13.01.2022 Lisa Douglas #FacesOfEpworth I’m a Registered Nurse working on the Medical Ward at Epworth Freemasons. I moved from Regional Victoria in 2019 to pursue my career in nursing & before the pandemic, I loved to explore Melbourne & what it has to offer. I’m currently in a seconded role of Nurse Educator. I’ve always found educating & being a mentor to grads very rewarding. The most rewarding part of working as a Nurse Educator is seeing how the work we do builds a solid foun...dation for the hospital & enables the staff to practice in a safe environment. I put up my hand to be seconded to aged care earlier this year & it was a unique experience due to working so closely with COVID-19 positive residents. It was a very rewarding experience as we came to know the residents & develop bonds with them. The role included all general nursing duties & spotting, donning & doffing PPE. It also included working closely with residents with mental health issues, & residents (as well as families of residents) dealing with COVID-19. My work life has changed dramatically since last year. It has been busy upskilling the whole hospital in Donning & Doffing, maintaining mandatory training & making sure all staff are aware of the latest changes in policies & procedures COVID-19 related. It has made me realise now how vital education in nursing really is. See more
