25.01.2022 Almond Butter, very big fan. Not only does it taste great but it is high in calcium, zinc, manganese, potassium, Iron, selenium, magnesium, fibre and good fats, or is it?? That depends on the brand that you buy. Here is an example of two products that have a huge variance in ingredients and quality. How did I find this out? Well my husband read the name of the product and thought that looked good and it was a great price. Fail! He didn't read the ingredients list! Bega ...Almond Spread has 23% almonds, added vegetable oil, milk solids, maltodextrin, sugar, salt and emulsifier (322). Mayver's Almond Butter has 99.7% roasted almonds and sea salt. Which one would you buy? Don't be fooled by clever marketing and deceptive labels.

25.01.2022 Coffee, mmmm. How many do you have a day and have you ever given thought to the quality of the beans? When you consider how many cups you consume in a year, for me it is around 750, that is a lot of potential chemical exposure. Coffee is one of the most traded and most sprayed crops in the world. It is estimated that around 115kg of toxins are sprayed per acre of coffee. Wow, that’s a worry!!... What can you do? Buy organic coffee and invest in yourself, you are worth it. You could go to the next level like my husband and roast your own, believe me it’s pretty special.

23.01.2022 Grateful, day 4 What are you grateful for today? Yesterday was a bit of a low day for me with mixed messages from my association, can we see people, can't we see people? ... We are now allowed to operate as usual to help take the burden off the health care system. This means back to face to face consultations which is what I love to do. Today I was blessed with a beautiful new client that chose to come and see me in the midst of all this craziness. I hope I helped her as much as she helped me. You are all very special to me and I hope that I can continue connecting with you all.

23.01.2022 Coronavirus Support- Online or phone consultations available. I wanted to let all of my customers know that my business has in no way been affected by this virus and is operating as usual. I am aware that some of you may choose to self-isolate or have been required to do so. If you have an appointment scheduled, or if you need to make one, I am able to do this online or even via telephone hook up if necessary. - If you are a client and feel that you need some additional imm...une supporting supplements then please get in touch and I will prescribe an appropriate product. - If you aren't a client but would like some assistance, I am unable to prescribe anything without a consultation, however I have created a 30 minute phone consultation option to alleviate time constraints and to comply with regulations. On a personal note I have been saddened to see the foods that will improve your immune system being left on the shelves and those that will dampen your immune system running out the door with the toilet paper. From a nutritional point of view, here are some things you can do to keep yourself healthy. - Increase your intake of fresh vegetables and limit your intake of sugar and alcohol. - Add fresh garlic, chilli, turmeric and ginger to your meals along with an array of fresh herbs to increase the nutritional content. - Increase your intake of fermented foods such as homemade kombucha, kefir, sauerkraut or other fermented vegetables as well as natural unsweetened yoghurt. - Make a bone broth and freeze in blocks for use as a base for soups and stews. - When cooking, choose meals that can be made in larger quantities and frozen should you need to be quarantined. - Keep hydrated and rest if you feel that you need it. - Exercise is important for both the immune system and your mental health. - Take sensible precautions but please don't live in fear. - Fear causes stress levels to rise which lowers the immune system. - Trust in your own belief systems and reach out when you need help. - Be kind to one another, we have an opportunity to be there for our relatives, friends and neighbours. - Think of ways to support your local businesses as they are struggling and this is only the beginning. https://www.indulgentwellbeing.com//30-minute-immune-phone

22.01.2022 Great advice from Dr Brighthope on the use of nutritional remedies for the treatment of Covid and a little perspective. Thank you so much for acknowledging the power of nutrition. #Istandforhealth https://www.facebook.com/HealthAustraliaParty/videos/1602885823220643/

