23.01.2022 Be still. Even a few minutes of stillness can make a difference. When we choose to drop out of busyness and into stillness our whole being benefits. I took a couple minutes to be still while I waited for the kettle to boil. This is what I focused on. I’m ready for the next thing now .

21.01.2022 Write your way to wellness...

19.01.2022 Good to be reminded of this.

17.01.2022 There seems to be a calendar on my page that invites people to input their own appointment! Not sure how that happened so I just need to say that if you would like an appointment you should contact me so we can arrange it - don't put it into the calendar :).

17.01.2022 Excellent article about how some schools are working to shift the focus from awards and rewards to bettering yourself.

16.01.2022 In a couple of days the first Grieving Your Way writing workshop will take place for 2019. Did you know that writing is a very powerful therapeutic way of working through hard stuff? It is. And writing can change your brain! There'll be another on May 16th and probably another later in the year. I'm focusing more on these writing workshops this year because I know, personally, how life-changing they can be, and because many who have attended one have told me the same thing. If you haven't yet tried one you will have opportunities coming up to do so. I look forward to seeing you at one this year :).

13.01.2022 The Hunter Writers Centre Grieve Project is open for submissions, either narrative or poetry about your experience with grief. You can read more about it at: https://hunterwriterscentre.org/grieve-project/

12.01.2022 I took some time today to go on a short walk/ hike with a friend. I’ve been very busy and a bit overwhelmed. Sometimes we need to step outside expectations and what we believe has to be done and, instead, choose restoration and refreshment. Under a brilliant almost spring blue sky I walked with a friend for a couple of hours. We walked through bush and by the sea. We stripped off our coats as the sun that sprinkled diamonds on the sea warmed us even while a slight ocean breeze tried to cool us. We chatted. We were silent. I’m pleasantly tired now after an almost sleepless night. My brain, and the rest of me, is content and ready to do some writing . You might not be able to go for a walk but perhaps there’s a spot where you can sit and enjoy the beauty of this world we are blessed to live in.

10.01.2022 Many parents want to know how to help their children who are suffering from anxiety. This free webinar might be helpful. Go to www.happyfamilies.com.au to find out more.

10.01.2022 This is certainly as relevant today as it was when I first posted it!

09.01.2022 This is a great article and very easy to read :). I think there are possibly more than 6 benefits of happiness but the research is still very young so I'm sure we will be hearing of more as the years go by.

07.01.2022 Our Grieving Your Way Focused Journalling workshop is full for this month. I am excited to be working with the participants who have registered and to see how t...hey change and grow even during those few hours we will have together. Even more exciting is that they will take the things that happen during the workshop with them into their everyday life - and they will see a difference. If you would like to see change in your life you might consider the September workshop. Details will be available in a couple of months time. Or you can contact me through the contact page on my website: www.thehealingplace.com.au See more

06.01.2022 What happens to us as children impacts our lives as adults too... this article explains how in an easy to understand way.

06.01.2022 Recently I attended a Resilient Kids conference. It was good to have such a variety of speakers there all on the one day to talk about the challenges and difficulties our young people are faced with in the world today. But, they also talked about hope and about how to support young people so they are resilient and don't feel pressured to be caught up in what is going on around them. Below are some of the books we now have at school, but there are lots of resources out there to help parents and others who work with adolescents and younger children, books as well as other resources. I've also posted a photo of some other books that might be helpful.

05.01.2022 Each of us has our own grief journey. Writing is a powerful way of helping us find our way through what sometimes seems a little like the fire swamp in the movie Princess Bride. Join me on May 16th and see how writing can help you move forward on your journey.

02.01.2022 The power of writing is underestimated. I wasn’t encouraged to write when I was young, in fact criticism ( rarely constructive) was common. However, I’ve persevered and writing has played a huge part in helping me develop resilience, make sense of seemingly impossible situations and so much more. I’d love to see us encouraging our children from when they can first hold a pen to write, write and keep writing .

01.01.2022 There’s so much evidence now about the benefits of getting out in nature. Even a short walk can boost your mood.
