25.01.2022 Dis is my happy face! ________________

25.01.2022 The best gift you can give a dog is a lifetime full of adventures.

25.01.2022 "There is never enough time to do everything. But there is always time to do what's most important." Today I decided to come home early and throw my to do list out the window just so I could walk my dogs (& cat) before the sunset. What a peaceful and satisfying decision that was.

25.01.2022 SHOW US YOUR SNUGGLE PHOTOS We have the heater going and multiple dog beds and couches, but Hugo prefers this Cold nights are made for snuggling

21.01.2022 HELPING BUSHFIRE REFUGEES We returned home yesterday morning and found this spectacular wedge-tailed eagle on our fence next to the house. After talking to a wildlife carer it seems this fella has escaped from the bushfire zone and was starving. We were able to help him back on his feet by giving him a much needed feed. This is him enjoying some raw meat in our front yard. Today he is still hanging around close to the house, we will continue to keep an eye on him and hop...efully when he is strong enough he can find a new home. Our local wildlife has been severly affected by these fires, it has left many of them homeless and hungry. We can all do our bit to help our wildlife recover after a bushfire. Please see the link below to learn how. * please excuse the cat meowing in the background, she did not approve of being shut in the lounge room while I filmed this "If you live near a bushfire zone or wildlife corridor, turning your property into a sanctuary for wildlife refugees for a few weeks after the fire can make a lifesaving difference. If you're on the edge of a firezone, you can help by providing water and safe places to shelter for animals passing through your property. If you're a little further from the bushfire zone, you can help by putting food out for birds: but it's vital that you do your research first on what native birds should be eating or you could be doing more harm than good (hint: never bread). You'll also need to make sure you clean feeding stations daily to avoid the spread of disease. Birdlife has some great advice on feeding birds after a bushfire." https://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/ https://birdlife.org.au/media/after-the-fire/

19.01.2022 SENIOR DOGS - Keep 'em active This is Seven, our 11 year old border collie x. Even though she is in her golden years she is still very fit and agile. We keep Seven active with regular waking, hiking adventures, running, tricks and enrichment games. We also give her a daily supplement (antinol) to help keep her joints healthy. We noticed last year that Seven was starting to slow down with the normal aging process so we put her on a trial of antinol. I wasn't expecting a big ch...ange, we just wanted to give her joints and mobility some help. Surprisingly she is a much brighter and happier dog on antinol and has since gained more endurance while out on walks! Why it's important Regular exercise helps to maintain good muscle strength, flexibility and balance, which in turn helps to reduce muscle stiffness and joint discomfort. Keeping your dog active no matter how old they are is the best way to keep them physically, mentally and emotionally healthy. https://www.whole-dog-journal.com//exercise-your-senior-d/

19.01.2022 Things are pretty quiet with pet sitting at the moment, so I get to enjoy a nice rainy morning coffee in bed with my favs.

19.01.2022 PET HEALTH & SAFETY With the air quality being so poor lately it is making it rather difficult for me to safely do all my dog walks. My first priority is pet health and wellness. I will continue to offer my regular walking and pet sitting service at this time but I am ensuring that dogs get rest breaks while out on walks and that pets are not being overly exerted or exposed to smoke for extended periods of time. Some visits or walks may be shortened according to each pets in...dividual circumstances, health and age. Some days I will cancel walks if I feel it is too smokey to be outside exercising. If you have any other questions or concerns or if there are any days that you'd like to cancel or swap please let me know. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding at this time. Kindest Regards, Tegan https://www.madpaws.com.au/blog/bushfire-smoke/

18.01.2022 Some of the cool kids I've been hanging with lately. This good looking bunch are some of our regular weekly walkers. I love the many adventures we share together.

16.01.2022 Escape and breath the air of new places.

16.01.2022 What a perfect day we've had and covered a distance of 25km all up! We got to run in the rain, splash in the puddles, admire the rainbow then bask in the afternoon sunshine. With the wet weather that's been hanging around lately most dogs have been indoors for the last few days and therefore had energy to burn. So today we did intermittent jogging for our fit and athletic clients.... Here are some happy faces from todays adventures.

15.01.2022 Your dog could be featured as January in the bushfire fundraising calendar. We had a photo session last year with Puppy Tales Photography, we got some truly beautiful photos from our shoot.

13.01.2022 Looks like I succeeded in teaching Balter to love water, but now I'm not so sure that was a good idea. I've created a mud monster.

13.01.2022 These guys loved the water so much today I got dragged in for a dip, then they didn't want to leave when it was time to head home.

13.01.2022 GOING AGAINST THE GRAIN Grain free is the big money making term that took the pet food industry by storm and oh damn, I got fooled big time! I use to think that... grain free was the bees knees when it first came out. In my mind grain free meant that the food was somehow healthier for my dogs. We were all sold on the fact that grains are bad for dogs, but little did we know that a high starch diet is no better. Say what? Yup, grain free food isn't actually any better than regular dog food because it is also laden with carbohydrates - peas, potato, tapioca etc. Since pet food companies aren't required by law to disclose the carb content of their food it is important that you know how many carbs/sugars you're actually feeding. Some simple maths can help you figure out which bag of food gives you better bang for your buck and less carbs. GRAIN FREE DOES NOT = CARB FREE Find the guaranteed analysis panel on your bag of dog food. Add the protein + fat + moisture + ash % together. Once you have calculated the total, subtract that number from 100 = the carbohydrate content. *If ash content is not stated it's usually around 8%. Eg. Allpaws chicken & turkey Protein 24% + Fat 14% + Moisture 10% + Ash 10% = 58% 100 - 58 = 42% carbohydrates This simple maths trick will help you identify what you're actually paying for, ideally you want a bag that contains the least amount of carbs.

07.01.2022 ______________________________________ This is Beans experiencing something new and unfamiliar. She is building confidence and learning that this new object is not so scary after all. ... Definition of ordinary ~ of no special quality or interest; commonplace; unexceptional. Dogs are inquisitive creatures by nature, it's important that we allow them plenty of opportunities to learn new things from the beautiful world that surrounds us. One of the reasons why I will often vary my dog walking locations is so my canine companions get to experience new things that will help build confidence and actively engage them. Every new location or path has its own new sights, sounds, objects and smells, this variety is what makes the adventure so much more exciting and stimulating for you and the dog.

05.01.2022 BUSINESS NAME CHANGE I have decided to change our name to "Healthy Little Hound". This new name speaks truth to the vision I have for dogs and dog health. It embraces all that I love and all that I want to share with others. So don't be surprised when you see it pop up in the future. It will take some time for me to complete all the changes to our logo, paperwork and contracts so it is a work in progress at the moment. To all my pet sitting clients please don't fret! Althou...gh dog walking will be my main focus I will be keeping you all on board. As my schedule allows I will still offer a pet sitting service for when you go away. Dog walking is keeping me very busy at the moment, but I'll try my best to fit everyone in. I will not be taking on any new pet sitting clients, so I can prioritise and care for the wonderful people and pets that have supported my business from the beginning. If I cannot fit you in for the dates you need, we have many other wonderful local pet sitters that are able to assist with pet care and I will happily pass on their details to you as needed. At this stage I only have a few slots left for dog walking, the rest of the week is full. If you are wanting to book in for 2021 please let me know so I can save you a spot. Thanks for all your support With love Tegan
