15.01.2022 Our December HOM, Lexi, is a very special girl. She arrived at our sanctuary in June 2017 malnourished and terrified, with a visible scar on her neck. We try not to dwell on how she may have sustained it. She has been our most challenging horse to-date, but also our most rewarding. She is a poster girl for how a horse written-off by many as a dangerous lost cause can be rehabilitated, with patience, skill and love, into a well-mannered, sweet-natured mare now totally happy an...d relaxed in our paddock. Lexi will spend the rest of her days with us, because we went to great lengths to gain her trust and we will not betray it at any cost. We don’t usually feature a hooman in our HOM photo, but Pat, pictured, is also very special to us. Pat is our volunteer maintenance person. He works tirelessly to help maintain the sanctuary and, whilst he helps keep all our horses safe, he does it for Lexi. They met when she first arrived and have developed a close bond. They appear to talk a language only they understand.
