21.01.2022 As #ladybosses we need to develop a thick skin. When I was first starting out on my own, I had a few negative Nancys in my friendship circles and their negative comments or gestures would take the wind out of my sails. I would take their criticism or disapproval as a personal attack and allow it to damage my self-confidence. It was really hard in those early days. Starting a business was all new for me and I felt really insecure and unsure. I expected everyone to love my n...ew direction and to be supportive and encouraging. But there were many who seemed to revel in making me feel bad about myself. But I realise now its because I let them. Ive realised now that no matter how good you are at what you do, there are always going to be haters - people who will find something to criticise and attack. And thats OK! Because I no longer pay any attention to those people. Im able to let their negativity slide off me like water off a ducks back. Because I believe in what Im doing and Ive built up a sisterhood of beautiful women around me who support and encourage me. Have you experienced negative Nancys or haters? 11.01.2022 #Repost @fempireinternational with @get_repost "When I was in my mid-thirties it looked like I had the perfect life. I was a successful consulting engineer, Id worked my way up the corporate ranks from a process engineer up to Team Leader, to Senior Management. I was earning great money and travelling the world, speaking at different international conferences. ... But on the inside, I was miserable. I knew that engineering wasnt a good fit for me and Id been feeling like a misfit my entire career. I was suffering from chronic fatigue, and was having a lot of trouble falling pregnant. I was desperate to find a solution...and to feel better. Then I had an epiphany. I decided to quit my job and find something I could feel passionate about. After a lot of soul searching I decided I wanted to spend my life helping people who felt miserable in their work, like I had. I wasnt sure what that would look like but I was willing to try to work it out! I began by getting to know myself better and to gradually identify what I wanted for myself, not what others wanted for me. It was a long journey, with many highs and lows but it was worth every moment. I became so much happier and healthier. I healed my chronic fatigue and finally fell pregnant and carried my baby to term. I have two beautiful little boys now and a thriving coaching business with Fempire and if I hadnt followed my truth I dont like to even think about where Id be now. Its not all smooth sailing, none of life is, but at least Im on a path I want to be on now and Im so grateful that I made the decision to quit and pursue my passion.
