The program teaches kids to ride a two- wheel bike without training wheels and work on coordination and strength to improve in skills on a variety of bikes including trikes, balance bikes and modified bikes. These little legends have been having an awesome - and sometimes challenging - time getting around our bike track and the pathways outside the centre. Check out Cha...rlie, Summer, Lucy and Joe doing their thing! Charlie is currently learning to ride a balance bike. Summer is doing her third year of bike ed. She learnt to ride a balance bike first year, to pedal with training wheels the second year and is now riding short distances with no training wheels. This is Lucy’s second year - last year she learnt to ride without training wheels and this year she is refining her skills and learning road safety. She is looking forward to participating in her school bike ed program next term. Joe learnt to ride with out training wheels, he is really proud of himself this is his first year in the program.

09.01.2022 Occupational therapy can help with managing everyday activities and functions, like eating, getting dressed and using the bathroom. It does so by improving physical and cognitive ability and fine motor skills. For a child, these meaningful activities include playing and learning. Pediatric occupational therapy focuses on improving the child’s ability to play and learn, which are important for development and becoming independent.

01.01.2022 KIDS PLUS AAC AWARENESS MONTH JESSE'S JOURNEY October is Augmentative & Alternative Communication Awareness Month. This is the story of Jesse's journey with AAC as told by his mum Terri. Jesse uses eye gaze technology.... And just how amazing is technology? You can communicate with your eyes using an eye gaze device. For our young people who use an eye gaze device, it works when they look at a picture or icon on the screen, to activate a word. There are many different types of eye gaze devices on the market that allow you to communicate and connect to tools in the environment (e.g., TV remotes to control channels and volume, light switches, air conditioning remotes etc). We have many young people who use eye gaze devices at Kids Plus who range in age from 18 months to 26 years! It is very important technology for those who have complex bodies.
