25.01.2022 On a level of 1-3 which are you and which are your pupper?

25.01.2022 Throwback Thursday: Ruby The Rottie! Ruby came to us as a foster to adopt. She has just had 9 puppies (I think) and has medical issues herself to get over. She was wary at first but quickly made it known she was home. ... She is talkative, she shows off to visitors, she has claimed the couch, she hangs out with me when I work from home and I have never seen a dog so food driven! She’s intelligent and has picked up training so quickly but boy does she tell us when she’s done being a ‘show pony’! And she loves her pats, she would lie there all day if you patted her. She’s a joy and we absolutely love her. - Tagen (Ruby's FurMum)

23.01.2022 Hi everyone my name is Max I am a GSD x young teenager and yes I know I am handsome . Im a pretty special kid and looking for a foster to potentially adopt home if I can find one.... I know all of my basic obedience and other than a little excitement initially I walk pretty well on my lead. Ive had some doggie training so Im a pretty good boy to be honest. I love everyone of all ages and will happily show them how much I care with lots of kisses. I am still a bit of a pup though and dont know my size sometimes so I forget not to be too excited to see little ones. Im not huge dont get me wrong, only about 26-28 kgs, and with a little more training to not jump up I would nearly be your perfect dog . I love all doggos of all sizes. I have always gone to dog parks previously to play with my mates and currently go to puppy school twice a week. So I really am a social butterfly and think I would really love a play friend at home with me as well. I used to have a fur sister at home and I adored her with all my heart so if I could have another girl to be my princess and snuggle bunny I would be so happy. I do have a high prey drive, so please no cats. I have met them and been tested and there is absolutely no chance I can get along with them. If you are interested in fostering me, please fill out a foster application (just make sure you get a big green tick to say its submitted) or pm the page for more information . https://www.happyfureverafter.com.au/dogfosterapp

20.01.2022 When Freyja came in we could easily see and smell she had a very large hot spot under her neck. She was very smelly and dirty and had some large matts. She had her appointment at the vets all booked yesterday afternoon so she could have her pamper session in the morning that her carer had arranged .During her pamper session it was discovered she has a further injury that resembled a large puncture wound. After a consult with our vets yesterday to give her a health check, receive treatment for her hot spot and evaluate the wound, Freyja is back at the vets today to have the wound debrided, cleaned up and stitched. She will feel like a brand new girl soon between her carer spoiling her and everything healing

20.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning. We will remember them

19.01.2022 Meet Koda! Koda is a 6 year old black Labrador looking for his happy furever after. He is a special boy who is looking for a special home via foster to adopt. Koda is a very loved pooch however circumstances have changed and he is not coping with the changes. He is used to going everywhere with his family, including camping, but is now spending a lot of time alone.... He is super dog friendly and attends both the dog park and doggy day care regularly. He hasnt however had many interactions with children so would be best homed with older children aged 12+. The main reason for this is Koda is very noise sensitive and can be easily startled by big noises, including storms. Kodas wishlist for a new home include: - A calm and balanced doggy brother or sister - People who are home with him more often than not - Someone who understands he can be sensitive to noise and is willing to work with HFAAR with some training to help him along his journey to becoming brave - 6ft fencing to keep him safe - Allowed to be an inside dog to be with his family If you would like to foster Koda (preferably with a possibility of adopting) please fill out a foster application via the below link. I have been asked to remind you that you need to get a big green tick when you submit it otherwise it may not have gone through. https://www.happyfureverafter.com.au/dogfosterapp Foster carers need to be in Brisbane or surrounding areas for accessibility to the rescues vets and trainers.

