25.01.2022 The new kitchen at #karthousets - this refit will reconfigure and rejuvenate the existing living spaces to reconnect them with outdoor areas. Looking forward to starting construction on this in the coming months.

24.01.2022 Were looking for a couple of new studiomates - we have 1-2 desks available for rent in our Northcote warehouse studio. Would suit a small business or individuals whose work is mainly desk based. Includes use of nice communal kitchen and bookable meeting room. Get in touch, spread the word or see the link to the Creative Spaces listing in our bio.

22.01.2022 First - and very cold - site visit for #karthouseaa @j_spec_building

22.01.2022 Looking forward to continuing the next stage on the Armstrong Montessori Kindergarten later this year. Occupying a large suburban site the building will wrap itself around outdoor learning spaces, its roof and external wall creating a protected landscape for children to play and explore and directly related to indoor learning areas.

19.01.2022 As many have over the last few weeks, we have been shocked by the scale and extent of the fires raging across our country and the impact they are - and will continue to have - on the lives and livelihood of so many people, towns, animals and forests. Our thoughts go out to the people and communities who have experienced loss and are thankful to those who have been fighting the blazes and come to the aid of others. Looking forward, it has been difficult to return to work this ...week and get back to business as usual, we have been talking about ways in which to help in the bushfire relief and the long recovery that will eventually follow. There is no time to find perfect answers so we must act with purpose now not just in response to the devastation of this disaster but on how we might all contribute to slowing the irreversible onset of climate change and avoid a future in which this is every day. We are working on ways on how we may reduce our footprints individually and as a practice and we will share these as we go. We encourage everyone to join the collective momentum that is building to see change, there is no time to wait! @architectsdeclare_au #bushfirecrisis #bushfiresAustralia #australianbushfires #climateemergency #australianarchitects #architectsdeclare #australiaisburning

19.01.2022 At the back of a tight laneway site, this new studio and bike store will be tucked beneath a green roof tilted to face the existing house, adding a place to work from home or extra room for guests, and creating a garden extension and green outlook in this dense context.

19.01.2022 Kitchen detail at #karthousek

19.01.2022 Detail view of a four pack townhouse project we have been working on in Cheltenham. Sited on a corner, this project plays with suburban scale and density. Our proposal is for a dense brick ground floor volume which is set back from a deep roof awning which protects the windows and living spaces below. Above, a series of staggered first floor volumes breaks up the scale of the new buildings helping them fit into a context dominated by large, single houses.

18.01.2022 Looking through to the study at #karthousek. This central piece of joinery anchors and connects the living spaces, kitchen and study, conceals the tech and provides a spot to sit.

17.01.2022 Done, handover earlier this week at #karthousek.

16.01.2022 Afternoon sun playing tricks during our visit to #karthousek yesterday. @ Fairfield, Victoria

15.01.2022 Big day on site at #karthouseb yesterday with steel for the new extension going up. @ Brunswick, Victoria

14.01.2022 Old > New. With every extension the definition (or lack of) between existing and extended elements is an important question. At House B, the line where the heritage terrace house will soon meet the extension is created by making a full width opening in the back wall to clearly mark this transition.

13.01.2022 It’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to visit #karthousemt - will be nice to see how the landscape has grown in and around the house. Stair void looking out to the bay.

13.01.2022 Testing things. Handover next week at #karthousek

12.01.2022 Model of the recently completed #kart100sqmhouse @ ZOOM

11.01.2022 Light at the end of the tunnel. The owner-builders of #karthouseb have been renovating their heritage house (while living in it with two small kids) - this weekend they finally broke through the back wall of the existing house and connected to their future living area. The next step is to build up the third section of the house beyond which will wrap around an internal courtyard and house the main bedroom and ensuite over a garage and workshop. #ownerbuilderlife ... @damian_da_omen See more

10.01.2022 Site Update: Framing underway at #karthouseaa

09.01.2022 The owner-builders of #karthouseb have been making the most of lockdown. The final section of the extension taking shape. @damian_da_omen

09.01.2022 Looking dorasta to steel arriving at #karthouseb next week. Taking advantage of its corner site, the project will open up and bring light into a typical skinny terrace. The street side of the extension is defined by a translucent wall which will light the interior and register the blurry movements within, while still maintaining security and privacy from the street for the courtyard and living spaces behind it. @damian_da_omen

08.01.2022 Handover day #karthousek
