23.01.2022 We had a wonderful day at Sunnyside yesterday with Toronto Adventist school. The students learnt all about Ellen White, her ministry, her work in the community and her vision for mission. They played in the grounds and were impressed with the museum. To quote one boys statement "This is Epic!"...I think he enjoyed it! Please encourage other schools to visit and learn about Ellen G White and our church history. James Nix Carolyn Parkinson

18.01.2022 A step back in time.. some history about Avondale Memorial Church which was first established in the late 1890s while Ellen White lived at Cooranbong. The fore site of Ellen white to build a church for 400 members was incredible at a time where there was only about 60 students at Avondale and 60 locals. These photos below are of the new building being built over the existing building in the 1970s.

16.01.2022 Before Ellen White left Australia in August 1900 a book was collated containing farewell messages from those that had met her from all around Australia and New Zealand. Each day of her voyage on the ship back to America she had a lovely message to read. We will be sharing some of those messages on this page as some relate to churches that still exist today and many family descendants will enjoy the messages. A full colour copy is held at the EG White Research Centre at Avondale. The first one was written on Wednesday August 29 1900.

03.01.2022 Mountain View Adventist College students sitting at Ellen Whites table praying at Sunnyside. Ellen would have been proud. I asked the students what countries they represented and there were many countries.. to name a few...samoa, fiji, india, england, new zealand and many other islands of the pacific. I spoke to them about how Ellen White was instrumental in setting up Avondale College which sent many missionaries to the countries they represented. There was a spirit of gratitude amongst them.with Joy-Marie Butler Sam Lett and Carolyn Parkinson

02.01.2022 Sunnyside was the home of Ellen G. White (1827-1915), a pioneer of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her ministry, spiritual guidance and visionary leadership... extended over many years covering countries such as the United States, Europe and the South Pacific. From 1891 to 1900, she lived in Australia and in 1896 settled in Cooranbong where she was instrumental in setting up Avondale College of Higher Education. Sunnyside homestead was built in 1896, on a choice spot of 40-acres. Today, the cottage reflects the life and work of this influential Seventh-day Adventist pioneer. Mrs Whites literary works contain more than 100,000 pages. Here in Australia she completed writing one of her classic volume on the life of Jesus, The Desire of Ages. She showed Christian compassion to the needy of her time and practiced the great principle of Gods love showing what it means to be a loving and lovable Christian. The South Sea Islands Museum features artefacts collected by missionaries who have worked in the various countries of the South Pacific during the past century. See a full-sized war canoe, view displays of objects used by tribes, clothing made from natural fibres and artefacts from indigenous cultures throughout this region. The Museum currently has a very large collection of shells on display. The house and museum are open Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, 2:00 4:00 p.m. 27 Avondale Road, Cooranbong, NSW 2265.
