18.01.2022 Three Day Sickness is still circulating... Our District Vets are still seeing cases of Bovine Ephemeral Fever (Three Day Sickness) in cattle across the district.... It has popped up on properties all of a sudden who didn’t have it when the initial wave went through a few months ago. We are also seeing it cause really severe illness, respiratory distress and deaths in some cases. As a result, early and aggressive symptomatic treatment is recommended for any animal, especially those that go down. An anti-inflammatory injection will relieve fever and ease pain, and a 4 in 1 Flowpack will correct metabolic issues associated with the disease. You can get more information about medication and treatment from your private veterinary clinic. Good nursing care such as providing food, water and fly control is also really important for down animals.
