23.01.2022 It was just before bedtime and all the farm animals gathered for story time, thanks Rudi, Inez and family for the inspirations. Cheers

22.01.2022 The new neighbours, so cute!

20.01.2022 Today's Houghton Hills story. Pascal got an early Christmas gift this week, 2 new cria alpacas moved in next door to help keep the foxes away. Pascal has been the sole alpaca on the farm since he lost his soul mate, Calais, last year, and Plum the sheep, the same, since Lettuce, his mate, passed away. They have always been great mates, but as you can see Pascal is in full protective/welcoming mode for the new 'frightened', cria, names unknown. They are approx 6 months old, the same age 11 years ago when Pascal and Calais moved from Barossa Valley Alpacas to Houghton Hills. A happy day for everyone today, as we thought we almost lost our (nameless) chickens Sat to foxes. Everyone feeling safe and happy today, 5 days to Xmas, including Charlie our dog. Now we just need Santa to bring some water for the fish.

17.01.2022 Another day, another tank being cleaned out, sealed and repotted at Houghton Hills as we prepare to reopen the farm soon. Thanks for your help today good people.

17.01.2022 Another Houghton Hills moment/memory...

12.01.2022 Done and dusted. Legendary Jacob dropped 5 trees exactly on the stumps of the previous tree making it easy to cut up for firewood. Unusually they all died from a disease attacking cypress trees in the hills. The last tree was the trickiest as it was sloped the opposite way so we used a rope to guide it...

09.01.2022 Newsflash: The farm is now closed for the next 6 days and possibly a further 8 days. We will advise next week as per instructions. Encouraging everyone to stay put as much as possible to stop this cluster ASAP.

08.01.2022 Nothing like a fire to distract us from pandemics...Looking back it was less than 4 months ago all we could think about was bushfires. How things have changed when the federal government reluctantly managed to find 20 million to hire more bombers to help the state's fire services in a crisis the chiefs advised was coming. 2 billion later, many lives, homes businesses lost they got it put...seems like pennies now and maybe some lessons learnt? #controlledburn #ansteyhill #houghtonhills

07.01.2022 Another day, another special for our customers! Lloyd's here with an update on pricing! (A good update ;) )

05.01.2022 Another tank done and dusted/ aquascaped Sept 2020.

05.01.2022 Today's HH story...

05.01.2022 What a day, #thesouthseason, 'uncut'. Also thank you our very own Jo, Geoff, Cynthia for entertaing us between breaks and El Diablo wood oven pizza's for feeding us and 'you', the good people for your awesome support!!! #portadelaidefoodgardening #thepeoplesmarketsa #ElDiablo P.s. uncut live version as we were busy serving. Camera angle improves after the first song and as said, the rest is uncut buskers having fun...video is about 45 mins. The boys played for 3 hours, wow. Thanks everyone.

04.01.2022 Another catch and release Houghton Hills moment as we relocate some prize fish. A mum and her baby rescued just now...and a new freedom...

02.01.2022 Part 4, done and dusted, what a storm!

02.01.2022 Thanks to Kym and Jenny from#portadelaidefoodgardening I managed to plant, after today's awesome rain, a bunch of greens and winter veg. And got some excercise. Fyi, they brought in a record amount of seedlings yesterday so start growing food everywhere and excercise as you grow! I call it yoga gardening. Cheers Good People. P.s. sorry chickens, the garden beds are now fenced so you will have to play elsewhere.

01.01.2022 OMG #compost #dutchcoffeelab

01.01.2022 Spike came to our door to visit and take shelter last week. So cool as we haven't seen him/her for a few years...hoping our koala(s) will visit too as sadly their favourite tree died, car accidents... and then no more visits now for many months. Globally this reminds us of important of unique habitat for all animals... #spikeyechidna #habitat

01.01.2022 After some great rains this is how the farm looks 1 May 2020. What a change from a week ago after we had our biggest April rains in 20 years