20.01.2022 DOES AUSTRALIA HAVE A CURE FOR COVID 19? I have been very quiet on the Covid topic as it is a very emotive subject with strong opinions on both sides. It is time for me to speak out and I hope that you all see that I am coming from a place of love and compassion. From a nutritional perspective I find the conversation surrounding the prevention and treatment of Covid 19 frustrating to say the least. There has been no discussion regarding looking after your health, in fact on...ly the opposite. Fast food stores and bottle shops are considered essential services but exercise and access to sunlight is limited. Many of the markets that people rely on for their fresh organic produce are closed but grocery shops packed with processed foods, sprayed produce and imported GMO foods remain open. It may also surprise you to know that I am not allowed to make public recommendations on the use of nutritional intervention in the treatment of Covid, or I risk losing my registration. Our very own Australian Nobel prize winner Professor Borody has been the inspiration for this post. He claims to have the cure for Covid 19 but none of the main-stream media are interested in what he has to say. I first heard him interviewed by Sky news, very dodgy interview to say the least (link in comments). His message though, amazing. Professor Borody states that this is a simple virus to kill with a cheap and effective combination of medications that have already been approved and have been around for over 50 years. He states that he has had a 100% success rate with very mild side effects such as a mild headache or a sore toe. Unlike the vaccine that will make billions of dollars for the pharmaceutical industry, there is no profit in it for Dr Borody. All he wants is Australia and the rest of the world to be free of this disaster with no more unnecessary deaths. He recommends that aged care homes should be getting this straight away. We need to start treating Victorians straight away. Why isnt everyone using it? Its time to listen the evidence is clear. Professor Borody All of his research and data has been sent to our Government in Australia but there is no interest at all? I implore you to please share this information and appeal to your local member so we can protect the vulnerable both from Covid 19 and all the other people that are suffering mentally and financially. I would love to see this headline all around the world Australian Professor Finds Cure for Covid 19. With love, Alison https://www.2hd.com.au//ivermectin-clinical-trial-the-fa/

20.01.2022 Healthy Fat and Low Carb Christmas Menu. For those clients that are able to adopt this kind of diet, you will be thrilled by this menu. These Australian ladies are amazing and all their recipes have been a great success. Merry Christmas!

20.01.2022 I have written a couple of articles for an independent Brisbane magazine called The Leadership Review. Here is my latest article on the link between diet, inflammation and anxiety and depression. I hope you enjoy it. https://www.theleadershipreview.co

19.01.2022 Growing your own veggies gives you a wonderful sense of achievement not to mention the freshness and nutritional quality can't be beaten. In our last house it was human versus possum and the possum won many times over. This yard thankfully there aren't any possums, so far please don't tell any of them! This is after just one week of planting very small seedlings of the following: - Yellow egg tomatoes... - Basil - Parsley - Mizuna - Rainbow Chard - Capsicum - Red lettuce - Mint We are using an organic biodynamic fertiliser whilst waiting for the worm farm to produce some tea. Can't wait for the first harvest but I don't think it will take long.

18.01.2022 Feeling grateful, day 16 What are you grateful for today? The joy of dancing, getting the body moving, releasing all of those wonderful endorphins and forgetting what is going on around you and just being in the moment.... Nia does this particularly well, but even though we can't get to our usual gatherings it doesn't mean that you can't dance by yourself. You would be so surprised at the amount of energy you will be expending as a side benefit. Let you hair down and have as much fun as you can and dance like no-one is watching. x

18.01.2022 Grateful, day 2 What are you grateful for today?

17.01.2022 Help keep Australia pro-choice when it comes to the flu vaccination. Many, including my husband are being pressured to have the flu vaccine by his employer. If you believe as I do that we should have the right to decide what we put into our body then please sign and share. Two important petitions....Continue reading

17.01.2022 Gratitude is the Key For me and my family this is not the first time we have been faced with uncertainty surrounding income. It was a number of years ago now, but I have been here before and learnt many lessons that are helping me to navigate this uncertainty. You see we lost everything material; our income, our house, our savings all gone. It was a terrible time with very high levels of stress, guilt and depression. Lets stop for a moment and talk about what we gained; ...this is what I am hoping the world will take away from this. We gained a greater appreciation of the truly important things in our life, our family, health, the value of friendship and connections within the wider community. The beauty in the world and the strength and tenacity of humanity. There is far too much negativity surrounding us and we need to change the energy by changing our mindset. We cant control the uncontrollable, but we can start to appreciate what we have. I am going to post one thing that I am grateful for each day. Be there for your friends and neighbours as I know you will. Please join me in uplifting yourself and others, copy this, comment on my post, start your own thread, however you would like to participate is just fine. Today is day 1 and I am grateful for www.indulgentwellbeing.com

