23.01.2022 Enjoying the magnificent views of the "C Restaurant" in Perth, last Sunday. Many Business Operators entertain their clients. It is seen as a necessary marketing expense for their businesses. Unfortunately, even though there seems to be a direct connection between the expense and the generation of sales income, entertainment expenses are not tax deductible. "Providing Entertainment" means - > providing entertainment by way of food, drink and recreation. ... > providing accommodation or travel in connection to the entertainment. > providing recreation activities which includes amusement, sport and leisure time activities. However, some specific entertainment expenses are tax deductible - > cost of meals provided to employees on the commercial business premises occupied by the business. > cost of meals in certain business seminars. > meals on overnight business travel. #TaxDeduction #SuccessTaxProfessionals #EntertainmentExpenses

22.01.2022 A lot of taxpayers are attracted to "dodgy tax agents' in order to boost their tax refunds and reduce their tax. However, the taxpayer is ultimately responsible for the accuracy of their lodged tax returns.

22.01.2022 Congratulations to Paul Elson. At the National Retirement Living Awards 2019, Paul was the WA winner of the award for Village Manager Of The Year. Paul manages Arcadia Waters Geraldton which is part of the Acadia Group. Paul has been a client of Success Tax Professionals (Woodvale) for several decades. We have witnessed his success from operating a small Perth based Garden Maintenance business several decades ago to being a successful manager of Retirement Villages. Paul has demonstrated that perseverance and commitment eventually leads to Success. Paul will now be representing WA at the National Awards which will be in Queensland later this year.

20.01.2022 The Government is about to clamp down on people who are receiving both JobSeeker and JobKeeper payments. I would have thought that they would have procedures and controls in place to prevent this sort of rort from occurring ?

18.01.2022 The Federal Government has now extended the deadline for early release of tax free superannuation. The deadline was 30th September 2020. It has now been extended to 31st December 2020.

17.01.2022 One of my business clients, a fresh fish retailer (Selfish in Applecross) has put up a rough looking poster stating that he accepts Cash. Too many businesses... now, due to COVID19, wont accept Cash anymore. This is a major Paradigm Shift. It isnt too long ago when many retailers would only accept cash. See more

16.01.2022 Things are going to get very difficult for businesses when the Government ceases the JobKeeper Scheme at the end of September. The Banks have agreed to extend loan deferrals for a further 4 months beyond September.

15.01.2022 The Australian Tax Office (ATO) revised the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) threshold effective 1 July 2019. Key things to note: The new LCT threshold for the 2019-20 financial year is $67,525 (up from $66,331 that applied for the 2018-19 financial year) For fuel-efficient vehicles the LCT threshold for the 2019-20 financial year remains the same at $75,526. What this means is that if a business purchases a $500,000 Lamborghini, the maximum depreciation tax deduction that can be claimed is $67,525. (Yes, that is me in the photo).

07.01.2022 The debate over the $10k cash ban continues. I personally think cash transactions over $10k should not be illegal. Has anyone ever booked a holiday and dealt with a Travel Agent ? To avoid extra fees for credit card payments, paying via cash is the only way.

05.01.2022 The Federal Government is hinting that there could be Tax Cuts announced when the Federal Budget is tabled in November 20.