18.01.2022 Name: Shelby Breed: GSD Age: 4.5 yrs old Sex: Female Location: German Shepherd ... Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: No Child Friendly: Yes Fencing: 6ft > Well hello there.....I’m Shelby & I’m looking for my furever home. I’m ready and excited to meet my perfect family . I just love meeting people...all people especially kids...I just love kids but I’m not keen on other dogs & I’m just don’t know about cats although during walks I just ignore them. I’m great with native birds, I’m happy just to watch them. I’m 4 years old, super fit & love playing with everyone. If you have a ball in your hand then I’m super responsive and your new best friend . Love balls & toys of all types, but I won’t touch anything that is not mine. My foster mum says I’m very obedient & well behaved. I do listen to her a lot & I know what is good & what’s not. I’m learning every day during my walks. I love to learn & experience new smells & places. Sometimes I get too eager if I’m walking somewhere new and I can pull on my lead a bit but when I get corrected I listen so next time I will be better. I’m very intelligent & very patient. I know all my basic commands...sit, come, stay, down etc. I don’t dig holes, that would dirty my paws so yuck no! I’m good with car rides....are we going to the beach? Can we? Can I go where you’re going? I sometimes bark at dogs when they walk past my foster home but I’m not that much of a barker. I bark to alert but I don’t bark at shadows...I’m not a scaredy-cat. When I’m left alone I need to be left inside where I’m happy to just roll up & sleep for a few hours. I like to be inside, sleep inside & be close to my family but I’m also ok when I’m outside alone while your home for short periods. I’d really love to find a home where someone is home with me most of the time, I’m happiest being with you. If you do work casual or part time then that’s ok as long as you leave me inside with my snuggly bed where I’ll just snooze away until your home. I cannot be left outside when your not home as I get very anxious about where you may be and come looking for you, but inside with my creature comforts and the smell of my humans and I’m as calm as calm can be. I’m just a happy energetic girl who is looking for that special family to be a part of where I will offer you a special kind of love and devotion in return....is that you? 16.01.2022 It's that time of year again where snakes are becoming more and more active in the neighborhood. Please ensure your pets are safe! Animal Emergency Service treats thousands of cases of dogs who have been bitten by snakes in Australia, each year. Although there are subtle differences between the symptoms and signs depending on the breed of snake, the main signs of a dog snake bite include: -Collapse followed by apparent recovery ... -Lethargy -Muscle tremors, shaking and reduced eye blinking -Dilated pupils -Sudden onset of weakness/wobbliness (ataxia) -Complete paralysis -Inability to control bladder and bowels -Irregular bleeding from the nose, bite site, mouth -Discoloured, dark urine (often bloody) What do I do if my dog is bitten by a snake? Top first aid tips for snake bites on dogs: -Do not panic, and keep your dog calm -Seek veterinary assistance immediately -Phone your local vet and let them know you are on your way (in case they do not stock snake anti-venom they will be able to point you towards a vet that does) -If it is at all possible, apply a firm bandage above, below, and over the site of the bite (if you know where your dog has been bitten). This assists in stopping the venom from spreading to the heart -If the bite wound is on the face or neck, remove your dog's collar as the area may swell -Attempt to reduce your dog's movement and activity What not to do if your dog is bitten by a snake: Snakes only bite when they feel threatened, so don't attempt to pick up, capture, or kill the snake. If you can identify the breed of snake, make sure to tell your vet, as this will allow them to administer life-saving anti-venom. Try not to over-excite your dog, as this can worsen the effects of the venom due to the adrenaline running through the body. Do not attempt to suck the venom out of the dog's bite wound - if you have an open wound in your mouth and the venom enters your bloodstream, this could be lethal. Don't apply a tourniquet, as this stops the supply of fresh blood to the limb causing major health problems (which could include causing the limb to die). 13.01.2022 Our minds are blown that beautiful Stella has not yet found a foster or foster to adopt home She has managed to find very temporary care in order to save her life, for which we are very grateful, however she cannot stay much longer so needs someone to help now! She is a bright, bubbly, beautiful girl who has so much love and companionship to give. As you can see in the video her wonderful temporary carers have been working on some basic obedience with her and she loves t...o play! In the comments is another video which will show her around livestock and her care free attitude towards them and around her temporary carers dogs. Stella is non reactive to dogs as long as they aren’t in her personal space bubble If you have the right home for Stella and a whole lot of love to give her please pm the page for a foster application ASAP as this girl needs somewhere urgently Located in Brisbane region Link to Stellas profile - https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-d/search-now//24865

13.01.2022 Our beautiful Nyx is loving her new foster home and obviously very much her new teddies (what she leaves left of them ). Nyx has severe Pannus which is an immune issue that is genetic in dogs, particularly GSD’s. Lucky for Nyx she has had the best care before coming to us and seen multiple Ophthalmologists and been receiving treatment which we will continue under our own vets. Pannus can make their eyes look sore and come up in photos looking particularly bad. If there is... one positive to Pannus it’s that other than blindness it is not painful, especially with the right eye drops to keep them comfortable. To say Nyx has won her carers heart after only two days is an understatement. This girl is as beautiful in personality as she is in looks

09.01.2022 1 yr and 1 month ago HFAAR was asked by Rspca to give a little old man a second chance at life. He had anaemia from a small bleed somewhere, a skinny mini, blind, grumpy old man with other animals but boy did he love his tennis ball. Blind or not, mouth big enough or not, he loved his tennis ball. We worked on what may be the cause of his anaemia and off he went to his carer of the last 12 mths. There he was spoilt, had a bed for each room, home cooked meals and all the j...umpers etc a little man could want. Wills developed IBD which was although very messy, cared for with medications and his carers love and he would get better again. Wills started having an IBD flare up yesterday that worsened overnight. After arriving at our vets and having a check over, our amazing Uncle Shane at Mitchelton Vets called and said he wanted to check Wills blood and do a renal check. The devastating news came that Wills was indeed in renal failure and that mixed with his IBD and trying to juggle both conditions, where one required food and medications that would keep setting off the other was deemed to unfair and cruel to our little man who was now 15 yrs old, so today our baby boy grew his wings as he kissed us goodbye and we kissed his little head and told him just how much we loved him, that hed fought the good fight and would now run free over the rainbow bridge to play and chase his ball as much as he wanted to. You will forever be in our hearts and forever loved little man

