With 1 in 6 people in Australia living with hearing loss, this is such an importan...t message to share around with everyone. During this time of mask wearing, having the mouth covered is making communication even more difficult & stressful for many people with hearing loss. Our Mask Advocacy Campaign is helping to spread the message that its ok to move your mask. As a woman with a hearing loss, I have to be honest and say that I really dread having to go out in public & speak to people when Im getting my shopping or essentials. It makes me feel more confident in asking someone to move their mask, knowing there are government guidelines in place to support my request. People with hearing loss are often excluded or particularly challenged when it comes to accessing conversations on a daily basis. - Courtney .
