17.01.2022 Come and listen to author Jacqueline Craigie at Carindale Library tomorrow night at 6pm as she talks about her book "Innocence Lost: The Last Man Hanged in Queensland". Jacqueline Craigie will reveal for the first time previously unknown criminal history, photographs and images of the last man hanged in Queensland - Ernest Austin - who killed an 11 year old girl. Austin was executed on 22 September 1913 and was the last person executed at notorious Boggo Road Gaol. 13.01.2022 "I never will forget that day she cried so many tears I'd never seen so many tears before She asked me if I'd think of her, and I said perhaps I would But I'd often broke my promises before And then she stood, and sat and slept, and then began to weep... And when I saw that, we parted on the shore" Austin would often be heard in his cell at night shouting, talking loudly and singing. His babbling was often punctuated by "God Save the King" and snatches of the song "We Parted On The Shore".
