22.01.2022 With the weather getting hotter outside spare a thought for your pets. Bring them inside where possible, provide plenty of water for outside pets and a shady area. Also think of the little animals and birds, give them a bowl of water too with a rock in it just incase they fall in, this gives them something to hold onto until they can get out. #coolpets #toohotoutside #waterforlife

11.01.2022 Merry Christmas to everyone The night before Christmas The Kelpie Version Twas the night before Christmas, and asleep were the dogs... Not a creature was stirring, not even a frog. The stockings were hung where Red couldn’t eat And young Harry was snoring, asleep on my feet At last all were nestled, all snug in their beds, While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads. When out of the night came a pittery pat, And the soft glowing eyes and the purr of a cat. With a cheeky miaow she strolled into the lounge And surveyed the scene For the best place to pounce. Top of the armchair Or the cupboard right by? So many choices for the best place to fly. With a stretch and a wiggle That feline took flight Along with tinsel and baubles and miles of lights. The crashing and cracking of each shiny ball Could be heard from afar As it fell to the floor. Red woke with a start, his confusion was brief. He and Harry went running to see off the thief. But as they rounded the corner, what did they see? That dumb cat ,wrapped in tinsel Trying hard to break free. Well, the dogs hit the tree and through the window it flew, And the cat saw a chance and followed it through. They sprang into action ,Boy those kelpies can fly, And followed the cat out that window so high. When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. Well they all stood there staring, Trying hard just to think. I knew in a moment it must be St Nick. With his reindeer and sleigh and presents galore, I stood there in wonder and stared out the door. Now Lucky he said to that naughty fat cat, There’ll be no more pouncing. Look! You’re tree is now flat And I know that you think you’re just chasing a thief, But all good puppies should be asleep Christmas Eve His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow, And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow. With a magical wave he put everything right. The tree was back up with its twinkling lights. The stockings were soon bulging with treasure While two kelpies and a cat watch on in rapt pleasure. He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. But I heard him exclaim, ‘ere he drove out of sight, Merry Christmas to all, and to the kelpies , good Night. & : Fran Lennox-Roberts
