The very first YAC meeting was held on Tuesday afternoon (via Zoom) and we are incredibly ...excited to congratulate and welcome 5 very motivated and community minded young people to the 2020 Youth Action Committee! 11.01.2022 UPCOMING PROJECT: We are very excited to announce our collaboration with District Council of Karoonda East Murray and their Youth Advisory Committee on the Mallee Playground Trail. 3 sites are being developed with the flagship centrepiece of Karoonda Playground leading the way. The historic meteorite of 1930 sparked the concept of a 'space themed' playspace and the custom 3-story rocket Summit tower and Lunar Rover elements. Wanbi Playground balances nature play with traditio...nal elements, creating a blend with natural materials and concepts. Wynarka playground will be a sustainable site with the reuse of existing equipment and a brand new colour palette. 09.01.2022 SUNDAY ADVENTURE: Head to NAMBOUR for the Gary Evans Walkway Trail Rated easy - 1.3km one-way length A pleasant surprise in the heart of Nambour the pav...ed walkway follows the banks of Petrie Creek and makes for a shady old-growth wander. HIGHLIGHTS Starting at Petrie Park Road and ending at Carter Road, the Gary Evans Walkway is approximately a 20-minute walk. The paved walkway follows along Petrie Creek, with plenty of seating, shading and large open green spaces to picnic along the way. The short walk provides the perfect setting for local families and visitors. The walkway is also home to the Model Railway Park, and if you're lucky you will hear the toot-tooting in the distance, as the Mini Train Rides circle the tracks! For those looking to increase the heart rate, create your own exercise routine on the outdoor gym equipment and get fit outside for free For our furry family friends, there is a large off lease park for them to run wild (please obey the signs). This can be found along Petrie Park Road, on one half of the sporting field. And don’t forgot to keep an eye out for the water dragons, who are often found relaxing in the sun along the pathways! AFTERWARDS Head into town for a coffee at one of the many local cafes, then take a short walk to the Nambour Aquatic Centre or Nambour Skate Park with the kids. HOW TO GET THERE Travelling along Currie Street, turn onto Price Street, and then take the next right onto Petrie Park Road (look for the clubhouse). Next time you see members of the MillBridge Lions Club - Inc out selling raffle tickets, hold...ing a sausage sizzle or hard at work on another community project, be sure to give them an elbow bump and say THANKS for their HUGE contribution to the cost of new exercise equipment installed late last year along Millar's Creek Walkway. Covid created a bit of a delay in finalising the details but pictured last week presenting their financial contribution to Dardanup Shire President Mick Bennett were Lions President Gary Driscoll and Treasurer Steph Atkins. Installation of the equipment was a joint project between Millbridge developers Ardross Group, Shire of Dardanup and the Millbridge Lions.
