23.01.2022 It turned out Mr Finch's 'junk' was extremely popular with people who visited the only bush town museum of its kind in Australia. "We've had people visit from Ballina, Coffs Harbour and even as far away as Norway and Germany," Mr Finch said. "Anything we made from the museum we gave 100% to Legacy." While in the merchant navy between 1942-1988, Mr Finch started bringing items home from his trips, then three of his eight children joined the high seas and have all contributed t...o the museum. Every item has a story, and even when put on the spot, Mr Finch couldn't claim one individual piece as a favourite. 07.01.2022 AFTER sailing under three flags during WW2, Kyogle resident Frederick Bradley Finch has been recognised for services to maritime history preservation. Mr Finch's service includes a serving in the Norwegian, US and Australian merchant navies and he made a remarkable contribution as the Founder and Coordinator, Finch Family Maritime Museum, for over 60 years until 2015.