17.01.2022 Grateful, days 11, 12 & 13 What are you grateful for today? Yes I missed a few days and there is a reason for that. I needed a break as I was becoming overwhelmed with all the changes, the bombardment of information and my sadness over our current situation.... I am very grateful that I have the power of my mind to make decisions that can protect and serve me rather than damage me. I am control over my thoughts and feelings, I know that to be true but it is very hard when you are trying to filter everything out around you. To survive I have implemented the following guidelines for myself starting today. - No scrolling on facebook. I use it for work so it still needs to be a part of my day, but I am checking notifications only. - News updates once a day. I read the news first thing in the morning as I need to know if I can still work for one thing but other than that, no radio, no free to air TV. I am also trying not to talk about what is happening in the family more than once a day. - Exercise, this calms me and keeps me fit and healthy. Meditation would be wonderful but to say I am a novice is the understatement of the year. - Music, it is on as often and possible especially those tunes that you can sing along to. Anything maudlin gets skipped quick smart. - Interaction every day with my friends. Phone, message whatever it takes to stay connected. - Funny youtube videos, I have never enjoyed them more. Focus on the positive and try and integrate some boundaries for yourself, it might just help us get through this. www.indulgentwellbeing.com

17.01.2022 The wash up after my 3 Day alkalising juice fest. Day 1: My body struggled a little as it was expecting food, I don't usually get hungry but my stomach did grumble. Had an amazing sleep. Day 2: Wasnt looking for food at all but woke up with a slight headache that got worse as the day progressed. Not enough to take anything but I did rest on the couch with a pot of Jasmine tea. Dont know if it was a coincidence or not but the headache completely went after that. Another g...reat sleep. Day 3. Felt amazing and was almost thinking that I didnt want it to end. No hunger, no headaches. Great sleep! The wrap up is that I feel lighter, I have more energy, I feel like my body is more oxygenated, my skin looks better and it is 10am on day 4 and I still havent eaten. I will be doing this regularly, probably once a month. During this process, I was careful to follow my normal routine of running and walking, doing a total of about 12km per day. P.S. Hubby wants to do it with me next time so he must have noticed! #Istandforhealth

16.01.2022 Capsicums are at their absolute best at the moment so make the most of these colourful fruits. I love them so much that I can eat them just like an apple. Nutrients they include: - Huge amount of vitamin C, not only a wonderful antioxidant and great for the immune system but it is also a co-factor for the absorption of many other nutrients.... - Vitamin A, who doesn't want good eyesight, gut health or skin quality. - B6. Needed for the production of neurotransmitters, blood production, energy. - K1, bone health and blood clotting. - Potassium, wow so important for mitochondrial function, nerve singling, fluid retention and blood pressure. - Folate, neurotransmitters, energy, liver function, heart health, allergies. - Vitamin E, also an antioxidant, brain health, skin and hormones Have I talked you into buying them yet? How about a Mexican feast, brightening up a dull salad or grilled, peeled and marinated in olive oil and balsamic vinegar? Yummmmmm. #foodismedicine

16.01.2022 Food quality is so important, but Australian. While we are at, NZD clean up your importation laws and stop allowing the importing and relabeling of Chinese grown food and passing it off as your own. This is misleading and damaging to our health and the survival of our farming industry.

14.01.2022 I don't know about the rest of you but after all the stress over the last few months I am seriously in need of a reset and felt like my detox in February was aeons ago! I am trialling a 3 day alkalising, nutrient dense juice fest, with the only food being small amounts of cashews, pumpkin seeds and avocado. Each bowl pictured contains the ingredients for three juices over three days. There is a green, a citrus and a purple blend. One of each over the day. I am on day one a...nd have currently had my green blend and some cashews. No coffee or chocolate, we shall see if I turn into Godzilla!! I will keep you all posted.

14.01.2022 Grateful, day 8 What are you grateful for today? I am someone, like many of my clients, that suffers from anxiety. Mostly I can keep it well under control with my diet and lifestyle but in this current situation I am finding it difficult to adapt. My saving grace? Running!... This is my form of meditation, breathe and put one foot in front of the other. At the end I feel so much calmer and more grounded. Probably helps that I run near the water as well. At this rate I will be very lean and fit, maybe even a marathon in my future?! You have to know me to know how funny that is, no chance!

If you would like to: - Manage your weight - Improve your energy levels - Clear up your skin - Balance your blood sugar levels - Improve your sleep quality - Overall general health Then join me on the 1st of February and we can go through our annual detox together. 12.01.2022 Feeling grateful, day 6 What are you grateful for today? Without the beauty of mother nature I am not sure I would be surviving this current situation. Today I went for a run along the waterfront followed by a walk with my dogs and my philosophical son. Such beauty there is in the world.

