Well, the Jindera Museum has decided to join in and post an online jigsaw puzzle via Jigsaw Planet. This one doesn’t have many pieces, but you can change the settings to make it more challenging, up to 300 pieces or even rotate the pieces to drive yourself completely mad. Just click on the link above. Enjoy!

17.01.2022 The JPM Committee and Members are devoted to constantly bettering our collection and creating a time capsule for our visitors. We are very excited that today, after many months of planning, our newly constructed machinery shed is getting some much anticipated additions. Pop in over the school holidays and come see our new display!

16.01.2022 A very exciting visit to the Museum today! Caitlin, representing the Jindera IGA, presented the Museum with a donation from their IGA Community Chest. The IGA Community Chest is a wonderful initiative to support local communities. The money is raised in a number of ways but predominately through the purchase of products with an IGA Community Chest logo on the label or ticket. When you purchase a product with the IGA Community Chest logo printed on the label a percentage is credited to that store’s IGA Community Chest account. The Museum is extremely grateful for the support of Jindera IGA.

Well, some people may say a lovely bowl of hot soup would suit them just as well. That’s right, the Tea Room is now serving soup accompanied by a sourdough roll. Todays soup is an unbelievably delicious Chicken, Corn and Cauliflower. And the Museum and Tea Room are both open until 4pm today. ... See you there! See more

11.01.2022 Today is 11th November, Remembrance Day. On this day, the hostilities of World War I ceased and each year at 11am we take a moment to silently reflect on this event. We remember other wars and the effect on loved ones, both physical and emotional. And we also think about those Australian servicemen and women who are still serving around the world. The museum has a wonderful collection of wartime memorabilia. From a Boer War saddle, World War I postcards, to World War II uniforms, just to name a few. One special object is a board game from World War I, With the Diggers. The game follows possible events in an Australian soldier’s life, including enlistment, battles, and returning home. The museum is open daily from 10 till 4.

08.01.2022 A very Happy Father’s Day to all the Dads out there, especially to our hard-working volunteers. On Father’s Day we will have our scrumptious Devonshire Tea plus other sweet treats. Soup on the Sunday menu has proved to be a winner and this week it is a lovely Smoked Hock and Sweet Potato, served with a bread roll. Yum. 08.01.2022 When you are next in Lavington call in to the Lavington Library to see their new exhibition, Made in Lavington. From gold seeking to silk farming, wood carting and stone breaking, the early 1900s also saw Lavington become a prosperous fruit growing region, with local produce prized for its quality and variety. A featured item in the exhibition is the Brann Cup, on loan to the library from the Jindera Pioneer Museum collection. In the 1920s and early 1930s Jindera won the Brann Cup for the produce display at the Albury Show. Actually, Jindera won that competition each year from 1927 until Lavington was successful in 1932.

07.01.2022 With the beautiful springtime weather upon us the museum grounds are looking a picture. You are welcome to bring some lunch with you and sit outside to enjoy the garden. Open daily from 10am till 4pm. And don’t forget the Tea Room is open every Sunday from 11am for delicious treats.

07.01.2022 During the time that the museum was closed due to Covid restrictions we took the opportunity to refresh some of the displays. One of the new displays is the Wedding Dress case. Two beautiful wedding dresses are featured. One came from a well-known Jindera family and the other is a mystery. When Ella Evelyn Melita Schmidt married Carl Oscar Waldemar Briese in 1936 she wore a beautiful gown of satin with a lace overlay, very much in fashion in the 1930s. The other wedding go...wn is in a style from the mid-1910s. Made of silk with many tiny pintucks, the identity of the bride is unknown. We would love to have more information about this stunning wedding gown. See more

07.01.2022 Early in the Covid lockdown we took the opportunity to refresh some of the museum spaces. Recently we continued with our plans and we are so pleased with the result. The stained glass and leadlight windows and doors that had previously been displayed in the attic space can now be seen in all their beauty in the main Gallery in the Museum. These windows and doors were donated to the Museum many years ago. They came from Valetta, the home of Dr. William Cleaver Woods, in Swift ...Street, Albury. The beautiful building was demolished in the 1960s to make way for the Albury Convention Centre. Many thanks to all those involved with this project. The museum is open daily from 10am until 4pm. #jinderapioneermuseum #visitalburywodonga #thingstodoinalbury See more

06.01.2022 Hey kids, do you need a last minute Father’s Day gift for Dad? A present that he will cherish and will make him the envy of his friends? The museum has just the thing. Our new Jindera Pioneer Museum stubby holder! For just $10 he can have a quality stubby holder. Not one of those thin and flimsy ones that just don’t do the job.... This stubby holder will keep his drink nice and cold. The museum is open today from 11am till 3pm and tomorrow until 4pm. Plus, the Tea Room will be open on Sunday for a special treat for Dad. 05.01.2022 Sunday was a beautiful day for a drive north of the border. So, with that in mind, members of the Albury Wodonga Morris Minor Car Club arrived in Jindera for a visit to the museum. The museum is always very popular with car clubs and we were very pleased to be able to welcome new and past visitors.

03.01.2022 As of today December 1st we are excited to announce after months of preparations will be to the public. (offical opening day will be held in March 2021). The amazing volunteers have sourced some interesting items, such as.. A Gem Deucher engine and 1916 Moline tractor - which was moved into the working engine shed at the last monthly working bee. The shed crew have cleaned up the Moline tractor. Next challenge is to get the Moline tractor engine running and to start easily and reliably, to enable it to be driven in & out of the shed. There are multiple other interesting piece of working machinery to take a look at next time you visit the museum. We look forward to seeing you there.

01.01.2022 Our visitors always take a great interest in the Cabinet of Curiosity. The displays change from time to time and we like to feature the special collections of our museum members. It is fascinating to discover the things people collect and why they do so. The very timely display of Christmas decorations belongs to our museum member, the lovely Michelle. The objects on display are just a small part of her collection! Call in any day of the week between 10 and 4 to see Michelle’s collection and our many other displays. They all have a story to tell.
