24.01.2022 Hi everyone, wondering if anyone has a tarp we could borrow to use at the garden site so that we can undertake solarisation on the grass area before building our beds? We'll need a few and of course some sunshine. If close to the garden, I can collect from your porch on my daily walk. Take care and stay safe.

19.01.2022 THANK YOU to everyone that came along to our working bee last Sunday and helped build our community garden beds and clean up the surrounding spaces. The energy was fun, friendly and supportive and it was great seeing neighbours and the local community meet each other. We can now see how this space will be used with the frames of the communal beds in place.

17.01.2022 Hi Everyone We are delighted to announce we have been successful in receiving a Darebin Council Community Grant! There has been a lot of work behind the scenes to get us to this point and I would like to thank Darebin staff, Councillors and neighbours who have supported this new community garden.... Now the work begins to transform the space into a productive garden for the community, starting with the water tank from Yarra Valley Water through their community grants. The tank is being installed in August. Please continue to follow the page for updates and let you friends and neighbours know. We are looking forward to meeting you all once we are able to socialise again. Stay safe and well everyone!

16.01.2022 Look out for these scary kids tonight. Happy Halloween.

16.01.2022 Beneficial insects are wonderful additions to the veggie patch. They can keep so many pests under control create welcoming environments by avoiding chemical pesticides -there’s lots of home recipes out there that won’t cost the earth

16.01.2022 We were very excited yesterday when we saw this truck pull up at Regent Community Garden. A BIG THANK YOU to Bunnings Thomastown, for their kind donation of materials which we are using tomorrow to build our new communal garden beds. #BunningsThomastown

15.01.2022 A great companion plant for any productive garden are nasturtiums, in Melbourne these self seeding annuals that return spring and summer are edible- even the flowers! They come in a variety of yellows and reds and their scent disguises the scent of your veggies from pests.

14.01.2022 Hi Everyone, A reminder we have a working bee on at the Regent community garden tomorrow - Sunday 13 Dec, 11am-1pm. Come by and say hello.

13.01.2022 Join me at Sylvester Hive Community Garden and enjoy an afternoon with this lovely group.

12.01.2022 Hi everyone, So a quick update on our application to build a community garden at Regent has been put on hold by Council for further discussions in March. However, I have recently been notified that Darebin Council are upgrading the tennis courts and facilities at GE Robinson Park. Council is building a new facility to be used by the club and the community and are looking for community suggestions.... Come along to one of the Darebin Council community consultations at the park- Saturday 1 Dec at 10am-1pm Wednesday 5 Dec, 3-6pm and ask for a Community Garden or at least a space for us to build one. It would be a great place for a Community Garden.

Also, now that gardening work can resume in small groups, we are moving to clean up the site and we are now calling out for any tree stump removalists in our community, or if anyone can assist or recommend someone. They are small stumps in width but there is about 12 of them (see image). We are keen to remove these stumps and start planting some fruit trees
