17.01.2022 I love it when something pop's up and triggers a memory! This is one of my favourite videos from I trip I did with a couple of mates around the Kimberly Coast. This was "somewhere" near Beagle Bay north of Broome. When the big F truck doesn't quit fit on those "out of the way" tracks and roads... "Fold the mirrors in" was the call... Ouch... A few km's after this we ran in to the only car we saw for about 6 hours of remote driving. His name was Arthur and he was one o...f the local elders, and also ran the local power station for the community. We stopped, and he stopped (obviously nowhere to go!) and as I approached the vehicle I noticed that it didn't have any doors on it. I was wondering how often Arthur would have to blow out his car because of all the leaves he collected on his drive! What an amazing "commute" to work!! 15.01.2022 Right, I am back after a busy Christmas and New Year period, with Australia Day (I think we still call it that) long weekend coming up!! Some great past guests booked in, and some new ones!! A slight change with the new year to bookings... All of the bookings will be running through the Youcamp platform. Quicker, easier (for you and I) and I especially like the ability to view the upcoming availability for each site! 14.01.2022 I was on ABC Sunshine Coast this morning, just before Mayor Jamieson (unfortunately we didn't get to chat). He announced to Annie from the ABC that there has been some movement in council to embrace the land sharing concept... Thanks Brooke from #Youcamp for the link to the documents, and support! :) Youcamp have also been doing some work with the SCRC to drive some change here, and great news it is working.... Looks like infrastructure charges (as of the 7th of December, 2017) have been amended to the first five (5) being exempt from infrastructure charges by the Sunshine Coast Council. Now to get Council to adopt a change in the maximum adopted charge to a more reasonable level... like on means/impact testing. When you provide a place where people don't impact the community, only benefit it, surely it would help all round. They have the ability to charge zero up to $14,115 (for 3 sites) as per the "state government legislated charge" that are infrastructure charges... Let's hope they amend it to a reasonable level and we see people opening up beautiful, compliant, small places all over the hinterland! Go for it Conondalians!! 14.01.2022 Now the water is up, and running nice and clear the Eel Tailed Catfish are building nests. The mumma fish lays her eggs in the middle of the nest and the poppa fish spends his time making it look nice and keeping predators away until the juveniles hatch. Teamwork all around!! And this makes spotting fish in the creek very easy - The poppa fish is never far away from the nest!! 09.01.2022 After a lovely Christmas break where I ate way too much and drank a bit too much as well I am looking forward to meeting the new guests checking in over the next few weeks. Just a reminder if you are travelling from the south to go via Maleny, not via Woodford as the Postmans Track (the top of Aherns Road) is not suitable for caravans/campers... Very narrow and steep.

02.01.2022 Here’s hoping that CPC gets cut up and stays in Australia for the future generations... however if I was a betting man, for over $900m, it will go to offshore investment. 5.5 million acres is far too much for our money hungry government to ignore. They will say it’s good for our economy... If you agree that it is good, please share with your thoughts. If it is bad, please share with your thoughts. Let’s truly see how the debate plays out, versus a group of people in parliament that have the say on what happens to large areas of our country.
