25.01.2022 In a driveway, in a car park, or even under a house. As long as we have permission from the owner to carry out work there, we can service your car anywhere. We serviced this Golf last week using top quality Ryco Filters and Penrite Oil. The service was carried out to the manufacturers standards and the log books were stamped which means the warranty remains in tact. We saved the customer over $100 from what the dealer would have charged, and the customer didnt even have to ...leave his home. Needless to say, one happy customer. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. Dont forget, we are offering 10% off your basic service cost until the 12th of June. Check the offers tab on our Facebook page for more details. ~Dan

25.01.2022 How clean is the air coming out of your air conditioner? Here are a couple of cabin filters weve replaced recently. The cabin filter is responsible for filtering dust, pollen and dangerous particles from the air before it goes through your air conditioning system. Replacing them regularly will not only make the air inside your car safer to breath, but will also extend the life of your evaporator by preventing it from clogging up with dirt. Most cars made after 2007 and some... made before hand are fitted with cabin filters. The first photo here shows a cabin filter that really should have been replaced long ago. The second is from a 2019 model car with just 11,000km on the clock. This shows that the life of your cabin filter depends on many factors including where you live, what sort of roads you drive on, what the weather is doing, how often you use the air con, etc. Basically what Im saying is, the cabin filter should be checked every service regardless of how old the vehicle is. If youre looking for a mechanic that will go the extra mile and check everything at every service, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

25.01.2022 Just over 5 weeks until Christmas! Don’t leave your car maintenance and check overs to the last minute. Especially if you’re planning to go away. Leaving you’re pre-trip servicing to the last minute means there is no time to sort out any issues that may be found during the check over. Remember, not all parts can be sourced the same day. Thanks to COVID, many are taking weeks to get here. Get in early and have one less thing to worry about. Car Guys Mechanical will be closed ...from Wednesday the 23rd of December until Monday the 4th of January. Get your car serviced and/or checked over before the Christmas rush sneaks up on you. Contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

24.01.2022 Check out what arrived on Wednesday! For me there is two things a business needs to go from a money making hobby to a legitimate operation. Sign writing and uniforms. Now we have both and were extremely chuffed. Its a bit of a dodgy photo but Uniform Mart did a fantastic job of these uniforms. We also got hoodies and a jacket which all look amazing. Definitely check these guys out if you need custom workwear. ... To say Im proud of what we have accomplished as a business in such a short time would be a massive understatement. But none of this would have happened without our fantastic customers not only using our business, but also spreading the word. Thank you all so much. ~Dan

24.01.2022 Last week we serviced this hilux and also did the cabin filter, air filter, fuel filter, drive belt and spark plugs. As always we only use the best. Penrite Oil, Gates Corporation belts, NGK Spark Plugs and Ryco Filters. If youre looking for a mechanic who wont settle for second best, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

24.01.2022 Check out this absolutely beautiful 1955 VW Beetle we rebuilt the fuel pump on a few months back. So cool to see cars like this still cruising around. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

23.01.2022 We did a service on this old Rodeo last week. During our inspection, we noted several items that were overdue for some attention. With over 460,000km on the clock, the owner decided to give it a birthday. One item on the list was a clutch fluid flush. As you can see from the photos, there was a thick layer of gunk in the bottom of the reservoir. This was understandably affecting the operation of the clutch. We sucked out the dirty old fluid, cleaned the reservoir and flushe...d the whole system with some fresh new Penrite Oil brake fluid. Now the system works as it should again. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY.

22.01.2022 Just recently the charge light in this Prado illuminated. We did some tests and found the alternator wasnt charging. Upon removal of the old alternator, we found the bearings inside were cactus and had caused a failure of the charging system. We swapped it out with a brand new one complete with two year warranty. Good as gold. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

20.01.2022 Nothing makes us happier than repeat customers. Were starting to get a few customers coming back to us for their servicing. Its a warm feeling to know that someone was so happy with your work, they not only tell their friends, but they continue to come back time and time again. This is one of quite a few weve had recently. I wont name her for obvious reasons, but she knows who she is. 20.01.2022 New Tool Tuesday! Weve just purchased this cooling system pressure tester. This allows us to pressurise the cooling system which makes it easier to correctly diagnose coolant leaks and to test for leaks prior to reassembly after repairs. It can also assist to detect and remove air bubbles from the system while refilling coolant. This investment is part of our commitment to you to get it fixed right first time, every time. ... 20.01.2022 Why pay a mechanic? Anyone can change their own oil, right? While it is true that many people could change their own oil, the difference lies in the check over. Knowing what to check and how to check it is the main difference between a professional or backyard service. A comprehensive check over is included in every service we do. Sure some issues can be random or unforeseen, but many can be detected and prevented by a good check over. ... This customer had her car serviced with us the week before last. We noted that the left front wheel bearing was beginning to fail. The outcome of a wheel bearing failing on the road can be catastrophic and even fatal. Luckily this customer got straight onto it and we replaced the complete hub assembly for her. Now this car is safe to drive once again. If you need a service and/or full check over, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

