19.01.2022 Some great news today for the club with Dougie King confirming he will be taking on the Reserves coaching role this year after stepping in to help out in 2020 post covid. With many years of combative footy behind him, Dougie feels his body is not in a position to play seniors in 2021 so will be a playing coach this year. Dougie showed in his time as coach last year that he has great knowledge and a calm approach that will be a huge benefit to our young group striving to improve to enable future senior selection. The club is extremely happy to have Dougie on board where he will work closely with DT and Webbie throughout the year.

18.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:6 Piraphat Phaobanfang- he can be anything he wants to be if he’s prepared to put in the work. Very fast, silky skills. Plays like Michael Walters. If he starts to believe in himself the way I believe in him he will be a very dangerous player that opposition defenders will struggle to control.....

18.01.2022 Please see below correspondence from AFLQ. I will keep you all updated with any further news. The Queensland Premier today announced the Qld border will close to NSW as of 1.00am this Saturday. As such, there will be no cross border games played this weekend or in the foreseeable future in the QFA Division 2 South competition. AFL Queensland is currently reviewing the situation in relation to games scheduled this weekend and beyond. We will advise all clubs in due course as... to how we move forward with games for all twelve affected clubs. We appreciate your patience during this time. Regards, Barry Gibson

17.01.2022 Congratulations to the Richmond Football Club on an impressive winning culture. It was interesting seeing Dustin Martin win his 3rd Norm Smith medal and for the 3rd time immediately conceal the medal so it wasn't visible for his team celebrations. Imagine your best player being so aligned with his TEAM that he actively avoids drawing attention to himself and his historic accomplishment by focusing the attention on the TEAM rather than himself. When your stars are humble, your culture is strong. WEnotME

16.01.2022 Wishing all of our Magpie members, sponsors, supporters and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We appreciate your support throughout what has been a tough 2020 for all and we hope to see your faces back at the Nest in 2021. Enjoy tomorrow, stay safe and see you all in the new year.

12.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:4 Michael Crewes- lockdown defender that is no frills and just gets the job done. Capable of shutting down the best key forwards in the comp. Plays like Alex Rance, always reliable and hates being beaten.......

10.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:7 Bradley Dowlman- tough as nails mid/defender who runs hard all day. Can win the inside ball or be damaging on the outside. Plays like Joel Selwood and is another who will be a future leader of this club.....

09.01.2022 Article in the GC Bulletin by Tom Boswell. COOMERA’S BUILD Coomera haven’t had much to celebrate in senior football in recent years so their gritty three point win over Robina on Saturday is one to be cherished.... Coach Dale Turner enjoyed the team’s first win under his watch, with the Magpies sneaking past Robina 7.9 (51) to 6.12 (48) at Scottsdale Drive. Full forward Cooper Cook, midfielder Dougie King, centre half-back Michael Crewes, and half-back flankers Harrison Mackenzie and Luke Reynolds were among Coomera’s best. Coomera coach Dale Turner detailed the work that had been put in to getting the struggling club in a position for success long term. We have got a really young side. There are a heap of colts and the average age is around 20, Turner said. In some respects the first couple of games it was men against boys. There has been steady improvement each week and for the boys to get a win on the board in round 3 was a big thrill and pleasing for the coaches. There is a long way to go but we will take the wins as they come. We will build this group together and recruit in the coming years. We are young out of necessity with the cards we were dealt. We made a call that there may be short term pain for some long term game. If the group can stick tight then they can do something special in the next three years or so. The thing we have lacked over the last few years is a positive environment. It hasn’t been one they have wanted to stay around.

08.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:3 Nick Del Din- runs all day, can play anywhere you need him. Plays like Mark Blicavs, very versatile and never gets beaten......

08.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:5 Luke Reynolds- runs the lines hard like Patrick Dangerfield. Very quick/skilful mid/halfback who takes the game on at every chance. Very creative with the ball....

Vice President: Daman Foy Vice President: Danny Anyos Treasurer: Vacant Thankyou to the above members that have committed to the club for the 2021season. It's great to have some new faces on board which will definately benefit the club in its persuit to become a club of destination on the nothern Gold Coast. We would like to thank our outgoing secretary Nakia Williamson for her commitment and dedication to the club over the last 4 years in the position and also our treasurer Denise Williamson for stepping into the role for the 2020 season. We are on the hunt for a treasurer so if anyone is keen to get on board please contact us. Previous experience in bookkeeping is a must. Our general committee will be confirmed over the next week so if your keen to help in any capacity please contact any of the above. We will now get to work to ensure we provide all our players with a great environment to not only play but a club that all or our members can be proud of.

07.01.2022 YOUNG GUN:2 Cooper Cook- he’s a man mountain up forward. Plays like Tom Hawkins, one grab mark, doesn’t miss set shots, mr reliable in front of goals. I don’t believe there’s a fullback in the comp that will beat him one on one.....

04.01.2022 Looking for some fun, Masters footy is back at the nest

04.01.2022 To our Coomera Magpies footy family, we hope you celebrated and stayed safe last night and we wish everyone a successful 2020. We look forward to seeing you all at the club when training kicks off on the 14th. As we move forward into a new season we need to look forward. Outside of the colts having another good year, last year was disappointing for all involved. This does not define us as a football club, we will draw a line in the sand, step over it and never look back. A ne...w year will give us new opportunities, how we take them will depend on how much we have learnt from our past. So where to from here...............? For those of you who are reading this, YOU CARE, you have been or are still part of this wonderful football family that has provided so many memories over the past 10 years of its existence. I do care but what can I do........? You can do plenty and in many differing roles, there is one that will suit you and for that reason you will love it. You don't have to sign up to be an exec or committee member or even attend games but what you do will help the club and its members enormously. Just think of it like this......have you ever turned up to the club and asked yourself "why don't they do this, why hasn't that been finished, that looks terrible, I have a better way of doing that" if the answer is yes then WE NEED YOU. There are often many reasons why things aren't done around the club, main ones are lack of help and funds. Funds are normally a harder get but you can help. Yes, its been a bit of a long post and I thank you for reading it but in brief we want to see you all back down at the club in 2020. If you can offer help in any way please contact me, over the coming weeks I will be posting some required jobs and roles that need addressing, small bits of help by many will see us looking forward to a succesfull future sooner than you think. President Rob Templeton 0416 185 842
