18.01.2022 MORE INFO on Tomorrow's Burn A planned burn of Lot 3 Dayboro Road, Whiteside is scheduled for Tuesday 21 July 2020. The burn is required to reduce the volume of forest litter fuel, thereby reducing potential bushfire hazards. 17.01.2022 There are lots of worthy people out there. If you know one why not think about nominating them.

17.01.2022 PLEASE LET YOUR NEIGHBOURS KNOW Waste collection services disrupted, but bins will be collected Waste and recycling bin collections will be disrupted next week, with the Transport Workers Union notifying that their drivers will strike on Mondays starting next week (16/11/2020). Moreton Bay Region residents are assured that their rubbish will still be collected, although maybe not the same day. It’s estimated the strike action will create at least a one day delay on your usual... weekly household waste collection. Your fortnightly recycling collection may be delayed for a number of days but all bins will be collected within a week of the usual collection date. Cleanaway, Council’s waste collection contractor, will operate with a skeleton staff to ensure their waste collection services can continue. As long as you leave your bin on the kerbside, it will be collected. To ensure Cleanaway’s staff can process the increased workload there will be additional conditions temporarily enforced on collections: Overloaded bins will not be collected, the bin’s lid must be able to be closed. Overflow waste on the ground around bins will not be collected. If you bin is blocked by an on-street vehicle or other obstruction, it will not be collected. These rules will be enforced from 4:00am on Tuesday 17 November through to 4:00am on Saturday 21 November. Thank you for your understanding. See more

11.01.2022 GARBAGE COLLECTOR STRIKE As far as I am aware Cleanaway are still in dispute with their workers. Therefore, there may still be problems next Monday.... Please leave your bin out until it is emptied. Drivers are also "working to rule" so they probably will not be emptying bins that are overflowing and the lid is not shut, bins that are obstructed by a car and they will not be picking up rubbish at the sides of a bin. Please share this news with your neighbours who aren't on Facebook. Many thanks, Mick

05.01.2022 Feral Pig Control FYI Council’s Pest Management team has continued to assist landholders with feral pig management. During November, 39 feral pigs have been removed from the Samford and Highvale areas - bringing the total number of feral pigs removed across the region this year to 76. Feral pigs cause significant agricultural and environmental damage... and are known for spreading a variety of diseases. Feral pigs are classified as restricted invasive animals under the Biosecurity Act 2014, meaning everyone has a general biosecurity obligation to minimise the biosecurity risk they pose. Council officers have also been investigating new technologies, specifically aimed at controlling feral pigs, through the use of a new product Hoggone. This product contains low doses of Sodium Nitrite. Most animals can tolerate low to moderate doses of Sodium Nitrite, but feral pigs are highly susceptible to this compound. Image is one of the 39 feral pigs removed from the Samford area during the trial of Hoggone. (picture taken from surveillance camera) Council officers will continue to assist landholders throughout the region to manage invasive animals using a variety of control techniques. If residents are having issues with feral pigs, or other invasive animals, they are encouraged to contact Council on 3205 0555 or email [email protected]. See more