Spaces this week are nearly completely filled and next week is booking fast. If you need mobile servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ... ~Dan See more

19.01.2022 The first of our custom made service stickers was used this week. 18.01.2022 What condition is your coolant in? I cant count how many times Ive heard someone say something along the lines of coolant is nothing more than coloured water, its just a way for mechanics to make more money. Nothing could be further from the truth. Coolant serves three main purposes. It increases the boiling point of water, decreases the freezing point, and inhibits rust. That last one is potentially the most important as youre cooling system is almost entirely made of... metal and is permanently submerged in water. The owner of this patrol bought the car second hand. Luckily he knew straight away that something was wrong when he noticed the colour of his coolant and got in touch with us straight away. The first photo shows the colour. This is not dirt, its rust, as you can see by the condition of the heater pipe in the second photo. We did a full cooling system flush and replaced the rusty water with some fresh new Penrite coolant. Now this patrol is free to run up the beach without boiling the kettle. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

18.01.2022 We had this Forester in for a service and to have a look at the drivers side headlight which was filling with water and causing the globes to blow. We decided to save the customer several hundred dollars and repair the light instead of replacing it. We removed the light, separated the lens, removed the old seal, cleaned and dried both sides, resealed the light, and replaced the blown globes. Now this light should stay bright and dry for many years to come. Need servicing or... repairs? Contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan See more

18.01.2022 As the restrictions are starting to be wound back, now is the time to make sure your cars servicing is up to date. We can service your vehicle in your driveway. We can do zero contact servicing if requested and have protocols in place to prevent the spread of any germs. You dont even have to get changed out of your PJs . We can sort it all for you. Contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

17.01.2022 This is a really good example of why quality brake pads are worth a few extra dollars. This brake pad has failed and pieces of it have started to break away. This is most likely caused by an imperfection in the pad material. The pad material had become so brittle, I was able to break pieces off with my finger nail. You can see from the second photo that the contact patch from pad to rotor was severely decreased. In this case, the result was pieces of the pad jamming themsel...ves between the pad and rotor, causing a horrible noise and reduced braking performance. In more serious cases, this can cause wheel lock or total brake failure. Just because a pad looks good, doesnt mean it was well made. Unfortunately cheap pads usually work ok until you really need them. Dont let anyone tell you that cheap pads are the same as good pads. We use and recommend Bendix brake pads. If youre looking for a mechanic that wont settle for second best, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

16.01.2022 Another happy customer. We did a service on this little Mirage this morning. 15.01.2022 Here are a few sets of brakes weve done recently. We use and recommend Bendix brake pads. Australian owned and manufactured, and the best brake pads money can buy. 14.01.2022 We serviced this car last week that was about 15,000km overdue for a service. The oil filter had deteriorated so much that it came out in three pieces. As you can probably imagine, this filter wasnt doing a whole lot and the engine oil was filthy. In this situation, engine failure is looming on the horizon. But we saved the day with Ryco Filters and Penrite Oil. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

14.01.2022 Dont forget, youve got until the 12th to take us up on our 10% off service offer. Check the offers tab on our page for details. We did the 40k log book service on this X-Trail last week. As always, the service was carried out to the manufacturers specifications using quality oils, filters and fluids that meet or exceed OEM standard. This means new car warranty remains valid and for a fraction of the cost the dealer would have charged. Plus, our customer didnt even have to... leave his house! If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

13.01.2022 Something a bit different. A couple of months back we were asked to replace the lifters in this V8 commodore as they had become noisy. Unfortunately upon further inspection, we realised that several lifters had turned and caused damage to the cam shaft. So we replaced the cam, upgraded the lifters to LS7 lifters, and deleted the AFM system. These upgrades increased the reliability of the engine significantly. For mobile servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

12.01.2022 With the dirt bikes being allowed out again as of this weekend, nows a good time to think about those maintenance jobs youve been putting off. This is a video we made of a set of swing arm bearings we regreased a while ago. This bike had less than 50 hours on it and the swing arm bearings were almost seized solid. This is due to under greasing from factory and this step usually being skipped during pre delivery in order to keep costs low. Before you go trying to point fing...ers at any one manufacturer, they all do it and its a common problem across the board. The best way to combat this is to grease steering head, linkage and swing arm bearings as soon as you bring your new bike home, and then every 50 hours after that (more often if you ride in a lot of sand, mud, or salt water). If you are unsure when they were last done, its better to be safe than sorry. Doing so will greatly increase the life of your bearings, improve the operation of your steering and suspension, and prevent costly repairs when bearings seize in and cannot be removed. If your bike needs some love, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY.

