25.01.2022 What affirmations do you have for yourself?

24.01.2022 Gentle reminder from Wheres My Bubble.

21.01.2022 Some ideas that help @jessrachelsharp What do you to help when youre feeling stressed or drained? instagram.com/jessrachelsharp/ #anxiety #anxietyhouse #feelingstressed #100daysofhelpfulreminders #mentalhealth

17.01.2022 You know how when you go shoe shopping and you take a few pairs of shoes and try them all on in a couple of sizes? And even though 2 pairs of shoes in varying designs are in the same size they dont fit the same? Or how about when a friend of yours looks great in one pair of shoes but the same pair looks less amazing on you? (Phew! That was a long pretend scene! ) Well therapy is kind of the same! Let me break it down: therapy is not a one size fits all; everyones exper...ience of therapy is going to be different, and what someone else might have found to be effective in helping them manage their symptoms may not be as effective or may not even work for you. So just because one or a couple of strategies do not work well for you, doesnt mean that youre broken beyond repair or that therapy doesnt work for you, or that your therapist is a quack. Sometimes you have to give it time; talk to your therapist about whats working and not working. Together, you and your therapist may be able to collaboratively find a solution that works for you. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork See more

16.01.2022 Is what youre currently doing working well for you? Is it giving you the results youre after? If its not, why are you still doing the same thing and hoping for a different outcome? If you want change, youve got to make that change. That doesnt mean making drastic life changes, sometimes that change can be something small: sitting with your anxiety for an extra 30 seconds before distracting yourself, having one less takeaway meal a week to save some money, putting your phone away 5 minutes earlier. All these changes may seem small, but theyre a step in the right direction, and they mean change. Because didnt Einstein once say: the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?

14.01.2022 Just the reminders you may need when your brain is beating you up.

13.01.2022 Feeling mad, bad, or scared may be unpleasant, but the way we feel often isnt the problem. Rather, its the way we behave in response to those emotions internally and externally that impacts our experience of those emotions. Your emotions are there for a reason: they tell you something is up and that you need to do something to rectify the situation. But reacting to emotions by ruminating, trying to fix it, or engaging in unhelpful coping strategies, leads to majority of t...he issues we experience with these emotions. Something that could be more helpful next time you feel mad, bad, or scared, is the acknowledge how youre feeling, and focus on what you can do in the here and now to feel better. Think breathing, reading a book, going for a walk, calling a friend, or having a good cry. Take a moment to validate those feelings that have come up before trying to make them go away. See more

12.01.2022 Admitting that you need help or a moment to yourself requires courage in its starkest form: vulnerability. Vulnerability means baring your truth to other people, and removing the mask we often present to the world, and doing so takes guts.

11.01.2022 A Three-Hour Intervention for Phobias and a Four-Day Therapy for OCD. Intensive treatments are on the rise!

11.01.2022 #internationalwomensday Happy International Womens Day to all you queens out there! Be confident in you and choose to be the queen that fixes each others crowns rather than bring them down

11.01.2022 Misophonia (dislike of sound) is sometimes confused with hyperacusis, in which sound is perceived as abnormally loud or physically painful. One can be driven crazy by a dog licking its paws. Another cant bear the pop of the plosive p in ordinary conversation.

10.01.2022 The way we react and communicate can sometimes not be helpful to someone suffering from OCD. If you, yourself, do not have OCD, try not to compare your own ex...periences to the disorder or downplay the seriousness. Maybe try validating the person's feelings? 08.01.2022 Getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can be daunting, but it does help when you have a supportive network of people around you! The team at the OCD Clinic Brisbane and Anxiety House had a go at Ariel Yoga today! It was a great way to try something different and push the boundaries of what I was comfortable with! When did you last try something new, push yourself out of your comfort zone, and just let go? @ Bend and Fly Yoga

07.01.2022 Needs are needs. You cannot train a child to not have needs, you can only train her to not express them. The needs remain. Irrespective of whether they are exp...ressed or inhibited, the needs remain, and there is now solid evidence linking unmet childhood needs to later mental health issues. ________________________________________________ #parenting #gentleparenting #consciousparenting #parentsofig #kidsofig #baby #mentalhealth #childdevelopment #feelingsmatter #healthykids #healthyfamily #mother #father #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealth #womenshealth #selfcare #lovingkindness #wellness #wellbeing #mindfulness #yoga #meditation #health #healthy #healingfromtheinsideout #psychology #words #writersofinstagram #rachelsamson

