08.01.2022 EXPRESSION OF INTERESTS NOW OPEN FOR 2021 for Mature aged/Retired couples travelling Australia with their own accommodation. We are a family owned and operated Roadhouse and Cattle Station on the Savannah Way in the Gulf of Carpentaria, outback Queensland. Located approx 50km from the NT Border and 180km from Burketown. We run the roadhouse, caravan park & campgrounds, cabin accommodation & cattle station all year round but are looking for help in our busy tourist season f...rom APRIL to SEPTEMBER 2021. This is not a paid position, but a unique working holiday opportunity for multiple travelers that may like to park up for a fortnight, a month (or longer!) as part of their journey through the outback and lend a hand around the place. In exchange for your time we can offer all meals inclusive, free power/water/camping, a family friendly social environment and opportunities to explore the region camping/fishing/swimming etc. Preferred background in (but not essential) building, plumbing, gardening, painting, cooking, cleaning, hospitality, child care/education.... (but honestly a hairdresser would be handy up here sometimes to!) Roles are flexible and we will arrange these to be suitable for both us and the successful individuals. We are really just looking for honest, active people who would like to help out our family in the busy time of the year and enjoy experiencing the unique lifestyle that the Hell's Gate area has to offer. Next year will bring us frequent bus loads of tourists, three Car Rally fundraisers, playgroups/school days and other events as well as the frequent flow of traffic between NT and Qld. 03.01.2022 We are officially in Queensland! The Savannah Way up to this point has been pretty good, dusty as expected with corrugations in some patches and bowling green s...mooth in others! Huge patch of bull dust right before the border crossing, the van disappeared momentarily in a cloud of dust. We spent the night in Hells Gate Roadhouse campgrounds. It was pretty nice to put our feet on some grass, even if short lived! The only road kill we saw was old car bodies. . . #queensland #hellsgate #tourismqueensland @ Hell's Gate Roadhouse