12.01.2022 Sharing a warning from the therapeutic goods administration who are finally starting to make the producers of over the counter supplements more accountable by listing ALL of the ingredients. This products contains milk though it is not listed on the label. Warning for all of those who are concerned about milk allergies or lactose intolerance.

11.01.2022 I stand for a health system that heals us rather than harming us. What do you stand for?

11.01.2022 You are normal.

11.01.2022 Following up on my last post. This is incredible news, let's hope that this is pushed through to all GP's as quickly as possible and those that can safely have the treatment are given the option, especially those in our aged care facilities. To all my friends who have loved ones that are at risk or know of anyone that is, please share this with them as soon as possible. Let's protect them and get through this pandemic.... www.indulgentwellbeing.com

10.01.2022 What does one do when they can’t leave the house? Cook! I decided to try out these delicious recipes from the Thermo Foodie & The Chef. On the left we have Breakfast Buns and the right is a Chocolate Brownie which I enjoyed with cream and a coffee. Great easy to follow recipes using whole foods and wheat free.... https://www.thermofoodieandthechef.com/

09.01.2022 Feeling grateful, day 7 What are you grateful for today? Growing up Mum used to make me cook dinner and I have done the same to my boys. So grateful now as at least I know that I can cater for myself and my family.... Any young women out there look out I have two self sufficient young men looking for a good home who can cook and clean!

09.01.2022 Luxx drops seem to be the latest crazy sweeping social media and I have to admit they look really pretty, and I was drawn to them. Who doesn’t want a little sparkle in their life, especially after the last 12 months. On closer inspection of the ‘listed’ ingredients I would strongly recommend that you do not ingest this product. They claim that the drops have been developed with over 90% natural Australian Ingredients including all natural colours. Hmmm, what about the othe...r 10% that hasn’t been listed? Let’s have a closer look at the ‘listed’ ingredients: - 160a, not too bad an orange pigment from vegetables. - 171, Titanium Dioxide. Listed as possibly carcinogenic to humans causing tumour based cancers. - 172, Iron Oxide. Concerns with possible contamination of other heavy metals such as lead. - 202, Potassium Sorbate. Linked to food intolerances, possible liver damage, asthma, behavioural problems. Should be avoided for anyone with kidney and heart problems. - 330, Citric Acid. Also linked to food intolerances, can also be hydrolysed creating MSG (621), genetically modified (GMO). - 129, Allura Red. This one is actually banned overseas. Aggravates food intolerances, suspected carcinogen causes skin rashes and hypersensitivity. Causes asthma and allergic reactions, linked to cancer. - 102, Tartrazine. Banned overseas, linked to hyperactivity, skin rashes, migraines, behavioural problems, thyroid problems and chromosomal damage, asthma, cancer, allergic reactions. - 133, Brilliant Blue. Banned overseas, suspected carcinogen, linked to hyperactivity, asthma, allergic reactions. - E150, Caramels. Lined to gastrointestinal problems and hypersensitivity. - E415 Xanthan Gum. Emulsifier and thickening agent, GMO. Causes asthma, skin irritation, Hay fever foods intolerances, allergies and adverse reactions. All the sparkle is now gone. Remember how I bang on about ingredients lists that include numbers and words that you can’t pronounce? They are not good for you, do not ingest them.

09.01.2022 3 Day Juice Fast Program Done After trialling the program myself I have finally taken all of this information and presented it in an easy to follow program that you can all do on your own. It contains a detailed shopping list and clear instructions on how to make each of the juices. You will need access to a juicer not a blender to participate.... No supplements, no long term commitments just 3 days. You can do that right? The cost is $60 plus GST but if you are an existing client there is no charge. If you want to do this with me I will be doing it myself on the week commencing the 28th of September but you can do it any time. Depending on numbers of those who want to join me I will create a facebook page for all of us to participate so PM or email me info@indulgentwellbeing if you want to be included.

08.01.2022 Growing your own herbs and veggies is a wonderful way to increase your nutrient intake as you can control the soil they are grown in and the food they are given. I discovered this wonderful rebate from the BCC for a composting solution. All you do is watch two short videos, one on bin composting and the other on worm farms. Choose which one suits you and then complete a quick questionnaire. You are then sent a code that you can use to receive a rebate of $70 once you have ...purchased your chosen system. We have just moved house so we decided on a worm farm system and I found an amazing one that is made in Australia. If you are in Brisbane the link is below but hopefully other councils around Australia may offer something similar. BTW I did this Monday and already have my farm and my rebate back from the council. https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au//co/compost-rebate-program

07.01.2022 Grateful, day 3 What are you grateful for today?

06.01.2022 Feeling grateful, day 15 What are you grateful for today? It is very important at this time to keep up your self care rituals. One of mine is to sit and relax on my verandah with a lovely coffee with some dark chocolate. It is a small thing but it is something that brings me joy. A world without chocolate is a sad world indeed.

