24.01.2022 : !! Agriculture Minister Adam Marshall MP will next week introduce ne...w laws which will see an act of aggravated animal cruelty attract a $110,000 fine (up from $22,000), and the possibility of two years imprisonment. The new laws will also see pet owners who fail to provide the basics like food and shelter be faced with a $16,500 fine (up from $5,000), and the possibility of six months imprisonment. Animal Welfare League NSW CEO Mark Slater said " We welcome the proposed new changes from the Minister and look forward to working into the future with the new laws to ensure the best possible welfare outcomes for all animals.". Animal Welfare League NSW is one of the only three regulating bodies authorised to exercise powers under the NSW Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. Our Inspectors are authorised to seize and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect, and our team are on the road every day protecting animals, educating owners, providing emergency rescue and investigating allegations of animal cruelty. "The changes to these laws will help to support our Inspectorate in ensuring cruelty offenders will be dealt with seriously in court.".

Hi, my name is Calamity Jane. I came into the facility as a stray and sadly no one came to collect me. I am a lovely lady, don't let my age fool you, I definitely have a lot of life left in me! I am a gorgeous, smoochy dog with an adorable smile. I have never really had any training or boundaries put in place in my former home, and I would really love an owner who is willing to invest time and training into me. I would definitely benefit from a calm, confident and firm owner that will create a special bond with me, so we have a mutual respect and understanding. I am sure to become a loyal and loving pup. I am a bundle of enthusiasm when it comes to walks - my enthusiasm means I can be strong on lead as I am so happy to be out on a walk! So, if you are as excited about walks as I am we might be a perfect match!? I am a bit of a princess, and I require a home all on my own, no other dogs or animals, as I like to be the Queen of the castle, and the focus of your life. I will make a great pet for the right owner, who is willing to shower me with love, and also show me the way the world is supposed to be. 14.01.2022 UPDATE !!!!!! VLEK IS BACK ON TRACK !!!

02.01.2022 WHY IT ISNT OKAY TO DROP YOUR DOG LEASH IN ON LEASH AREAS! It is council regulations to have all dogs on leash (that means holding the leash) in all areas exc...ept designated off leash dog parks and beaches. Hefty fines if spotted by a ranger. Dog attacks are all too common. You need to be holding your dogs leash to control them and prevent them from wandering to close to other dogs. Because dropping the leash is the same as having no leash It causes stress to other owners. Any dog, no matter how well trained, can react badly in a split second. Leashed dogs may feel very anxious when an unleashed dog is near them. When walking dogs there are a range of dangers including joggers, cyclists, skateboarders, and scooters. If your dog is unleashed it is difficult for you to quickly move them from danger. You may miss where your dog does his and therefore not scoop it up. If you insist on dropping the leash or allowing them off leash in on leash areas, ask yourself why. Does it make you feel good that your dog can walk well beside you? Be assured it does not make other people feel good and they are generally not impressed by your behaviour. Here at Doggie Dates NSW we expect your dog to be leashed and for you to be holding the leash on all formal walks and even on informal walks that are organised between members when advertised on our page. Of course, our team may not be there to monitor this but if we have complaints, we will not hesitate to remove people from the group. We do ask members to speak up and remind people that their dogs should be on leash and not just leave it to us, we can not be in all places at once, we do not see everything. All of us need to be advocates for doing the right thing. Finally, we are not against off leash dog parks or off leash beaches, they are wonderful when responsible dog owners use them. We even have members that meet up at off leash places regularly, such as the Ettalong Romp run every Wednesday on the Central Coast with a group of Central Coast Doggie Dates members meeting there. It is an off-leash part of the beach. We welcome this! So PLEASE if you meet up formally or informally through Doggie Dates NSW leash your dogs and hold that leash unless you are at a leash free area! THANK YOU

01.01.2022 Welcome Tonka to Rockys Family. Tonka was surrender to Rockys, we had to go and pick him up because of personal problems within his family. He is adorable.... Tonka is 2.5 years old, Kelpie and Husky mix. Tested at the shelter with another dog he was excitable and wants to play but no aggression. He is very strong on the lead so this needs working on, other than that he is our teddy bear

01.01.2022 **ADOPT ME!!** RUBBLE Smart, Friendly giant!... Reference number: 32977 Estimated age: 2.5 years old Adoption fee: $328 Size: Large Gender: Male Breed: Mastiff X Background: Lost Desexed: Desexed: No. All animals will be desexed after adoption, which takes 1-2 business days Rehoming priority: High Available for purchase Rehoming organisation number: R251000115 Hey! My name is Rubble! First off, let me tell you how I got here. I was out exploring, and got a bit distracted and couldn't find my way home. Luckily I ended up here where I get regular food, lots of exercise and plenty of play time. I waited for my owner to come and get me and sadly they didn't, but its okay! While I am enjoying shelter life, I would prefer to be in a home. I try my very hardest to be a good boy, I know how to sit and I concentrate really hard to sit still but sometimes my feet just keep moving. My carers call it a happy dance. I'm full of energy, and show my excitement through my whole body, I've been told I probably need to learn some better manners around kids because I'm just so big!! If you take time to teach me new things I will pick it up pretty quick, I'm a good learner. I have made many dog friends at the facility, my favourite would be Diesel (you should come and meet him too) He's a big boy like me, and we're best buds. So if you have a dog that needs a pal I'd love to meet them! I do need a dog friend that can keep up with my energy though. If you're looking for a big, smart, goofball, who you can teach new things to, and share a world of adventures with, then I'm you're guy!! I'm excited to meet you! https://www.campbelltown.nsw.gov.au//AnimalsForAdopt/32977
