15.01.2022 When I was a hunter . . Funnily enough this prompt came to me after watching a very urban tale. I have just watched the @nytimes series Modern Love on @amazonprimevideo . Each story is unique and compelling in its telling of love. The episode that spurred this poem was the one about a pregnant woman giving her baby to a couple so she can continue her hunter gatherer life on the streets. I won’t give more detail here. Go watch it. It’s such a deep and multifaceted story. I rel...ate so much to this memory of walking the land. Of not having a fixed home. Of not succumbing to the rules of modern life. Of walking and walking. 15.01.2022 Rain and Song . I have married these two fourlines as they were written together though I can see how they could also stand alone. And maybe this is reflective of my feelings now about how things are so connected. I’m thinking of nature right now. I’m thinking about the trees in the Amazon. I cry. I weep. And I think of Joni and her song Big Yellow Taxi written in 1973 They took all the trees And put 'em in a tree museum And they charged the people A dollar and a half to see...m 'em And I’m thinking about my 8 year old daughter reciting Joni’s lyrics to me in her pretend speech as a leader of the Greens party. Everything’s connected. I’m thinking back to my first membership of an NGO as a teenager being @greenpeaceap . And I pray. In my way. Song and rain.
