25.01.2022 While were indulging in Christmas fare, our pets should stick to their usual diet. Christmas no-nos for our pets include; chocolate, fruit cake, grapes and raisins, fatty meats, sweets, nuts, onions and garlic, alcohol... and too much of anything! This isnt all that should be avoided, so if you want to give them a treat its safest to stick to those that are prepared specifically for pets.

25.01.2022 With temperatures forecast to be in the high 30s today its important to keep a close eye on pets. Please ensure they have shade, air circulation, and plenty of fresh cool water. Keep them indoors with you as much as possible and watch for any signs that theyre distressed. Dogs should be walked in the coolest times of the day. Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, drooling, restlessness, weakness, bright red/blue/purple tongue and gums, diarrhoea, vomiting, and confusion. Contact us immediately if you notice any of these symptoms.

19.01.2022 Dr Samindee had the pleasure of vaccinating this lot yesterday our pride litter - Xanthi, Gypsy & Sarabi as well as Cooper (Tabby who has found a home yay) These kittens when they came into the care of Guildford Veterinary Hospital all had cat flu and needed medical attention to help get them ready for their forever homes, if you are looking for a new furbaby please do not hesitate to call! 10.01.2022 Tomorrow is going to be a scorcher! - Please ensure all your pets have access to fresh, clean and cool drinking water throughout the day - A nice shady and cool spot to seek shelter ... If possible keep them inside with you in the air conditioning! If you are worried about your furbaby we do offer doggy day care for as little as $18 a day, your furbaby will be kept in and supervised in our air conditioned kennels, with lots of access to clean, cool drinking water, backyard play with one of our friendly staff and unlimited love! Fun Tip! If you freeze treats In a plastic container the night before a hot summers day, your pet will be able to have some fun enrichment as well as cool down at the time! A win, win situation! 05.01.2022 Something does need to be done! Each and every year not just as a clinic but pounds & rescues are completely run off their feet with either dumped kittens or cats. As a pet owner we need to be responsible, 1 undesexed cat can have multiple kittens in their lifetime then their babies and so for. It is a vicious cycle!... Please desex your cats, there are so many benefits to doing this not just for your cats health but for our environment! We are here to help and want to help! Taking Blood usually tends to be pretty straight forward, we usually have to clip the hair to make sure the skin is nice and clean before inserting a small needle to collect blood. We usually take blood from the jugular vein (neck) as we can quickly and efficiently get the amount of blood needed, youd be amazed by how well most of our patients behave! ... We also are lucky enough to have the option of in house blood testing, so in as little as 20 minutes we are able to find exactly what is going on with your pets vital organs and other information that we cant find out by a physical examination. We only need 2-3mls of blood and this can show us so much about your fur babies - bloods can show us how well your pets vital organs are functioning. It is always a great idea to have regular blood testing as our pets do age a lot quicker than what we do and even the smallest change in functionality in an organ can lead to bigger problems; that if we catch early can either stop or help the problems from occurring!
