24.01.2022 FIRGUN’STARS The girls hit some exciting new PB’s for their deadlifts in last weeks training! ... 1 first video- @alexisanako taking 102.5kg for a nice double! Alex is -3weeks out from her first ever comp and has been struggling with a slight hip pinch and some pain around the knee from a previous surgery, with the help of a sports therapist and some altered training, we’ve been able to keep Alex on track and ready to make her platform debut! 2 second video- @hkgarth also smashed out a double at 102.5kg in preparation for her second comp in -3weeks. Hannah’s previous best was 100kg back in July. Hannah has faced many obstacles this prep and has stayed dedicated and hungry through the entire process. We’re so excited to see Hannah rip up the platform in a few weeks time! 3 third video- @talithatravers hitting a nice 5.5kg PB from her previous third attempt deadlift in June for a 122.5kg double! Tal has been eating in a surplus for the last 15 weeks after a string of aggressive diet periods, this has enabled her body to heal and recover as well as providing more energy to build the most amount of muscle possible to lift the most amount of weight possible. She is now maintaining weight into comp in -3weeks ready to take the U64kg weight class closer to weight and stronger than ever before! For all coaching and nutrition enquiries, DM the page or use the contact details provided to get in touch, we’d love to hear from you! Firgun Strength and Performance

24.01.2022 Alex had an amazing first competition at JPS OPEN VI! Alex first started training with our team in the beginning of July. She was full of energy and excited to start her powerlifting journey. Dedicated to her training and nutrition plan, she was prepared for her competition, mentally and physically. Also overcoming frustrating knee pain from a prior ACL injury and a pinch in her shoulder from a few weeks out of training.... Her performance was impressive to say the least. It was an amazing day being apart of Alex's success, we cant wait to see what she will bring in her first full powerlifting year in 2020. S: 90kgs B: 54kgs D: 110kgs See more

22.01.2022 Last night on @triplejhack there was a huge discussion about various eating disorders and their association with the gym setting and environment. Now, it comes as no surprise to us that the culture of the fitness industry and it’s focus on weight loss, 6 week challenges and dieting have had a huge impact on the wider population. However, it has saddened us to hear so many awful stories of individuals experiences over their fitness journey! Weight loss, dieting and training in... general CAN be a beautiful, empowering thing - if you have a positive and meaningful experience with it. Equally, it can have the reverse effect. Here at firgun, we want to eliminate those negative experiences and demonstrate just how empowering it can be! We offer what is called; nutrition coaching. This means, you are given nutritional advice that is individualised, person centred and tailored to YOUR goals, not ours. This means that we focus on adapting your perception of: weight loss, purpose of training, fuelling the body and most importantly, non scale related goals ie, feeling more energised, feeling empowered, gaining knowledge about your body and what you are putting into it, recognising their is no guilt in food and their is no such thing as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ foods. We don’t want to sell you a quick fix or a 6 week challenge where there is a winner. What we want to ‘sell’ you is a better understanding, variety in your eating. We don’t typically like to use the word ‘dieting’ unless it is for a specific reason - there are many. We like to view it as a lifestyle, because the only change that is worth working towards is something sustainable and something purposeful and enriching. Our role, is to make ourselves redundant - we want to work WITH you to give you the knowledge to eventually go it alone with the confidence you know what you’re doing. If you’re interested in any of our services we currently provide, or you have any questions in regards to nutrition or training, we welcome you to get in touch! See more

17.01.2022 Come and check out what’s going to be an awesome day! Everyone is welcome.

14.01.2022 Yesterday the Firgun Strength and Performance Team competed at JPS OPEN VI. Our first competition marks the beginning of our culture that we are building in Bendigo to establish a sense of fulfilment not only in our own training, but in everyone that trains at Firgun Strength and Performance. We had a really successful day as a team, each lifter competing in their own element but coming together t...o support one another despite competing themselves. This is a culture we endeavour to manifest further to build an entire empire of supportive and encouraging athletes. It was really fulfilling to have people we look up to and view as role models give our team praise for the encouragement and energy we bring to the competition. The ability to provide this opportunity for powerlifters in Bendigo wouldn't be possible with out the unconditional support I receive. Thankyou to my family, friends and athletes who support our humble community. @jpshealth_fitness @powerliftingaustralia @ JPS Health & Fitness

12.01.2022 Some new covid-19 friendly guidelines for our equipment gals and boys!

11.01.2022 G’day Team! Unfortunately, the time has come where we must enforce the current dhhs guidelines about masks in our facility. This means, wearing a mask when you are using the gym and remaining socially distanced as much as possible when other members are in. During exercise where you are puffed out or it is high intensity, you do not need to wear masks. However, you’ll need to have one ready to put back on once you have finished your set, this includes rest times and walking a...round the gym. As there is a shortage of masks and they’re $1-2 per mask, we are requesting you bring your own. However, we are doing our best to try and get our hands on some! We want to keep sharing our space and enjoying everyone’s atmosphere in the gym for as long as we can so we really appreciate you all doing your bit to help out! Much love and happy lifting! 10.01.2022 Hannah had her second competition at the JPS OPEN VI. If you ask Hannah about her competition she'll say that she didn't compete at her best on the day. But I couldn't be more proud of how she performed as her Coach. She gave 100% of her self to every lift, not giving up until it was impossible to move the weight. This attitude and dedication is all I can ask for from my lifters. ... Being passionate, bold and resilient with her efforts, Hannah walked away with a Personal Best on all lifts in competition. She also managed this after losing 4.3kg in 11 days out from competition. At the end of the day Hannah added 12kg to her total and 3rd place in the u72kg class. But more improtantenly she learnt valuable lessons about competition and it has fuelled a desire and hunger to decimate the bar the next time she's steps on the platform. Together we have formed a plan to manage weight into competition to avoid drastic cuts altogether. Being comfortable and hydrated for next comp she will no doubt annihilate her previous best lifts. 06.01.2022 WINTER IS COMING We are organising some sick new threads for the colder months which are upon us! We’re all about our Firgun fam looking whilst also arming themselves against the cold. Below are the options available, it is possible for design variation, just ask and you shall receive. DM the page if you’d like to put an order in!

05.01.2022 Tal had her last comp of the year at JPS OPEN VI two weeks ago. She dedicated her time and energy into becoming the Pocket Rocket and launching onto the platform. Tal competed in the stacked u64kg class with 9 other amazing Women. She was focused on beating her own lifts, not concerned with the competition in her class. Oh boy, did it pa...y off! Absolute laser focus when executing lifts, extreme confidence and a quiet humility made Tal the strongest version of her self. Ticking off mulitpule goals such as a 300kg total and double body weight deadlift, none could compare to the excitement and joy Tal was consumed by when she benched 70kg in competition. Ever since Tal started powerlifting that was her number one goal... Now it's 80kg. Tal is an amazing role model for people who aspire to lift with a sense of "Firgun". It's been my pleasure helping her discover her strongest self on and off the platform. Together we have created an annual plan to achieve her new goals. We can't wait for the new year!
