14.01.2022 ***ITALIAN REPUBLIC DAY (Festa della Repubblica)*** Festa della Repubblica is the Italian National Day and Republic Day, which is celebrated on 2 June each year.... The day commemorates the institutional referendum held by universal suffrage in 1946, in which the Italian people were called to the polls to decide on the form of government, following the Second World War and the fall of Fascism. With 12,717,923 votes for a republic and 10,719,284 for the monarchy, the male descendants of the House of Savoy were sent into exile. To commemorate it, a grand military parade is normally held in central Rome, presided over by the President of the Italian Republic in his role as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The Prime Minister, formally known as the President of the Council of Ministers, and other high officers of state also attend. There are important celebrations in all the Italian embassies and foreign heads of state are invited. Even though the main parade is in Rome, many Italian cities celebrate the day as well.

07.01.2022 The only way we are going to beat COVID-19 is by working together even if that means staying apart. So far, we are all doing a great job, but please don’t be complacent; we have a while to go before we are in the clear. Social gatherings are still banned, and social distancing of 1.5m is a must if leaving home for the essentials. Please stay home and stay safe this Easter. 06.01.2022 Mayor's Message 3 February 2021 Dear City of Wanneroo residents, It has been a week of extremes, with Perth in lockdown and facing the third day of an evolv...ing bushfire emergency. Our community’s resilience is set to be tested once again. A bushfire Advice is now in place for some areas in the City and challenging conditions are forecast in the coming days, meaning the situation could change very quickly. It is imperative that you keep a close eye on Department of Fire and Emergency Services WA and www.emergency.wa.gov.au and heed all alerts and warnings. The heartbreaking scenes of the fires are all too familiar for our community. My thoughts are with all those affected particularly those who have lost their homes. As always, we are prepared to step up to help in every way possible. Our bushfire brigades are on standby and ready to respond when called upon by DFES to do so. These hard times have once again highlighted the incredible generosity of our community. The City has already been contacted by residents who would like to assist those affected by the bushfires. Anyone who wishes to help can donate to the Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund, which was activated today visit www.perth.wa.gov.au/LMDRF. While the next few days will be challenging, our Premier Mark McGowan delivered some good news for WA, announcing today a third day of no local transmission of COVID-19. Once again, I would like to thank all of our community. Your patience and consideration for the wellbeing of others is very much appreciated. Keep well and stay safe Mayor Tracey Roberts JP

04.01.2022 Wishing my friend and Ward Council Colleague Brett Treby- Councillor, City of Wanneroo a happy 60th Birthday for today .

04.01.2022 From tomorrow, WA public schools will be open for Term Two. At every stage during this crisis we have acted in accordance with the expert health advice. Follo...wing that advice has been critical in ensuring the state has a fighting chance in the war against this virus. The advice about schools remains clear - the risk to students and staff remains extremely low. So, as school returns, we are encouraging students to attend, but the decision is ultimately up to parents and carers. Whichever choice they make, students will be supported, whether they’re in the classroom or learning remotely. And we’re spending an additional $43 million to dramatically increase the amount of cleaning at our schools throughout each school day. A range of additional measures have been put in place to protect teachers and staff as well. These arrangements will be in place until the end of Week 3, and will then be assessed and reviewed, taking into account the latest health advice and trends. We all know how essential a good education is, and we know the best place for learning is in the classroom. One day this pandemic will be behind us. When that day comes, we want our children in the best position possible for a bright future.

03.01.2022 Mayor's Message 5 February 2021 Dear City of Wanneroo residents, As we come to the close of a very long and challenging five days, I am delighted to say the... week is finishing in a far more encouraging way than it began. Thankfully, the Wooroloo bushfire situation has eased but not before leaving a path of destruction that included 86 homes and more than 10,500 hectares. The City’s bushfire preparedness measures remain in place as we monitor the situation but the downgrade in alert status gives us confidence, thanks to the amazing firefighting teams from all over WA and the country. While we were fortunate the bushfire did not cross into the City of Wanneroo, our thoughts are with our neighbours who lost so much. If you would like to show your support for the communities affected by the fires, please consider donating to the Lord Mayor's Distress Relief Fund. Visit www.perth.wa.gov.au/LMDRF. Over to another focus this week, the Premier has today announced the fifth consecutive day of zero local COVID-19 cases recorded in WA, after nearly 50,000 tests were conducted since Sunday. We can now look forward to the slight easing of restrictions from 6pm tonight as we exit this week’s hard lockdown. The Perth metropolitan and Peel areas will enter into a post-lockdown transition period from tonight until 12.01am Sunday 14 February. For all the details on the transition measures, visit the State Government website: https://bit.ly/2LiE1pH While there will be restrictions in place, restaurants, bars, gyms and retailers will be able to reopen, which is good news for our local businesses. We are all required to register when visiting venues or businesses and wearing a mask in public and while at work is compulsory under the transition plan. Most City-managed facilities and services will reopen at normal operational hours from tomorrow but please visit the City’s website for updated information on opening times and restrictions: www.wanneroo.wa.gov.au/covid-19 I remind everyone visiting a business or service in the City or anywhere else, that registering using the QR codes and the SafeWA app (or signing in if there’s a written register) is mandatory from 6pm tonight. Apart from being a State Government directive, it is also a way to help our State’s contact tracers swiftly and effectively manage any risk of community transmission. Finally, I would like to take a moment to thank our community, our City staff, our emergency services and our neighbours across the region and across the nation, for showing the value of collaboration and unity during these crises. Enjoy your weekend and stay safe. Mayor Tracey Roberts JP

03.01.2022 We are always finding ways use our medium to contribute and give back to the local communities we love and support. Team Streetside has proudly donated an adv...ertising package to the Men's Shed North to support and improve Men's mental health. Aligning with Streetside's values, the Men's Shed particularly seeks to ensure that men from all backgrounds and belief systems regardless of social or economic status are made to feel welcome and accepted as they actively interact with each other in a spirit of mateship. The Shed aims to be involved with their own contributions to community projects while supporting individual well being. You can find out more at www.northshed.org.au, or pay them a visit at Unit1/288 Gnangara Road, Landsdale.
