22.01.2022 City officers last week wrote to residents in Helensvale, and the Helensvale State High School, regarding the replacement of the pedestrian bridge that links Ru...gby Lane with Edgeworth Place. They have this morning confirmed a change to the proposed closure, to be as follows:- Following recent discussions with yourself and the local school. We are revising our full footpath closure date to coincide with the completion of Term 4. Local residents may notice minor works in the coming weeks, however the footpath will remain open until the full footpath closure starting 7am 10th December. The pedestrian bridge has reached its end of life, and is to be replaced with a compressed concrete product. The contractor will endeavour to compress the works program, but the impact on availability of the walkway for term 1 in 2021 will not be clear until late January. #Helensvale #PedestrianAccess #Works

16.01.2022 IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM QTAC: Overnight QTAC conducted internal testing of our ATAR processes ahead of the statewide release on Saturday 19 December. Regretfully..., testing of the release information rolled out into our live production space which issued ATAR notifications to 24 000 Queensland Year 12 students. As there is no data currently in the system, students may have received a notification that they are ATAR ineligible. QTAC CEO Dr John Griffiths says QTAC acknowledges this technical error and deeply apologises to our Year 12 cohort, this has no doubt caused additional anxiety during what has already been a trying year for our school community. Dr Griffiths added, We receive the Year 12 result file from the QCAA on Monday, which is when the actual calculation of the Queensland ATAR begins, we are on track for official release on Saturday 19 December Below is the timeline of events for the next seven days. QTAC ATAR Release Monday 14 December QTAC receives the Year 12 result file from QCAA Tuesday 15 December QTAC performs inter-subject scaling process Wednesday 16 December QTAC checks and validates data Thursday 17 December QTAC calculates the ATAR Friday 18 December QTAC loads the ATAR into the Portal Saturday 19 December ATAR Release An email communicating the above will be sent to those directly affected. https://www.qtac.edu.au//up/2020/12/ATAR-Testing-Error.pdf

10.01.2022 This week’s PB4L focuses on our school value of Resilience. Students are being asked to self reflect on their behaviour and habits. Some of the many benefits are student ability to improve behaviour, relationships, and conflict resolution. Students become more confident, act with integrity, embed appropriate behaviour, and are aware of the need for change. As a parent/caregiver, you can encourage your child to self-reflect when discussing actions and behaviour. This often leads to open communication and will strengthen relationships. Remember that reflection of positive actions reinforces positive behaviour and entrenches resilience and integrity.
