25.01.2022 OK Challenge Time - there are 47 photos in this post. How many times can you find the trip Mascot SHREK in the photos? Closest wins a green lime milkshake! Day #4 Early start, off to Aramac, a bucket list place for this trip. One of the few places in Qld I have never been. I also wanted to see the sculpture trail, the photos tell the story here. Can you spot the Trip Mascot in any of the photos? It is in almost every photo I have posted on this trip so far and into the futu...re. The sculpture trail is about 200km loop from Aramac along the Jerrico road and the back via Lake Dunn road. The first 100km of the trip on Jerico road was very challenging with varied road conditions from good to very rough hard clay to deep sand. Had to change my undies a few times on this road, especially in the sand. Was very hard going with about 200kg of bike and gear + no brakes. Anyway I made it through. Campfire Tonight 30km north of Alpha in the bush by a creek.

09.01.2022 Days #3 Sorry everyone I got slack on posting so I'll do it now. Had a good night at the Cracow pub. Fred Brophy wasn't there, his son Fred was running the bar that night and. I met a few of Fred's close friends. Including one of his main offsiders who had been working with him for 30+ years. Day 3 was all about making miles. I rode from Cracow to Barcaldine, about 800km. It was fairly uneventful except for the fact that my back brakes started to stay on so I had to back th...e adjustment off. Only problem with that was no back brakes any more. Being Saturday afternoon I found myself in Alpha and the servo was closed. I decided to push on for Jericho and as Murphy would have it, a headwind was chewing up my fuel quickly. Again noone at the servo in Jerico so went to the pub and asked them is they could sell me fuel. They suggested I knock on the door at the servo. As luck would have it when I got back to the servo the owner was just walking out the front. He filled me up and I was back in business. A quick beer back at the pub to thank them for their help and off to Barcaldine. Stayed at the Union Hotel. The owners have been there for 50 year. Had a good feed there and a chat with a few locals. Early night. See more

08.01.2022 Day #6 Time to head for home. But not without ticking off another road that I haven't been on before. Thanks Kerryn for the tip. After heading into Injune, I took the Injune - Taroom road. The 157km of road that has very good tar at both ends and 70km of dirt in the middle. Another bit of a challenge in some spots, with some sand, rutted clay and loose gravel. Back brakes would have been handy at times. The rest of the day was on the highways just heading home. About 700km f...or the day and a sleep in my own bed tonight. The end. Stats: Day 1 - 261km Day 2 - 411km Day 3 - 798km Day 4 - 454km Day 5 - 557km Day 6 - 792km Total about 3200km

07.01.2022 Ok ... Heading off on a tour on my Beamer next week somewhere in QLD... Where should I go?

07.01.2022 WOOF WOOF! ROOF ROOF!

05.01.2022 Day #5 packed up camp at my leisure this morning. A tin of creamed rice for breakfast and on the road by about 8.30am. Headed into Emerald to replenish the tinned sausages, peas and corn and creamed rice. I was headed for the Acadia Valley, another bucket list item for the trip. I have heard over the years that this valley has some of the best cattle country in Australia and I have never been there. It is a great ride with spectacular scenery along the way, the valley is dry ...at the moment but it still looks great. A good excuse to go back there after it rains. Along the way is Lonesome Gorge which is also a sight to see. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Brad and Kerryn Piggott of Christmas Creek, where they breed the best droughtmaster cattle in the world, In the next valley over. Thank you for your great hospitality at short notice Brad and Kerryn. A few beers, a few more beers, a few red wines and a couple of headaches the next morning, but great fun. Thank you again, hard to believe it's been 30 years since I worked for you and John.
