made jam! Of course, it’s just as good to bake it in the conventional oven, just not the same kudos, and goes great with any casserole/ stew dishes. You can always practice at home before you show off to fellow Travellers! Here, have a go: 2 ...cups Self-Raising Flour, a pinch of salt and water (approx. 1/2cup) Method : In a large bowl, add 2 cups SR flour and pinch of salt, then slowly add some water until the ingredients start to combine and form a dough. Use a butter knife to mix it together. Then using your hands work the dough in to a round shape (gently), give it a couple of cuts across the top (I like those crunchy bits!) Then place it in your camp oven if you want to avoid a thick hard bottom on your damper you can put it on a foil covered trivet (old cake rack) or old enamel plate. Then cook for about 25minutes NB you need heat on top and bottom of the camp oven. And, If you replace the water with milk it gives the damper a softer crumb. I wanna make a joke about sodium, but Na.. Enjoy your travels (or planning) Cheers Deb See more

10.01.2022 Hello COF Farmers & Travellers. We welcomed this week another new COF property in Busselton, WA, and a couple of COF Farmers who have renewed their membership for another 2 years with us which is great obviously they have had some lovely COF Travellers stop by! Robert & Denise live in Mitre Vic, on a pastoral property 1/2 way between Melb & Adelaide which has been very popular, and Gloria & Brian are on a station near Cervantes in WA and COF Travellers who have done their s...tation tour gave glowing reports too. Get out there and enjoy your state and experience the country life however, don’t expect all our COF Farmers will entertain you! They are running a business producing food! And you may not even get a chance to speak with them at times! The fishing has been very good in Bremer Bay freshly caught Bream last night because the ocean was a bit rough (we’ve been eating King George whiting etc). I’ve learned the best way to communicate with a fish is to .. Drop it a line! Safe travels everyone, cheers, Deb See more

06.01.2022 Hi COF Travellers & Farmers. Welcome back to our Friday FB posts. We have a new Farmer has joined this week too. Evi is in Qld and has 5 acres of open camp grounds for self-contained caravans(, RV’s) and camping. Pets are welcome. Sunny spots for the solar panels and plenty of shade to laze around under. Your time here will be relaxing with no interruption. Bird watchers’ paradise. Great central point to visit Gympie region, Tin Can Bay, Rainbow Beach, Fraser Island, Handy t...o Gympie CBD 4 km's away I also read some articles in the NT Farmers Association Weekly E-news which may be of interest to all COF Farmers, so I’ll put a link up in the next few days. (Info on Agri Starter Loans, the Rural Bank’s Scholarship Program and Wage Subsidies avail) News from the COF house we are very close to having a very updated website , we are both on diets :{ , we are going to take our van to Bremer Bay next week to see our Farmer friends and do some fishing , we didn't make it to midnight on NYEve :\ . A Christmas leftover Did you hear about the red ship that collided with the blue ship? All the sailors were marooned. Be safe everyone, cheers Deb See more

06.01.2022 Hello to all our COF Followers! It’s been an interesting year for us hasn’t it? Many thanks to all of you for your support! For most I think this year has been good in many ways and we’ve learned a lot about what makes us really happy. We’ve had quite a few new Farmers join us so do get out and enjoy the countryside and get to know them spread the love (and some cash!) This time of year is very quiet for the COF business so we will take a bit of a break from talking with yo...u here next Friday (the 25th) and be back on the 1st Jan. We will still be contactable by email or phone if you need help on the website though! I love all the stuff that goes with Christmas and went a bit far I think with the lights this year outside our bedroom it’s been hard to get to sleep before they go off at 11! And it’s been great fun making home-made bonbons, choosing little Christmas treats and the worst ever jokes to go inside them. We do hope you have a Happy time wherever you are. And last for 2020. The North Pole doesn't import goods because it’s Elf Sufficient. :) Cheers, Deb See more

04.01.2022 Hi there COF Farmers and Travellers. As things are getting a bit freer in Vic, perhaps planning to include a few stopovers on a COF property is the way to go? At the moment, you’ll need to call ahead to confirm with the Farmer, but if you are around Bolinda, Rubicon, Mitre, Modewarre, Koetong, Pier Milan, Pakenham Upper, Fosterville, Nicholson or Bradvale take the time to meet the Farmers, explore somewhere new and just get out and spend some money enjoying yourselves in the regions! The pics are from Alison & Damien, and Tim & Carolyn I couldn’t resist showing you their enthusiastic dog Remember, never take your dog to a flea circus heal steal the show! Enjoy your travels, Cheers Deb

04.01.2022 Hello COF Followers. Are you travelling around Qld? The map shows a few of the COF farms you could stopover at if you need a break, eh! There’s a 400 ha farm on the edge of the Jimbour plain, growing cotton, grain and pulse crops. The property is located north of Dalby, near Jimbour. One feedback we received .. We can’t thank Adrian and Katie enough to let us stay at their wonderful property last week. We were made very welcome. It was truly wonderful and very informative. T...he camp site was just what we had been looking for - our camp was set next to a creek in wide open space with nobody else around giving us the feeling of total freedom. We can’t wait for the next cotton harvest so we can come and experience it. Or what about 7 acres of bushland setting with the aesthetic view of 300 olive trees. Very quiet location 2 klms from the oldest town in Queensland, Gayndah which is on the Burnett Highway, established in 1849. Located in the North Burnett which is the home to the Big Orange. Or if that’s not enough room for you there’s a station in Isla. AND They all allow pets! Eh, Did you hear about the magic tractor? It turned into a field.:) Stay safe everyone, Cheers Deb See more

04.01.2022 Let us Remember them. We had a cyclonic storm through Albany yesterday, but a few of my poppies survived :)
