To assure the future of the Southern Resident killer whales, Ken Balcomb's group Center for Whale Research has purchased a ranch bordering both sides of the Elwha River with the view to protecting the spawning Chinook salmon. J, K and L pods desperately require secure Chinook salmon supplies, their chosen prey, so this is a brilliant solution and a timely, vital conservation action.... Congratulations Center for Whale Research on rewilding the wild! (P.S. FYI - we at Centre for Whale Research (Western Australia) Inc. in Australia formed our non-profit research group on the format of Ken Balcomb's Center for Whale Research group).

03.01.2022 Recently Micheline Jenner from CWR visited Perth Waldorf School presenting current information on whale research techniques and findings, as well as relevant global conservation issues and solutions to two Year 7 classes. Teachers Kevin and Trish with their wonderful students of Class 7 Kulbardi (meaning Magpie in Noongar) and Class 7 Wardong (meaning Crow in Noongar), respectively, were beautifully attentive and asked many informed questions. This is the third year running f...or this ongoing collaboration of CWR with Perth Waldorf School where the students donate $100 to Tangaroa Blue, an effective organisation coordinating beach cleanups and rubbish analysis for the reduction and prevention of plastic pollution.
