23.01.2022 Here it is! The often requested yet rarely delivered SHORT POST! Its american oak floorIng! ... Yep its amazing! More pics and BIG post soon!

21.01.2022 How did we go thru covid? Just like most businesses we had a small meeting with all our staff and said "this isn't going to stop us" and we buckled down for a wild ride with a few changes! Over night we pretty much decided that 2020 would be a year of survival and making money wasnt the main concern! Just getting thru was the main aim and we all commited to that! ... For me it was time to finally pull the lever on a few ideas I had in my head and the main one was stepping up our social media presence! For years I've known what we should have been doing and the time finally came to do it! I just didnt relise how much of a difference it would make! Like most businesses we expected the workload to slow right down but for us it went the other way, massively! Of all the places you wanted to stay away from it was Melbourne but we landed our biggest job which was amazing and scary at the same time! 2020 didnt quiet turn out the way we expected! At our covid meeting we had 3 of us! Dimity, Mick and myself! Since that meeting we have had a few things happen! We had a facebook advert go nuts with over 60000 views in 6 weeks! I loved it! Some people didnt appreciate it! It'll be back! We employed Adrian full time sanding floors! We completed a few big commercial jobs in melbourne with more to come! We employed greg to run the truck and be our gun labourer! We then got Josh on board installing hybrids and vinyl planks! We bought the ram! Then we scored with Jess coming along to push the envelope with developing systems and procedures to stream line everything! Yep so far 2020 wasn't anything like we expected but it sure has been wild and things have changed! If you have a dream, keep chasing it and one day it'll work out! It only took 15 years for mine to fire up! When things change the less they stay the same!

20.01.2022 Don't let them do it! Have you seen a double story home with an amazing timber stair case but someone applied that ugly anti slip tread tape? Unfortunately something has to be done on stairs to get the r10 rating on a new home but it realy doesn't have to be tape! ... If its water base coating or solvent we have a solution for both applications which we provide a certificate to prove it meets the requirements! So don't take the risk of removing tape once the house has been handed over! If aunty marg takes a tumble and ends up like a twisted up slinky you will have a real pickle on your hands! For waterbase we use loba and nothing else! We coat the treads as required over the full system so on those high traffic stair cases u'll have 4 coats of protection! Do it once, do it right! Antislip without the ugly tape!

19.01.2022 Do you want something different? Do you love the aussie species like tas oak, spotted gum and blackbutt? Yeh they are all amazing floors but sometimes a house will come along and it soon becomes clear that something else would be even better! ... This beautiful new home is almost complete and was originally quoted to be tas oak! Just looking at the plans I knew it'd be nice but I knew something that would be even better! One night I met the client in the showroom and when I showed her the Tas Oak panels I knew that it just didn't hit the spot! She told me, I agreed! So with a quick shuffle and spin we both laid eyes on "american oak" and it was love at first sight, the decison was made! Some time passed and we finally got around to installing and finally polishing this amazing floor! To be honest this floor is amazing and suits this new home perfectly! If your looking at the pic and thinking "but thats a stair case brian!" you would be correct, its not even our handy work hpwever we did sand and coat it! But it is American Oak and the ram is American so why waste such a great shot! Next week ill grab some pics of this amazing installation by Mick and stunning polishing work by Adrian! Once the builder has shared this new home we won't be far behind showing off another Bauch Timber Floor that we are all very proud of!

18.01.2022 The heat is on and its hot! With Christmas knocking louder and louder we are under the pump! At this time of year if I get home before midnight I consider that an early day but when we have so many jobs like this one its hard to complain about the long days, 7 days a week! ... This year we have done so many amazing new floors and when I say "im living the dream" I realy mean it! The floor in this beautiful new home is stunning! With a promise of hand over before christmas it has been completed in a very respectable time frame and the quality is spot on from everyone involved! Tonight I'll be rolling on the first coat and tommorow we will be completed! If you dream of timber floors in your beautiful new home this will be one you need to see!

18.01.2022 There are guys who lay floors! There are guys who do a good job! Then there is Mick! ... Mick doesn't just do a nice job! Mick is bloody awesome at installing solid timber boards, parquetry and hybrids! Hes also a great fella who I have been mates with for over 25 years! Just when we started to crank up our other business Mick started working for us and there is no doubt Micks been a major part in our success the last 4 years. When quality goes up and everything gets easier, you know you have great guys who truely care about the big picture, not just payday! Thanks Mick! Your the best by far!

14.01.2022 This hasn't been a secret for us! With almost 2 months worth of work this year on the new W hotel we probably know it more then we should! It was a great job that i'll remember for quiet some time for many reasons but its definetly the job that has created some great opportunities for us! ... If you ever wonder how hard you can push your self physically and mentally take on a project that push's everything outside of your comfort zone and well beyond! The pain is well worth the effort when you meet amazing people that I have no doubt will last for many years, personally and business! Thanks for letting us be part of such an amazing project!

