20.01.2022 A professor gave a balloon to every student, who had to inflate it, write their name on it and throw it in the hallway. The professors then mixed all the balloo...ns. The students were given 5 minutes to find their own balloon. Despite a hectic search, no one found their balloon. At that point the professors told the students to take the first balloon that they found and hand it to the person whose name was written on it. Within 5 minutes everyone had their own balloon. The professors said to the students: These ballons are like happiness. We will never find it if everyone is looking for their own. But if we care about other people's happiness....we'll find ours too. Happy Holidays! Be there for others during this rough Time you will be surprised by the positive outcome

15.01.2022 During Book Week in Term 3 the Platypus Room children worked collaboratively to create their own class stories. They brainstormed the characters, events and dialogue for the story as a class and then some of the children helped to illustrate each page. They have created some very imaginative and funny stories including: Monday - Ruff Ruff's Skateboard Adventure Tuesday - Rabbit's Treasure... Wednesday - The Mermaid and the Unicorn Thursday - Rex the Hungry Dinosaur Friday - Kitty the Cat visits the Doctor. Have a read of their fantastic stories. Miss Kirsten and the Platypus Room Educators.

14.01.2022 Next time you nurture a dysregulated child, notice how breathing and heart rate decrease, and the body relaxes as they enter into a calmer biological and emotio...nal state. How we respond *most* of the time builds resilience against how we may respond some of the time, when we too are dysregulated. A sincere apology and improved responses go a long way in modeling how to repair relational rupture. Which is inevitable. We all need relational safety to grow in emotional resilience. I think people struggle the most when they feel alone in their emotions. When they have no-one they trust to share their thoughts and dreams with, or empathize with their most uncomfortable feelings, mistakes and experiences. Having a trustful compassionate person to share your true feelings with is life-changing. It can be life-saving. Parents and caregivers are this safe place for children to empty out their hurts and fill up their love tank. It makes sense for them to find their own trusted adult people in order to unearth peaceful practices and become their own safe place too. We all need to empty our hurts and fill our love tanks in ways that promote wellbeing. It's never too late to learn and practice how. Lelia. 08.01.2022 Fun fact Monday. Today Darcy, Henry and Charlie constructed a building for the cars and Semi’s. This led to a conversation about the similarities their building had with the Sydney Opera House. This soon led to the platypus children researching the Opera House using the interactive whiteboard. Did you know the architect designed the building after being inspired by orange peels?
