20.01.2022 I've been looking after this beautiful property at Mt Crosby for the owners for the last 10 years. Everytime they go away they've added more stunning gardens. Such a beautiful peaceful place to visit.

20.01.2022 Re Covid - I've had a few of my customers worried that I won't be able to visit during lockdown. I'm considered an essential service so still allowed to visit your homes to look after your pets. Hope you and your families have a great Easter.

18.01.2022 Our Zeus had a very unusual reaction to a particular sleep spray I used becoming very agitated and disorientated and Clea reacted to an "Air Wick" diffuser I p...ut in our bathroom. She was hallucinating and growling at things that weren't there. So please read this post if you use any kind of essential oils or diffusers in your home. It might explain some unusual behaviour in your pets. Article from Greyhound Rescue Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terror. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better. Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog. I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was. So I took him to emergency vet. It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out. The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing. Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets. Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home Anise (Pimpinella anisum) Birch (Betula) Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis) Boldo (Peumus boldus) Calamus (Acorus calamus) Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) Cassia (Cassia fistula) Chenopodium (Chenopodium album) Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) Garlic (Allium sativum) Goosefoot (Chenopodium murale) Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) Hyssop (Hyssopus sp. with the exception of Decumbens) Juniper (Juniperus sp. with the exception of Juniper Berry) Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) Mustard (Brassica juncea) Oregano (Origanum vulgare) Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) Red or White Thyme Rue (Ruta graveolens) Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus) Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) Savory (Satureja) Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) Terebinth (Pistacia palaestina) Thuja (Thuja occidentalis) Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) Please share this story as it may save someones precious furry family member!

This was the temp of the pavement/ footpath etc this morning, taken by Josh.. 6.30am was 30.1... 7.30 was 32.9 as you can see still quite hot on Pooches feet, so if you cant do it without shoes then dont put them through it either , same as on Ute trays and sand.

07.01.2022 Did you know that Sago palms and other cycads are highly toxic to dogs? Many dog owners that have cycads growing in their garden are not aware until it is too l...ate. The Animal Poisons Centre has recently been involved in the management of several unfortunate cases of Sago palm poisoning. We believe this post serves as a timely reminder that the most effective treatment is prevention. Cycads contain a toxin called cycasin, which is broken down by bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract to methylazoxymethanol (MAM for short!). MAM is responsible for most of the toxic effects seen in cycad poisonings. Ingestion of any part of the plant can result in poisoning. The seeds are particularly toxic, and ingestion of even small quantities can result in severe poisoning or death. Signs of poisoning include abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhoea, drowsiness, weakness, coma, seizures, and liver failure. Whilst there is no specific antidote for cycad poisoning, seeking urgent veterinary assessment can be lifesaving. Timely veterinary assessment will allow your veterinarian to consider therapies that reduce toxin absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. The provision of supportive therapies such as intravenous fluids, stomach protectants, liver protectants and anti-seizure medications may be required. If you are a dog owner and have a Sago palm or any other cycads growing in your garden, consider removing the plant or at least restricting access to it. If your pet has eaten something they should not have, you can call the Animal Poisons Centre on 1300 869 738 (AU) or 0800 869 738 (NZ). Our service is free for all pet owners. See www.animalpoisons.com.au for more information.
