03.01.2022 Here’s a little history most people don’t know .... talk about Fork in the road moments ... almost everything i’ve done in Taekwon-Do almost never was .... it pretty much happened as a result of losing all my money. Back story - my first overseas training was not actually in Taekwon-Do (although i was already 2nd degree).......after a little training with Chinese police cadets in Xuzhou 1989 after graduating from my Phys Ed degree, i was offered a 2 year scholarship at the Ch...ina Institute of Mining & Technology to complete a Masters degree in Chinese Wushu. I actually accepted the scholarship which was due to commence 6 months later ... so i went back home and trained hard, combined with working nightclub security almost every night, putting all my money in Pyramid Building Society at 19% interest ... which collapsed and froze all accounts just 2 weeks before my term deposit matured and i was due to leave for China, possibly rarely to return. ... so with no money and my tail between my legs .... i took the first PE teaching job that was offered, which brought me to Melton, where i opened my first Taekwondo school, and Thoroughbred Taekwondo was born ... within 3 years i went from penniless to buying my own house...... and the rest, as they say ..... is history So when ‘losers’ tell me ... ‘how would you know, you wouldn’t know what its like to have nothing’ ...... on the contrary .... it was the experience of having nothing that fueled my work ethic, drive and ambition to ensure i never had ‘nothing’ again. #fate #destiny #forkintheroad #broke #pyramid #startagain #muleta #rebuild #wushu #kungfu #china #taekwondo #therestishistory See more
