25.01.2022 Yesterday the new Residential Aged Care Direction came into effect which includes changes to restrictions for people visiting and working in Residential Aged Care Facilities. Under these changes, all people who enter a Residential Aged Care Facility (other than a resident or child under 12 years of age) must wear a single use surgical mask at all times when in the presence of other people (unless they are eating or drinking). Cloth masks are no longer acceptable. Our Communit...y Help at Home care workers will also be wearing single use surgical masks when providing services to clients. For more information please read the updated Direction (Link:https://tinyurl.com/y56qe6bk) and SA Health's FAQs about Mandatory Mask Use (Link: https://tinyurl.com/y6xs46pj). 20.01.2022 Congratulations to May, who recently celebrated her 100th birthday! May was born at home in 1920 on a cherry farm at Cherryville in the Adelaide Hills. The home birth was quite a surprise for May’s parents, because unbeknown to them they were about to have twins! Mary arrived first, and then 10 minutes later May entered the world. Growing up, May enjoyed a large property. May was the adventurous one, who loved to be outdoors and enjoyed climbing trees to pick the cherries, r...iding horses, milking cows, and was an avid tennis player. May also loved to dance, she would attend dancing with her husband Wally despite him having two left feet! May has been a great supporter of the Red Cross and would walk miles to collect donations. She also volunteered her time for many years to Meals On Wheels, before retiring and enjoying her own home, where she still resides. May celebrated her 100th Birthday recently with her extended family at one of her and her late husband’s favourite places - the Marryatville hotel. Kalyra sends our congratulations to a true ‘hills treasure’, and as May often jokingly says, she is 100 and not out!

14.01.2022 With so many changes happening this week, we still manage to get stunning skies like this to put a smile on our faces

13.01.2022 Good evening Everyone, Today we have been informed that there are two new cases of COVID-19 via community transmission. We know that there are 5,000 South Australians in quarantine and SA Health want everyone to wear masks when out and about. All residents, clients, families, staff and volunteers are advised to wear a mask when out and about in accordance with SA Health advice.... We remain in Code Orange at Kalyra. Yesterday I added closing staff tea rooms to the all the things we are doing - screening people on entry, restricting visits to one visit of up to two people per resident per day and advising residents to avoid busy public areas like cafes and shops for the time being. I would also like to thank our wonderful volunteers for your support and for helping us by staying away for the time being - I hope to update you further on 1 December. Please watch the video below, or refer to our website for further information: https://kalyra.org.au/coronavirus/ Sara Blunt Message from the CEO, 26 November 2020

07.01.2022 How inspirational is it when someone set’s a goal and achieves it, no matter how old they are or how long it takes! Woodcroft resident Jenny is one of those people. Ten years ago Jenny wanted to jump out of a plane, and in the past few weeks she achieved exactly that. Jenny has given permission to share her amazing experience with us. There was a harness secured to Jenny and the instructor, when they jumped they were at 9,000 feet, and the free fall lasted 70 seconds! While ...Jenny was sharing her story to Kalyra staff she could not stop laughing, and stating she went upside down and round and round until the parachute opened. On the descent Jenny was instructed to keep her legs out straight, which she did, and it was a perfect landing. Jenny was so proud of the fact that her NDIS companion shared this adventure with her. What in inspiration! What is on your bucket list? And what is the next action that you need to take to make it happen?

06.01.2022 A lovely morning of tea & scones was enjoyed by residents at our Woodside Village, raising money for the Memory Walk & Jog for Dementia Australia. Thank you all for your kind donations.

06.01.2022 Kalyra is still in Code Orange Preservation Plan. Today there has been an announcement that the Emergency Directive ‘Stay at Home’ that requires all South Australians to stay at home will cease at 12:01am Sunday morning. That is midnight on Saturday night. So right now on 20 Nov 2020 the Emergency Direction ‘Stay at Home’ is in effect. Please watch the video below to see what that means for us at Kalyra.... 06.01.2022 Hello Everyone, I have very good news to share, this morning the Critical Incident Management Team decided Kalyra can move to Code Green CovidSafe as of midnight tonight that’s 12.01am on 9 January 2021. As you know we remained in Code Orange while we waited to see how SA fared over the holiday period. There have been no cases of community transmission arising from the Christmas and New Year celebrations, which is excellent news!... A big thank you to all those South Australians who did and continue to do the right thing and observe quarantine and self-isolation orders not to mention the all important social distancing, hand hygiene and cough etiquette. Please watch the video below to hear more, or visit our website for further details: https://kalyra.org.au/coronavirus/ Sara Blunt Message from the CEO, 8 January 2021

05.01.2022 Kalyra Communities staff Leonie & Lisa enjoying lunch at the Belair Hotel with Help at Home clients Noel & Shirley. It’s great to see our clients getting out and about & supporting local business.

05.01.2022 Today, there is a new case of COVID-19 reported in SA. It is a person who 8 days ago went into quarantine because of close contact in the Parafield cluster. This person has had two previous tests while in quarantine which were negative. This tells us it is important to realise that in some people the 14 days is needed as it can take a bit longer. Remind everyone you know it’s not over just yet and good hand hygiene and mask wearing are the best strategies. At Kalyra I expect... all staff to wear a mask when with others, maintain 1.5m social distance (unless giving care), to maintain proper hand hygiene and work from home where possible. I also advise all our community to do the same for the next little while. Not everyone out and about at the shops and on buses are wearing masks. By doing so, your leadership in mask wearing may help others do the right thing, as well as protect you! Thank you for your effort in supporting our community. Sara Blunt Message from the CEO, 23 November 2020

05.01.2022 Keep safe everyone.

05.01.2022 Hello Everyone, Well good news for South Australia; zero cases of COVID-19, and from Monday we will have an easing of restrictions - just in time for Christmas! So what does this mean for us here at Kalyra? Watch the video below to find out!... Sara Blunt Message from the CEO, 8 December 2020

04.01.2022 We are all wearing masks here at Kalyra and are encouraging our whole community to continue to do so in keeping with SA Health advice. In South Australia the Parafield Cluster is very close to being resolved but we are not there yet. 5,000 people are in quarantine and we won't know for another few days if this has broken the chain of infection. At Kalyra we remain in Code Orange. Please read our COVID-19 Management Plan - Code Orange for further detail. These details can be f...ound on our website at https://kalyra.org.au/coronavirus/ We have also closed our tea rooms to protect our staff as we've learnt from Victoria this can be an area of transmission. Staff can use the tea room to heat up their meals and make a cup of tea and you will see them outside in the gardens in the fresh air when they are eating and drinking on their meal break. Thank you all for your tolerance in this challenging time. Thank you particularly to all our hardworking staff who have gone over and above to ensure everyone remains safe at Kalyra. Every single one of them is actively demonstrating the resilience of Jessie Brown and our values. They are very special people. Sara Blunt Message from the CEO, 25 November 2020
