23.01.2022 Today’s speech to Council called for a Byron Shire wide moratorium. Mayor Simon Richardson spoke to our NRFST Group for 25 minutes during a break outside chambe...rs and for the first time said that he wants 5G, that he is for it and that he doesn’t believe 5G is unsafe. Simon also said that he believes the majority of the Shire are in favour of 5G. The mind boggles! We currently have 11 proposed 5G towers in the Shire, 5 of these 11 are within a 500m radius of a school or childcare centre which goes against NSW Department of Education policy to keep base station infrastructure outside a 500m radius of a childcare or school, hence their objection letter to the upgrade in Byron Industrial. Simon acknowledged that for the past 18 months nobody is putting their hand up to take any "ACCOUNTABILITY on the risk of our children and planet suffering harm or damage. As for council, he feels this is out of his hands. The fact that Simon won’t even take a moral stand on this issue when our children's lives are at risk is heart-wrenching! Moreover when asked why he think the Byron Shire community want 5G- he said for faster speeds. We explained that fibre optics is faster, more reliable and poses no danger why would he risk this beautiful community with an untested, risky technology when we have a safe technology option. The Byton Shire Council could leave a legacy and become the Fiber Optic capital of Australia. Council represents the community, at a grassroots level. It's a vital part of democratic process that Council stand for the safety of the community, as was done with another environmental toxin -fluoride. How Simon thinks this is not classified as a local community issue is beyond me. With this logic, you should be able to buy a block of land and build whatever you want without council approval. It’s time RISE up! Because 5G is on now on our doorstep. The only thing that will stop this avalanche is power in numbers holding vigil at the tower sights. See more

They have in part stated: There is a long list of reasons that this is not plausible, but a key one that is readily understood is that SARS-CoV-2 contains particular RNA that is unlike RNA in human cells. This RNA would have had to come from another virus - it would not assembl...e from human RNA. Indeed, this paper talks about genes and DNA - not RNA, that is the genetic material in the virus. Such a fundamental error should have immediately discredited the work. 5G, like all microwave radiation may suppress melatonin production and may suppress the immune system so it may be one of many factors contributing to an adverse reaction in covid by some. However 5G DOES NOT CAUSE COVID.

Rodney chairs the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which sets the guidelines for human exposure to electromagnetic fields. The guidelines have been updated this year for limiting exposure between the frequency range of 100 kHz to 300 GHz, with 5G in Australia planned to operate at 26 to 28 GHz in the near future. With all electromagnetic radiation, it really comes down to how much there is. A microwave oven uses a similar frequency to what we use for mobile phones. If the exposure is high enough, you'll cook someone and you can kill them but we have international standards.
