22.01.2022 || 1 DAY BEFORE THE CROSS || The day before His crucifixion, Jesus prays for His friends and washes His disciples' feet. He also shares a final meal with them, one of great significance... "...Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many... for the forgiveness of sins. - Matthew 26:26-28 + "During this last supper, Jesus sets apart the Passover bread and cup and reassignsor better, perfectstheir meaning. "...every time we uphold marriage to the detriment of the gift of singleness, we are diminishing the beauty, the wonder and the sufficiency of the GOSPEL. 20.01.2022 || SATURDAY: THE FORGOTTEN DAY || The day after the cross, Jesus' lifeless body rests in a tomb. The chief priests, who had plotted His crucifixion, should have been pleased. Instead, today the words of Jesus are at the forefront of their minds. +... "The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. Sir, they said, we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead." - Matthew 27:62-64 + "On the day between Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Jesus’s prediction preoccupies their thoughts such that they simply can’t leave it alone. 10.01.2022 || GOOD FRIDAY || On the day of the cross, an innocent Jesus died the death of a criminal. He was stripped, beaten, mocked, spat on, and pierced with nails through His wrists and feet. He endured suffering and separation from His Father, and He did it all out of love for us. "But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed." - Isaiah 53:5... + "After a severe beating, Jesus is nailed to a cross where he remains for six hours until dead. Never before or since has more been lost and gained at the same time. 02.01.2022 || PALM SUNDAY || As we prepare our hearts for Easter, we encourage you to read through The Gospel Coalition's article "Easter Week in Real Time': https://www.thegospelcoalition.org//easter-week-in-real-t/ On Palm Sunday, 5 days before the cross, Jesus rode into Jerusalem perched on a donkey...... "And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest! + "The story of Lazarus’s resurrection had circulated so that many regarded Jesus as a celebrity. As he rode into Jerusalem, the people cried, Your King is coming!
