25.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 Support students participated in blind taste testing of authentic kangaroo sausages. They were first asked to identify the sausages by sight before cooking. After blind tasting both types all students picked the kangaroo sausage. Our vegetarian students only taste tested the veggie snags cook especially for them. All students participated and all enjoyed a snag sandwich at the end of the lesson.

21.01.2022 Once upon a time Fish and Chips were traditionally wrapped in old newspaper. Some people referred to a new newspaper as tomorrow's fish-and-chip wrapping. In the 21st century; our Year 12 VET Hospitality students follow Australian Food Safety Standards and have mastered preparing & cooking crumbed fish, serving a seaside meal on a plate with a slice of lemon and homemade Tartare sauce. This assessment task was the last for 2020 with exceptional results.

21.01.2022 Transition 2020 FOOD TECHNOLOGY IS THE BEST! After an introduction to the wonderful world of Food Technology and the importance of Hygiene and Safety in a kitchen area students were keen to create Chocolate fountain kebabs made with marshmallows and grapes, topped off with salted chocolate pretzels. Students truly enjoyed this hands on practical lesson.

18.01.2022 "Learn as much as you can about the culture and participate." - Aunty Deanna. Each year, NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, who are part of some of the oldest continuing cultures on the planet. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #NAIDOC2020 *Posted by the NSW Department of Education*

12.01.2022 A massive congratulations are in order for Deanna Arenas who has been very deservingly selected to have her work exhibited at not 1, but 2 Galleries as part of the 2021 ARTEXPRESS Exhibition. Her work, "The thread that binds us", has been selected by the curators of The Armory Gallery at Sydney Olympic Park and Grafton Regional Gallery. This is an absolutely phenomenal achievement and we are so incredibly proud of her! For those who don't know, ARTEXPRESS is an annual exhibi...tion of exemplary artworks created by students for the HSC practical examination in Visual Arts. It represents the outstanding standards and diversity achieved by Year 12 Visual Arts students in New South Wales schools. 8678 completed the Visual Arts course in 2020, of that, a couple of hundred are nominated for ARTEXPRESS, from there, less than 100 are selected to be a part of the annual exhibition. It is an incredible honour to be nominated for this prestigious exhibition, even more so to be selected by the curators from various galleries around NSW. Attached are images of Deanna's work, the photos do not do the intricacies, details and concept that is imbued with tradition and connection, justice.

12.01.2022 DTHS Catering Team 2020 COVID safe preparation and service of food in individual portions when our students were catering for their first function in 2020 had brilliant results. Morning tea included a variety of mouth-watering sweets baked early morning and served with freshly brewed coffee from our Barista trained students. An individual portion was also served to our Principal Miss Harding who commented that ‘The food package is spectacular!!!. The BBQ Chicken Salad served with either mayo or dressing contained vegetables and herbs handpicked by Ms. Saunders fresh on the day from our school farm. Grape kebabs and watermelon gave a final addition to a healthy lunch. Congratulations to our amazing VET Hospitality Catering Team.