11.01.2022 New tool Tuesday! Check out our new diagnostic scan tool. This fancy new bit of kit showed up late last week and we got to take it for a test drive this afternoon. A good quality scan tool is a fundamental tool for diagnostics on modern vehicles. While its not true that they do all the work for you and tell you how to fix a problem, they do give you the necessary data needed to make a correct diagnosis. In many cases, diagnosing certain problems on certain vehicles would be... completely impossible without one. This one also allows us to record live data, active test functions, bleed electronic brake systems and so much more. It was a large financial investment for us, but its a huge step up from our previous scan tool. This will see us better equipped to diagnose and fix faults correctly first time, every time. For mobile servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

10.01.2022 Like many small businesses in these uncertain times, times are tough for us. But instead of stressing about the current situation, I've been using this quiet period to sharpen my skills and gain knowledge. Hopefully this all blows over soon, and when it does, I will be better educated to help my customers with any mechanical concerns they may have. ~Dan https://www.garrettmotion.com///installer-connect-ebadge/

09.01.2022 Nothing like fresh brakes to make us feel all warm and fuzzy on this cold and rainy day. Safe to say the braking performance of this car has significantly improved. If you need mobile servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

06.01.2022 We had the Colorado7 from the other week back in to do some of the extras we quoted including the timing belt and water pump. The timing belt on this car was roughly 50,000km over the recommended periodic replacement interval. So we replaced the belt and crisis averted. We also did the water pump while we were in the area and gave it some fresh new coolant. The timing belt is responsible for aligning the timing between the crank shaft and the cam shaft. In many cases they ru...n the water pump, and in diesel applications, they also control the injector pump. If this belt snaps, the cam shaft stops and the crank continues to rotate. In most cases this causes parts inside the engine to smash into each other which almost definitely leads to catastrophic engine failure. Put simply, its very important that the timing belt and associated tensioners and pulleys are replaced on time. They may last longer than the recommended distance, but the risk far outweighs the reward. If you need servicing or repairs on your car, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

06.01.2022 Just like Christmas morning

05.01.2022 The leaf spring and shackle bushes in this 75 series were looking a bit sad. So our customer decided to get them done and upgrade the shackle to this flash extended setup from Superior Engineering. We did the upgrade and replaced all leaf spring bushes front and rear. Now theres no more clunks and knocks coming from the leaf springs. If you need servicing or repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

05.01.2022 Happy Easter to everyone! Have a great long weekend. Stay safe, and make the best of being at home. We are back to business as usual on Tuesday. ~Dan

04.01.2022 We replaced the rear brake pads and rotors on this Commodore yesterday. The old brakes were getting a little tired. So we gave it some fresh new rotors and Bendix Workshop pads. While we were at it, we noticed the brake fluid was filthy. So we flushed the system out with some Penrite Oil brake fluid. Now this cars brakes work perfectly. ... If youre looking for a mechanic who only uses quality products, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

03.01.2022 Check out these leaky spark plug tube seals! We did a check over on this X-trail and found a large amount of oil all down the back of the motor. Upon inspection, we found the valve cover gasket to be leaking badly. Almost as badly as this spark plug tube seal. As you can see from the photos, the plug and lower half of the coil were completely submerged in oil. Unfortunately these seals are moulded into the cover and cannot be replaced separately, so we put in a complete new ...genuine cover and gasket. A new set of spark plugs. We gave the coils a good clean and degreased the engine. No more between service oil top ups and with spark plugs unhindered by oil, she runs like a dream once more. For mobile servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

03.01.2022 Oscars, here we come! We made this little short film on a set of shocks we did today. As you can see, they dont get too much worse than this (the shocks that is, not my shonky film skills). Props to the customer who bought the car knowing that the shocks needed doing, and got onto it straight away. For servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

02.01.2022 How clean is the air entering your engine? This is an air filter that we replaced recently. The job of an air filter is pretty self-explanatory. They filter out dust, leaves, bugs, etc from the air entering your engine. Left unchanged, filters like this one on the left can do two things. They can clog up causing poor air flow, reduced power, and poor fuel economy and/or they can start to deteriorate and let dust into your engine. This dust will stick to the oily components i...nside your engine and turn into a kind of grinding paste, which will wear down components inside your engine and drastically reduce its life. Air filters should be checked every service and replaced every 20-40,000km depending on how dusty it is where the car is driven most of the time. If youre looking for a mechanic that will check everything every service, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan

02.01.2022 Sick of wasting half a day taking your car to the mechanic? We can save you the hassle and do all your servicing at your home or workplace. We did a service and brake fluid flush on this Cerato last week using only the best Penrite Oil and Ryco Filters. All in the customers garage. For mobile servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ... ~Dan See more

01.01.2022 Gotta love a service with a view! One of our favourite things about being fully mobile. We did the 40K log book service on this CR-V including a brake fluid flush and CVT service. As always, we used the best quality Ryco Filters and Penrite Oil which meet or exceed manufacturers specifications so the warranty remains in tact. Our customer saved himself some money and didnt even have to leave his home. ... For mobile servicing and repairs, contact us on Facebook or call 0467-CARGUY. ~Dan