12.01.2022 Im busting to show this job!! But you will have to wait untill I can't handle it anymore!! Its a time consuming installation which isnt ideal with everyone chasing a handover before Christmas but i'm confident this new home can be completed in time! ... If your looking to build a beautiful new home with top end quality the guys at soc group are a great place to start! This floor is going to be stunning but this new home is a standout thats for sure! Don't be surprised if we reveal this floor before its completed! Www.socbuildinggroup.com.au

12.01.2022 Woop woop!! We hope you had an amazing xmas and new year with plenty of awesome food and times with family and friends! So we havnt been posting much at all but we have pretty much worked right through with the main days off due to such a large work load but thats ok! ...Continue reading

11.01.2022 Its time! When your timber floor looks like this its time for a resand unfortunately! The biggest question we get asked is "how long will it last before we have to resand?" which is a good question. ... Over the last few years we have learnt a far better question and that is "when should we do a maintenance coat?" It can make a big difference to your floor and also you hip pocket! A full resand 10 to 15 years down the track will cost between $3500 and $6000 on average where a coat will cost around $1000. The biggest benefit is a recoat will rejuviante the floor and cover 90% of scratchs and make it last another 5 years on average before needing another coat. The trick is to do the coat before the floor is past the point of no return but every house and floor is different! So a fresh coat every 4 or 5 years will save a full resand for most people but it also saves removing timber off the floor every time it would have needed a full resand! yep that timber cant be put back and a recoat is far easier then a full resand! This one has gone past the coating time but at almost 20 years old its done a great job and will be amazing all freshened up!

09.01.2022 Time for an update? The best time to do floor prep is before everything else starts! These tiles are still in good nick but dated so we are laying a new floor over the top! ... They would have been easy enough to remove however they are going to help with heights in the bathrooms thats now getting tiled shower bases instead of daggy porcelain shower bases! If we removed the tiles thru the house the new floor height would make it hard for the shower bases so this will be the best result by far! Nice prep work greg!

07.01.2022 Have you ever tried to do a realy nice job of something and save a buck or two? It just never works out to be worth it because the result always suffers and what's the point of a sub standard job just to save $20? We stopped operating with that theory years ago and these days so we know that spending a few more bucks on labour or materials always pays, it doesn't cost! ... In return for a little bit extra we get a whole lot less! Less problems, not less quality or work! So when we are on your job and your paying us a little bit more then other quotes its always justified and we guarantee a quality job because its our reputation, not just written on a peice of paper that realy doesn't mean to much unlike our reputation that means everything to us! It certainly means allot to you! This is the very reason we use Wakol for all our floor preparation and adhesives! There's nothing better and its not cheap but it never gives us grief! Quality costs but it certainly pays!

04.01.2022 Ole Melbourne town is definetly coming back to life. Its been a pleasure spending quiet allot of time down there the last 12 months but the big days and pressure on these commercial jobs can be quiet demanding. By the end of the week the new W Hotel will be all wrapped up and it'll be nice to have that ticked off the list! ... Today Greg and I spent the day coating more guest rooms while Adrian busted out another job for Multiplex in Lonsdale st. Adrians not just a great fella but he is one of the hardest working floor sanders i've ever met! He is definitely the most commited to getting the jobs done that are on a tight deadline like todays job! How hard does he work? Today was 45m2 that had to be completely finished and thats what happenened! fully sanded and 3 coats down by 5pm! Jobs done! To say the guys at multiplex were skeptical this morning would be an understatement but they never though it would have been completed today! Thanks boys They say "team work makes the dream work" You should see what gets done when your building a dream team! Thanks Adrian! Simply the best!

03.01.2022 If theres a good time to be working in the city its definetly now! Its still very quiet so theres plenty of parking close to the jobs which is always handy but i'm sure it won't be long and it'll be back to the busy place it once was! We spent most of the day back at the new W hotel prepping for a massive day tommorow then stopped past another big site for a peek and measure! ... Around a month ago I met with the joinery/carpentry company to discuss this exciting installation and I actually thought we had lost the job because I was fairly blunt with how accurate this stage of works would need to be for us to take on the job. To say its good wouldn't give the guys building it enough credit! Its spot on! They still have some work to do but i'm confident this job will be absolutely amazing when its completed! Ps. Quiet often I get asked "how do you go parking in melbourne in something so big?" Its simple really! Fits like a glove!

01.01.2022 Our specialty! It took us years to work out the best way to install solid flooring directly onto a concrete slab and its still evolving! These days Mick does our solid timber installations and he is no doubt the best installer I have come across any where! ... With so much to get done before the end of the year i've jumped on this one to give him a hand and to be honest, i do feel like an apprentice doing what i'm told but thats ok! Its all about doing a great job and i'm in micks world right now, so i'll shut up and follow his lead!
