18.01.2022 Friends, we are immensely happy to be sharing the first look of the digital festival Rajendra and I are organising called Kal Dwraka 2020 which will be stream...ed for free on Shaale.com from 1st to 14th November 2020. Life of classical artistes is on stage, where they bear their heart and soul through their performances ! This very experience was taken away by the pandemic. It was Smt Sudha Murthy ji from Infosys Foundation India, who first reached out to us with her interest to support artistes who were facing a setback. But along with this noble intention, we also felt the need to provide artistes, both dancers and musicians, a forum to restart their performances adjusting to this new normal. Hence, we created Kala Dwaraka as a doorway for classical artistes to come together and collaborate. Our State of Karnataka is gifted with so many fine and most promising talents! And in this edition of Kal Dwraka, we are proud to be featuring 24 dance concerts (solo/duet) being performed to Live music. This celebration marks the coming together of more than 50 classical artistes with all health and safety mandates in place. The digital program is in fond memory of Shri. T. V. Dwarakanath from Prabhath Institution who has inspired us with his unconditional service in the field of classical arts! We are very grateful to have Shaale as our Digital Media Partner and Prabhath Auditoriums Private Limited as our Venue Partner. Keep watching this space for more details regarding the festival streaming. 12.01.2022 On the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, it gives us immense pleasure to have 20 legendary dance maestros tell us why they dance. Why I Dance is a globa...l campaign by Kalanidhi Dance in collaboration with IndianRaga that seeks to unite the global dance community during the pandemic, coming together to remind ourselves why we dance and why we must keep dancing. We invite everyone to participate. Film a short video of yourself: one minute of dancing and one minute explaining why YOU dance. Upload the video to your social media channels with hashtag #WhyIDance, and tag @indianraga and Kalanidhi Dance, to join the movement! We will share the best videos on our social media channels, and feature your message. 08.01.2022 EATING WITH YOUR HAND... The ritual of eating with the hands in India is very popular even out of India amongst Indian descendants. Is there a reason why we do... this? Oh yes. Believe it or not. This is actually a "RITUAL" using what we call as "Mudra" Well, what is a "Mudra"? The Mudra is a symbolic or ritual gesture or pose in Hinduism. This involves hands and fingers in a certain gesture used for multiple purposes such as good health/control, Balance, control of energy and even communication such as in dance forms like Bharathanathyam and kathak. So when we eat with our hands we form a Mudra with which symbolizes humility and grace of being humble. According to the Vedas, the hand is considered to be a very important part of the body. In Ayurveda, we say that each finger of the hand consists of an element, that being: Agni (fire) , Jal (water) , Vayu (wind) , Prithvi (Earth) & Aakash (space). Hence it is believed that when the fingers consisting of the 5 elements come into contact with the food entering the mouth, it benefits the body and health and increases the value of the food.

03.01.2022 Dance doesn’t discriminate. It sees no colour, no size, no language, no ethnicity or religion as a barrier. It has no preference and embraces everyone. It’s fre...e, available to all, doesn’t require a qualification ,only a desire to move and preferably some music. Imagine being viewed only for your passion and ability to inspire people through movement. What a remarkable world we can create if we took more lessons from this and Danced through life.
