25.01.2022 The prevention of family violence is a major and ongoing focus for this group because of its prevalence in Melbourne's #OuterSuburbs. A pilot program teaching Yr 11 and 12 students and their parents about relationship red flags sounds like a good idea. 24.01.2022 We are encouraged that State and Local Governments can work together to develop ambitious policies and achieve new objectives based on the current social and economic needs of outer suburban residents. This budget will go a fair way to prioritise the most vulnerable in our communities, support local health, provide employment and get local priorities on track. 24.01.2022 Do you know a young person who might be disengaged from school and struggling with mental health concerns? We’re interested to hear more about the newly-announced Living Learning program that looks to provide care and support for these kids. Ros Spence MP Melbourne City Mission - MCM #springst... 22.01.2022 If waitlists for psychologists have ballooned in inner Melbourne, imagine how the outer regions are coping. We’re calling for additional services where the additional demand is. https://bit.ly/3oA3vh9 Martin Foley MP #springst

19.01.2022 Got a spare minute or two this morning? Now that we know the Victorian State Budget is on 24 November, why not have a read of the Interface Councils Budget Submission? It’s available on our website here: https://bit.ly/3effHzb

17.01.2022 It's NAIDOC Week! If you’ve got some spare time this morning at 11am you can join Aboriginal Learning Facilitators in a virtual tour of "Bush Foods for the Backyard" at Casey Cardinia Libraries. #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe https://www.cclc.vic.gov.au/naidoc-week-2020/

11.01.2022 A new report from Grattan Institute says mega projects "should be a last, not a first resort in the COVID recovery effort. "Taxpayers would get a bigger bang for their buck if politicians steered clear of what they like to call 'nation-building' and 'city-shaping' mega-projects, and instead spent more on upgrading existing infrastructure and on social infrastructure such as aged care and mental health care." Small and medium community-led projects should be at the forefront... come State Budget Day. What do you think? https://bit.ly/3ldzMs6 The Age

05.01.2022 Are you a commuter? The State Budget doesn’t do much for those driving from Mornington Peninsula Shire into the CBD. Not being close to a railway line and a lack of investment in buses means there will be no change to this two-hour commute.... Mr Hawkins has to drive to Bittern station, then take three trains to get to work in the city. The waiting times at stations and the knock-on effect of delays add to the daily grind. "If they were more innovative about the way they did it, I might be able to catch a bus all the way from here into the city." https://bit.ly/2USNVzF The Age #MovingPeople #CatchUp #springst

03.01.2022 Today we're very glad the State Budget announced $75 million for the #GrowingSuburbsFund! "These local projects go a long way to reduce disadvantage and improve health and wellbeing outcomes at a grassroots level in those areas that have been hit hard by the pandemic." 02.01.2022 More social housing in Melbourne’s outer region = more local jobs in construction. It’s time to act now. Image by Anastasiia Chepinska via Unsplash ... https://bit.ly/31H4MJg