05.01.2022 How to read a dog's body language; Knowing how to read a dog's body language may one day save a life. Studying the diagrams and explanations below will help to identify the signs of a relaxed, anxious or aggressive dog. 05.01.2022 Name: Sasha Breed: GSD Age: 11 years old Sex: Female Location: Petrie QLD ... Cat Friendly: No Dog Friendly: No Child Friendly: Yes all ages Sasha is a sweet and cheeky home body. What is her ideal day you may ask: * Waking to a cuddle - belly scratches a must. * A leisurely stroll, perhaps even a bit of a trot before returning home. * Having breakfast together. * A long morning nap. * More belly scratches. * Games in the garden. * Hanging with the family (she doesn’t judge you on what movies or TV programs you like to watch). * Afternoon/early evening stroll and let’s not forget a yummy dinner. * Sleeping on her comfy bed dreaming of what is in store for both herself and her family the next day. Sasha enjoys being in the garden sniffing and playing. She isn’t very interested in chew toys loves games that keeps her mentally active, especially where food is involved - nom nom nom . Sasha would suit someone that is home full time, as she loves hanging out with her people and if you have children of any age she will give them all her love. She’s so gentle with all children with babies being a bit of a fav, but children who can be gentle back are appreciated . She is very much a lady of leisure (well let’s face it at her age she deserves to be treated like a queen) and much prefers that if you go out for work or anywhere else you can’t take her, to stay on her nice comfy bed inside the house. She will stay outside if she must, but be prepared for a talking to about how cruel you are to have taken her away from her much loved creature comforts when you get home. Outside life is like camping - why rough it when you don’t have to . You may see her age and think this girl would have little energy, but you’d be wrong. She enjoys getting out and about and being part of the family people watching, odd barks at passing dogs (imagine the Grandma that gives the local kids a bit of sass but is inwardly giggling to herself). Although not a socialite when out on walks (she likes to watch people, not necessary meet them - we are a queen after all and a degree of aloofness is required is it not), she does love to meet your friends at home. Sasha doesn’t like to be talked about, unless it’s about her winning smile and boisterous playing. She can be sensitive and get hurt if she thinks she is being made fun of. She is a smart cookie and picks up on vibe around her very easily. Please don’t be put off by her age. She has so much to still give to a family and endless amounts of love. If you have any questions or are interested in applying for Sasha, please follow the link below and hit the enquire button for an Adoption Application https://www.savour-life.com.au/adopt-a-d/search-now//29794

02.01.2022 It's FRIYAY hooman's, that means you get to spend the entire weekend with me!

02.01.2022 Hi everyone my name is Wills and I am a very special boy. You will notice that Im a wee bit smaller than my other foster brothers and sisters, but you see Ive been in care now for a year. I came into HFAAR as part of their Palliative Care Program. You may have noticed, they have a big soft spot for us oldies . So I have been living in luxury the last 12 months and totally spoilt and loved by my carer, however she is now moving and she cant take me with her, so I need ...to find a new carer who will love me and care for me for however long I have left (Im pretty fit so dont count me out quite yet lol). Im a 15 yr old Italian Greyhound x foxy who has several loves: my food, my people and my beds - yes beds - I come with several as I love a bed wherever I go and well my foster mum spoils me . Sleeping is my favourite pastime and Ill happily move my bed around for you to find the warmest sunny spots and love snuggling under my blankets showing only my little nose. Anyway, so I am partially blind, maybe a little deaf and have irritable bowl syndrome and can be a grumpy old man with other furries but hey I wouldnt be an old man if I wasnt right . Im all noise but shhh dont tell them that. The best foster home for me to live out my days would preferably be with someone who is retired or works from home. If you have another animal, I would prefer it to be a cat that I can grumble at, but be happy knowing they will do their thing and let me do mine. If I did have another dog to live with, I would prefer it be an older dog like me, not a in your face kind of dog and happy to sleep in their bed and let me sleep in mine. If you have children please I would prefer older children who can understand I am lacking with hearing and seeing so I get a fright if snuck up on. I love all people, but little ones except maybe on Grandma/Grandpa visits where they are supervised will be too much for this old man. I still have a lot of life and love to give, love my walks and playing with my ball, so if you think you would love to have me join your home, please pm the page as they would love to hear from you

01.01.2022 Introducing...... Throwback Thursdays! We will be showcasing some of our dogs that have been adopted and getting pictures, stories or responses from their new furever owners!! "This is Tyler When he first came to meet me he leaned against me and I knew immediately that we were meant to be ... a family. Tyler was adopted at 8 months old and is now a happy 3 year old. Since he became my Furbaby he has learnt to swim like a fish, mountain track like a goat, make himself comfortable on any house cushion and spoil me rotten with kisses. He is a great guard dog and a gives great cuddles! I recommend adopting a Furbaby from Furever After Animal Rescue. It will change your life for the better." - Jessica B