05.01.2022 Business as usual??

05.01.2022 One of the biggest sad face moments is when I ask client's to give up wheat. Me too by the way, there is nothing better than avocado on toast or dare I say Vegemite! The problem is that our Australian wheat is very destructive to our gut lining and microbiome. I am always looking for tasty nutritious alternatives and this I have to say is one of my favourites. Made locally in peoples homes rather than a big industrial kitchen, I love the story and the product. Nutritious,... delicious and filling. https://primalalternative.com I buy mine through Spray-Free Farmacy when I do my veggie order each week. not

04.01.2022 This is just so true. How much ill health is caused by human intervention?

04.01.2022 Thank you to all of my wonderful clients. Like many of you I have struggled with the lack of control that we have over our lives with the Covid 19 situation. It has touched us all in many different ways from an increase in mental health issues, me included, job uncertainty, business uncertainty, stress and worry about the unknown. The biggest thing I am struggling with is feeling like I am treading water and that I can't make any plans for the future.... On a positive note and the reason for this post is to say thank you to my clients. When I feel stressed, which I seem to often these days, one of you walks through my door and I am reminded why I am here and that I love my job. You might feel stressed and unwell and frustrated but knowing that you trust me enough to help you is so very special to me. Remember why you are here and how much you have to offer and hopefully the world will return to normal soon.

03.01.2022 Grateful, day 9 What are you grateful for today? One of my lovely friends Jo introduced me to a song called Chicken Fried by the Zac Brown Band. I had completely forgotten about it until I had a flat day and Kerry told me to play it. From that day on, full volume whilst cooking dinner!... A little bit of country and a little bit of pop but I challenge you to listen to it without bopping along. There is no way you can stay flat when this song is playing. I hope there aren't any cameras because I am definitely singing and dancing like no-one is watching. I challenge you to add this song to your day. As an added bonus, my teenage boys absolutely hate it. Winning! Here's a link if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/e4ujS1er1r0

03.01.2022 I don't use my full title very often but I am a Clinical Nutritional Medicine Practitioner and this is why I am still able to practice. Not sure what to do to help your immune system, then please reach out. https://www.acnem.org//nutritional-medicine-not-soft-appro

02.01.2022 Feeling grateful, day 14 What are you grateful for today? Many of you would have seen a photo of Ginger my cuddle specialist but I also have Truffles who is definitely not a cuddle specialist but more like a terrorist! ... Put both of them together and you have the perfect pairing of cuddles and fun. We had a lovely play at the dog beach yesterday and it is impossible not to be happy around them. I am so grateful every day for their smiling faces and Truffles mischievous nature.

02.01.2022 Grateful, day 5 What are you grateful for today? It is such a beautiful day and I am so happy that I can still walk into Sandgate and buy quality fruit and vegetables from our local markets. I can't stop eating the beans and the strawberries and raspberries are like bombs of flavour in your mouth. It was also lovely to be able to have a chat to Susie Orr - Bowen and Yoga and her lovely husband and feel connected.... I am currently using all the off cuts from my vegetables to make an immune boosting stock concentrate packed with herbs and lots of garlic.

02.01.2022 Eating well doesn’t mean missing out. A scrumptious healthy breakfast overlooking the water. Veggies with fried eggs and a bullet proof coffee. Life’s tough.

01.01.2022 One of my dear friends sent this to me this morning and I couldn't resist sharing. If you have met Truffles and Ginger in my clinic then you will know that this is a very good likeness of both of them. What do you think should they be our new new mascots? Maybe I should change my website and logo? ... Love these dogs!

01.01.2022 Grateful, day 10 What are you grateful for today? I had a wonderful personal training session on the grass at the waterfront today with Kerry Jeffs from Cloud 9. I was mesmerised by the beautiful blue sky and nourished by the sun's rays.... Vitamin D is one of our best defences against illness and yet most of us are deficient. Nourish your mind and body, get outside and exercise and make some of that beautiful vitamin D. To make Vitamin D, you need to expose at least 20% of your skin to the sun's rays until just before you start feeling like you are going to get burnt.