07.01.2022 MIA Ive been MIA for a while; weve been on vacation and been transitioning back to reality! Unfortunately, life has been a little relatable to this comic! @theawkwardyeti Somedays I find that the more I have to do, the more I can get sidetracked and consumed with other insignificant tasks or the black hole of social media. Ive been reflecting on that and can safely say its got more to do with the have to mindset rather than the actual tasks themselves; more ofte...n than not when I actually sit down and get started, I quite enjoy the tasks Im undertaking So how can we break this cycle of getting sidetracked, falling behind and feeling overwhelmed? Start by changing how you tackle your tasks mentally: 1 Change have to to going to (Im going to call my accountant today/now). 2 Work on limiting the use of social media or your smartphone/tablet daily. Even outside of getting tasks done. Youll be surprised at how much time is often lost mindlessly scrolling. 3 Break it down. Break tasks down so theyre not overwhelming to even contemplate starting. 4 Reward yourself as you progress through the list. These dont have to be big and can be as simple as treating yourself to your favorite cup of tea while looking out the window See more

06.01.2022 Every New Year, many people jump on the resolutions band wagon, committing to making various changes in their lives. While I dont personally believe in New Year Resolutions, I can understand the allure of New Year New Me. Dont get me wrong; I have nothing against resolutions, I just dont understand or prescribe to the idea that one has to wait for a new year, a new month, or even Monday to roll around, in order to commit to making a change in life . Worse still, Ive ...seen the number of times resolutions fail to work out in February/ March, leading to a sense of failure or hopelessness . I recently stumbled upon this quote on one of my Instagram scrolls and really took to it. A new year means 12 new chapters and 365/366 new opportunities. It means everyday is a new day to make a change, regardless of how successful or unsuccessful you were the previous day So if you have to make a New Years Resolution this year, maybe keep this in mind. Or better still, make this your new resolution: Everyday is a new day for a new opportunity, whatever that goal may be See more

06.01.2022 Love this graphic by @positivelypresent ! We dont choose to feel mad, bad or scared. All emotions are valid. But when we feel these emotions, we can choose whether or not we want to get fully caught up in them or if we want to dial the intensity down. Ruminating or trying to problem solve emotions often serve to perpetuate and intensify them Instead, try acknowledging these emotions and making space for them. Thank your brain for letting you know that something is up, then make a conscious decision to focus on the present moment and move forwards So next time you catch yourself feeling mad, bad, or scared, ask yourself: am I being my own poison or medicine?

06.01.2022 Worry keeping you up? Worry is the most unhelpful insurance policy our brain has taken out. It tricks us into thinking we are being productive and problem solving The reality: most of us spend unhelpful amounts of time ruminating on the same problem, or get caught up in a never ending spiral of what if and problems that could eventuate . Often we either a) already have a solution and are stewing; or b) find that none of the catastrophic outcomes anxiety concocted eve...r come to fruition. When nothing bad happens, worry convinces us that crises were averted because we were prepared (ie worrying about it). So the next time you find yourself getting caught up in worry, maybe try asking yourself if this is something that is giving you a solution or if its creating a bigger problem . If its the latter, it might be a good time to try pressing pause on that worry by engaging in another task, listening to some music , doing some mindfulness meditation , a deep breathing exercise, or by simply taking note of it , thanking your brain for the reminder, and moving on. Remember, there are more ways to overcome worry. If in doubt, always speak to a professional for tailored solutions | @theawkwardyeti See more

04.01.2022 What is meta OCD? This wily characteristic of the disorder is when OCD attacks the treatment process or the individuals perception of their symptoms. While we... know that OCD is not an adjective, many people refer to meta OCD as being OCD about OCD. This can manifest as trying to do treatment just right, second guessing symptoms, and getting caught up in thought spirals about ones progress. Often the most effective way to address these symptoms is to embrace the imperfection and uncertainty that is inherent in such a complex disorder. Can anyone relate to these symptoms? 04.01.2022 In sessions with clients, I often get clients to think about "successful challenges" to set as exposure tasks. These challenges are less about their success and more about how confident it sets clients up for exposure or behavioural experiments; because confidence = increased likelihood to attempt exposure and willingness to tolerate discomfort and anxiety Sometimes clients come back and exposure hasn't gone as planned: they got stuck somewhere and discomfort got the bette...r of them That's still success though: because they tried something different! From there we work out a way to make it successful for next time Many people fall into the trap of wanting to "get better" quickly, and try to "jump in head first" and just "get it over and done with" The reality is that recovery is so much more than that. Recovery is a process of self discovery It's about understanding why what happened did, and getting to know yourself again; Reaquainting yourself with your (sometimes under-acknowledged) strengths and weaknesses and developing personalised adaptive coping strategies to manage distress and discomfort What this translates to sometimes are SMALL changes that over time contribute to the bigger picture. Sometimes these changes are as simple as recognising that you can choose to experience distress to engage in something meaningful to you, rather than feeling "coerced" into avoidance due to fear. But every small step is a step in the right direction. Even if that step looks like you're standing in the same spot as you were last week So what's your successful challenge you can set yourself up with?

01.01.2022 You have $86,400 in your account and someone steals $10 from you. Would you be upset and throw all of the $86,390 away in hopes of getting back at the person wh...o took your $10? Or move on and live? Probably, move on and live...right? We all have 86,400 seconds in every day so dont let someones negative 10 seconds ruin the rest of the 86,390 you have.
