25.01.2022 Due to the COVID changes announced by the QLD Government today, our clinic will no longer be contactless from 12pm Thursday 1st April, 2021. However, compulsory mask protocols will remain in place. We kindly ask that all clients comply with the following measures: Avoid attendance if you are unwell. We ask that only one healthy person wearing a mask accompany a pet into the clinic. (Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children at this point in time.)... Please call the clinic from your vehicle to let them know when you have arrived, as we will have limited capacity in our waiting room. We would like to reinforce that we will continue to maintain our disinfection measures within the clinic. If you have a pet emergency during this time but are unwell, please call us to discuss the best way for us to ensure your pet receives the best care.

10.01.2022 Paralysis ticks While Paralysis ticks are more commonly seen in the warmer seasons and less common in cooler months, Paralysis ticks are actually present all year round. 9 month old Lou Lou was transferred to us from the 24 hour emergency clinic last week for observations after under going paralysis tick treatment. Lou Lous owners had found 2 paralysis ticks near her neck and they were concerned as she was showing mild signs of tick paralysis. Luckily, her symptoms ...were caught early and she made a full recovery . We recommend tick prevention all year round. Even though they are more common in the warmer seasons, they are still around in the cooler ones. Signs of tick paralysis include: Unsteady or wobbly in the back legs A change in their bark or meow Heavy breathing or panting If you are unsure if your pet is up to date with parasite preventatives or need help choosing a product please give us a call on 3354 1688 and one of our nurses will be happy to help.

10.01.2022 Meet little Noodle Noodle came in the other week for his desexing procedure and a Umbilical hernia repair. Did you know ... Umbilical hernias are usually congenital and are caused by a failure of the umbilical ring to close in utero or at birth. Most are thought to be inherited and affected males may also have retained testicles (cryptorchids). Small umbilical hernias may resolve spontaneously in young animals but if this does not occur they are generally repaired at the time of neutering due to the risk of intestinal strangulation.
