22.01.2022 I promise i will get a newsletter out soon but in the meantime it is whale season, the waterfalls are spectacular and the wildlife are enjoying the nightlife so here are some valuable tips: apart from the sturdy hiking gear pack the binoculars and a good torch. These are mine: the torch is a veritable spotlight and I bought it at Bunnings. The binoculars actually provide a compass bearing and are exceptional quality but you dont have to be that fancy BUT the view from the cottages will justify a very good pair...

12.01.2022 Corona Virus. The world health situation is very real so we have taken some basic action to ensure Glenaire Park remains a healthy and safe environment for management, staff and visitors alike. All high touch points are thoroughly sanitised, including door handles , table tops, cupboards and benches. All crockery and cutlery is put through the dishwasher and spas are thoroughly flushed with hygienic spa cleaner as is our usual routine. It is business as usual at Glenaire... so please continue to enjoy our beautiful natural getaway. However, if you have travelled or been in contact with anyone who has flu like symptoms, or you are suffering any such symptoms, we simply ask you to seek reliable medical advice. If you do receive medical advice that encourages you to cancel please be assured that such advice would waive any of our cancellation fees and you should not hesitate to call us. 12.01.2022 COVID 19 UPDATE! By now, we can expect that all our guests are aware of the risk of further COVID-19 spread and, as such, the risk you are taking if enquiring, or confirming new reservations, particularly Non-Refundable and Partially Refundable bookings. The state of play has changed dramatically over the last few weeks but we remain optimistic that we will see you back in Glenaire before too long.... We continue to take advantage of our enforced hibernation with maintenance and admin tasks and wish you all a safe and speedy return to normal. The following link is to the Victorian Government Covid-19 : https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/victorian-public-coronavirus-di Stay Safe. Stay well! -Neil & Bo

11.01.2022 We trust that you all had a safe and happy Easter! The news reports suggest that the "Stay Home" manoeuvre is having a modicum of success but we did miss the usual buzz of smiling guests and we cant wait to see you all again. But we havent been idle. In fact we have been very busy building and painting, refreshing and thinking and planning.... We are getting a few ideas together for that day when we can return to our freedoms and invite you all back to the fresh air and greenery! Send us your details and we will compile a newsletter to announce some new developments at Glenaire. Stay Safe. Stay well! -Neil & Bo

11.01.2022 New Koala at Glenaire Cottages...

09.01.2022 We take this opportunity to wish all of you a safe and happy Easter but ask you not to be a Bunny. We have had several requests from friends, relatives and guests wanting to self isolate at Glenaire. While it may seem an ideal place to do so our simple answer is: "No. Stay Home!" We say this out of respect for the wonderful Doctors, Nurses and Staff at our local Otway Health & Aged Care Facility who are very concerned by the potential outcome presented by the Chief Medical Of...ficer. Should one infected person transmit Covid 19 to the local community there is a very real fear that that they may not be able to care for our much loved and valued older citizens, and there would be nowhere to send them and no way to transport them. To get an idea of the reality I urge you to indulge yourself for 38 minutes and listen to Jessica Davis report as it appeared on ABC RN last Sunday April 5 at 8.00am: People will die: Country hospital fears it wont cope with coronavirus. I cannot seem to paste a link here so you will need to search. Stay Safe. Stay well! -Neil & Bo

09.01.2022 Its all happening at the end of our driveway tonight. 4 walkers are lost in the cold and the dark near Rotten Point. The police helicopter is on its way. This could be a very expensive excursion. And a valuable lesson for anyone setting out on The Great Ocean Walk. We are very accessible. But we are also quite remote. #glenairecottages #greatoceanwalk #bushwalking #greatoceanroad

09.01.2022 It is a great thrill to find a delightful gift and card left in the cottage by departing guests. Especially when they are regulars. Thank you so much Sam & Michael and those delightful carolling canine companions of yours.

08.01.2022 The girls Hacienda complete with fireplace! 5 days and not a sign of a mobile device. They walked the nature trail several times, delighted in the koalas, displayed intelligent curiosity and marvelled at the Australian birds, the ocean and the forest. They left this morning to fly home to Cadiz tonight but will visit Aire River Crossing on their way. They are taking us to Morocco next year...

08.01.2022 Corona Virus Update. Certainly, the state of play has changed dramatically in the last few days and we are being encouraged to distance and isolate. As such we have accepted all cancellations and have waived all cancellation fees. For those that have not contacted us to cancel their booking we remain optimistic that you will be able to take advantage of our remote isolation and still enjoy some respite from the strict regimes we are all now subject to. Bo & I appreciate that ...we are in an ideal location to take advantage of our enforced hibernation and we are using this valuable time to attend to maintenance and administration issues. As the crisis escalates and remains uncertain, we offer all our friends our very best wishes and hope to see you all back here very soon. 08.01.2022 Today we placed Plimsoll the wooden Seagull next to the cheese. Watch how Mr & Mrs Magpie watch each others backs. He has the whiter back...they are a very obvious couple.

07.01.2022 A timely warning for enthusiastic nature lovers emerging from the urban lockdown. This photo appearing in our local community forum is taken on the Great Ocean Walk and reminds us to respect the natural environment and be aware of the inherent dangers. Our advice to all walkers is: wear suitable clothing, let others know of your intended route and walk at a leisurely pace. https://www.facebook.com/groups/117730445004997/permalink/2836070869837594/

07.01.2022 More Spring surprises...

07.01.2022 OK You identify this guy. On the track from cottages. I think he/she is a brushtail possum but I have only seen this one and one other here at Glenaire Park in over 40 years. The other one climbed up the fly screen door last year to listen to Neil on the piano...

04.01.2022 So very thrilled to receive this review by email this morning from Dr Kerry P: "Review of Lake Cottage, Glenaire Cottages, Glenaire 19th & 20th June 2020... We stayed in this very private delightful, light, warm and well appointed cottage last weekend for two nights, 19th and 20th June. It sits perched on the top of the world in the Otways, with beautiful views across the Aire Valley over to the southern ocean. The outdoor spa on the deck was a treat and the water hot and steamy. Looking up at the starry night sky was wonderful. Neil and Bo have created a rainforest walk on their property that is long enough to feel like a proper bushwalk, and short enough to do it twice in the weekend!!!! Towering gums and tree ferns in the gullies make this a very special place to stay. A walk down through the paddocks to the Great Ocean Road and beach beyond, as well as the GOW walking trail, is very do-able without even getting in the car!!! Neil and Bo are lovely hosts. Respectful of privacy and very aware of the CoVid requirements in these difficult times. Thank you to both of you for your responsive hospitality and sharing the beauty of your property." We have had some truly lovely guests since being able to welcome people back. We only ask that everyone respects the risks, the rules and takes care to acknowledge the advice of the Chief Medical Officer.
