19.01.2022 Taking a break from home schooling at Frankston Blood Donation Centre. Donating blood is an essential act of care-giving. That means its exempt from all restrictions on your movement, including the 5km limit and curfew in Melbourne. Please book a donation at your closest donor centre. https://don8blood.com/33lDidR

14.01.2022 Today I am publicly announcing my intention to nominate as a candidate in the upcoming local council elections in Victoria in October. I am proudly going to nominate for Council in the Briars Ward for the Mornington Peninsula Shire. Campaigning for public office during a global pandemic (and while I home school 3 children!!) and whilst we are in Stage 4 lockdown is certainly going to be a challenge. However my passion is using my skills, voice and time to help causes in my local area - our local school, local community groups and now my local council. I am willing to stand up and help address challenges facing local groups and cohorts. I am an effective operator, a good listener and have a passion to serve. : Mick Tsikas/AAP

13.01.2022 The first community issue Id like to publicly support is the refusal of the planning application for the Ryman development on Kunyung Road Mount Eliza. The Council Planning Dept and the current Councillors have done their best with unanimously refusing planning application, however Ryman are taking their plans to VCAT, as is their right, but also have applied directly to Minister Richard Wynne to have their project fast tracked as a COVID recovery project. If he were to appr...ove this, it would be in complete contradiction to what the land was originally intended for and what the community wants. I have written to the Minister and I urge every person opposed to this application to email the Minister insisting he not approve this application and request that he uphold the C270morn amendment to remove the special use overlay and return the zoning to green wedge (please reference Council Planning Application number P19/2453) - the Ministers email address is [email protected]. For more information on this please take a look at a wonderful page started by the surrounding community to save this land from gross over development. https://www.facebook.com/saveregswedge/

07.01.2022 The Mornington Peninsula Shire council has reviewed its practices and listened to feedback and are now seeking your input on a draft Community Engagement Strategy. The Community Engagement Strategy will guide how they go about providing opportunities for residents to play a more meaningful role in decision making. The draft strategy is based on a set of core principles that will underpin every community engagement activity, including:... - Those affected by a decision have a right to be involved in the decision-making process - The purpose of the community engagement should be clear and serve the needs of the participants - Every effort should be made to include those potentially affected by or interested in a decision - Participants should be provided with the information and support they need to participate in a meaningful way - Participants should be informed of the ways in which the engagement process will influence Council decision-making. The draft Community Engagement Strategy is available for public comment from now until September 22. View the strategy and complete the survey https://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au//draft-community-engagement https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8QJXJFX

02.01.2022 Why I am standing for Council My late mother demonstrated to me how valuable being involved in community is by her involvement at our school, our church and, later in life, in her local council village committees. She helped so many people, and her lifes contributions gave me pause for thought. And, as a member of a democratic and caring community I believe we should step-up and use our skills to help others when we can. Only when I had to slow down my life, after having tw...ins, did I have a chance to live my Mums example. I have since found so much joy by being involved at my kids school and the Australian Multiple Birth Association. I dont see my previous existence or working in the corporate world as pointless far from it, I can now use the skills and experience I gained working as an investment industry marketing executive to help drive forward agendas which help to improve lives. I am committed to this direction in my life, and I am delighted to have recently been offered a part scholarship to complete the Diploma of Governance at the Institute of Community Directors Australia. This course focuses on the governing skills which are essential for Councillors. I would be honoured if you would vote for me to represent you in the Briars Ward, at the upcoming Mornington Peninsula Shire council elections.

01.01.2022 Wouldnt it be great if Mornington Peninsula Shire had grants for small business during this time like our neighbouring Frankston Council (see Mornington Peninsula Shires current offering https://www.mornpen.vic.gov.au//Business-i/Business-Grants)
