11.01.2022 Important social volleyball update! Starting times for social Volleyball has been changed (again!), as requested by Runaway Bay indoor stadium the times have been changed to 8pm-9:30pm on Tuesdays instead of the original 7:30pm. Runaway Bay indoor stadium has recently hired some new staff and they weren’t confident about having all the equipment set up on time, so hopefully this time change will only be for a few weeks then it can be changed back to the original times.

06.01.2022 Beach Volleyball Rule Myths #1 - First Contact Rule Due to lots of discussions recently on the beach for example whether hands have to be together when playing the first touch, we asked Darren Grimsey - the referee delegate for the Australian Beach Volleyball National Tour and International (AVC) FIVB referee - to give us a quick official explanation. Check out the whole video or just read the summary here and let us know if you have any more rule questions or myths we should... discuss. Summary: 1) It is 100% legal to play with your hands apart when playing the first touch (receiving a serve or in general play) as long as it is one action and not a hand set, but a hard contact. 2) If you hand set the first touch, it is judged the same as any other set. So yes, you can technically receive any ball with a hand set, as long as it's clean. 3) Special rule: If you defend (not serve receive) a hard driven ball with a hand set, the ball contact can be extended momentarily, if it's a reaction play -> judgement call by the referee. https://www.youtube.com/watch
