15.01.2022 Congratulations to all the HAIR AND MAKEUP Nominees for this years AACTA Award for Best Hair and Makeup presented by Hask took us on a journey across vastly different looks of the decades, spanning the 1800s with TRUE HISTORY OF THE KELLY GANG (Kirsten Veysey), the 1950s with OPERATION BUFFALO (Sheldon Wade), and the 1970s with I AM WOMAN (Nikki Gooley, Wendy de Waal, Cassie O’Brien). The horror of RELIC was brought to life by looks created by Angela Conte, Larry Van Duynhove...n and Bec Taylor, and the mayhem of time and place-bending US cult-hit PREACHER (filmed in Melbourne), was made all the more convincing thanks to hair and makeup by Chiara Tripodi, Toni Ffrench and Larry Van Duynhoven (complementing his nomination for RELIC). They were pearl and they were so cool! So for Daybreakers, we made scores of teeth primarily custom-fit porcelain veneers for the Vampires and custom fit Over-dentures with soft liners for the Subsiders and Stunts. ... The @spierigbrothers Daybreakers is now timeless a cult classic. Dental prosthetics and fangs designed and created by myself and @robroy23 with master technician @renataloren1364 . Egyptian dentistry where the Egyptians would replace and support lost and unstable teeth with the careful placement of wire work and donor teeth . They would drill holes in the sound adjacent teeth to anchor the wire work. This particular case was set up and balanced so the actor can go into a Class III when acting then revert back to his normal centric occlusion when relaxed. This was 10 years ago and Suyin just put it up on her Facebook today so thought I’d share. @lux_concept_salon Part of what she said. 10 years ago with the sun setting over the Staples Centre in LA, we got a member of security to take this grainy pic on the way to the Governor’s ball. What may sound weird certainly out there I guess. I distinctly remember that time in LA. The strange Gold light I would experien...ce nearly everywhere a week before. Going into Bulgari on Rodeo drive looking at the rings and Suyin wanting one. Me saying ask the universe not me Walking half way up Rodeo drive seeing a man sitting with a sign saying the same thing, seeing the Gold light again, and within 12 steps seeing something glint and shine gold on the footpath and there it was a small gold ring. The fabulous and beautiful Emma booth describing @hayleyatherton1 and Kate Andersons cool make up process of transforming herself into "Evie" for Ben Youngs award winning Australian film "Hounds of Love" With these teeth the directive from Ben and Hayley was to give Evie a back story a kid that didn't necessary have access to first class dental care growing up. Emma went on to win the best actress of the year for her role.... It's a fine line in creating a believable character with dental prosthetics. In this case subtlety was the key. Just twisting teeth, changing the long axis of certain teeth by adding to the incisal edges and fine staining was the trick. Huge thanks to Ben, Hayley and Emma.
